8/10 Could be more compact, and all the different colours are a bit distracting, but I like the Project Status thingy and the quote.

To give a different perspective on this, I think that the media should be allowed to report on things like this, as fundamentally, I think the news is around to provide information to people on current topics that interest them. While I myself don't care at all about all this - the who is going out with who or who went to which party and ate what - there are plenty of people who do. The more "newsworthy" topics, say an earthquake on the other side of the world, are of little interest to many of the people I know - they would rather talk about various celebrities lives, simply because these are the topics that they know about and can talk to others over. Indeed one could argue that reports on things such as crimes or even disasters in foreign lands are irrelevant to the vast majority of people, because it simply doesn't concern them. The only use for the information is to have something to discuss, or to enhance your knowledge of the world - which is exactly what these celebrity things do for the people who want to know about that. Personally, I think the news would be far more interesting if this celebrity stuff was not included, but as a large number of people are genuinely interested in these kinds of stories, and if no one is being harmed (especially in this case, considering he was the one who told everyone), then I see no reason why the news should not include it.

April 2010 Update: 1 000 000!
CHR commented on Asheroo's City Journal Entry in The Rooleyson Journal
I quite like how you've mixed in old and new buildings. The new schools look nice. -
Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you like the city. I am in the process of replacing some of the second generation of Mas71 walls, which look far nicer, having just modified them up to allow multiple wall textures. There will be more shots of the city in the next update, including some night ones!

TekindusT: The slums feel in that mosaic is really good. You should split it up and post post it in the forum. And where did you get that open subway? Zurrabear: Those waterfalls look great!

No.8 - Breaking News!
CHR commented on kccl35's City Journal Entry in The Republic of Corraile - Be surprised, everytime (Now part of AIN!)
Very well written newspaper. However I think you should have a more distinctive font and/or logo for the paper name. -
Nice city. I especially liked the trees by the river for some reason, they seem to fit in well with the terrain/water mods you are using. Your city looks nice, a sort of organic, jumbled feel - with an awful lot of avenues.

I really like your city. It looks very well planned and has a nice Asian feel. -
Replies I have been away for a few days, hence the lack of replies. Thanks to everyone who commented. @ kccl35 I am not so much going for a natural growth CJ as a story/pretty pictures to enhance story CJ. I may get around to some farm land later, but for the now, I was going to focus on the construction of the capital/main city. This is where I am intending most of the action for the story to take place at least initially. Open to investment? Yes, the investment from earth is what's driving the growth in the city. Natural resources? They have not yet been really discovered (i.e. they aren't to important to my plan for the story as it currently stands) . There may, however, quite possibly be some resources that are not known to humans coming into the story soon... I figured that a story needs dialogue, and that avatars allow people to better get a feeling for the situation. @ Zelgadis I have been posting it in the new CJ area too, but it was have some problems appearing. They seem to be fixed now, it should be on page 2 at the moment. Kinda sci-fi so far. I like reading sci-fi books, and the genre has definitely influenced this CJ. It currently isn't really futuristic in technology, and Sim City doesn't seem to be too suited to futuristic cities. But I have recently been raiding more Japanese BAT sites and I am slowly acquiring things I could use. Isabelle does look kinda Chinese, I think it might be the clothes. I was considering using multiple avatar pictures for some of the characters, but this might confuse readers. For example: @ jacqulina Thanks. It will probably be another week before any more updates come out.

The CJ section is working fine on both IE and Chrome. Thanks. -
Poll: What other city-building games do you play, besides SC4 and CXL?
CHR replied to undo's topic in City-Building Games
I sometimes play Pharaoh. It can get a bit boring after a while, but it can be good if I want to play a relaxing game for a while. -
Northwest Addison: The mountain town(s)
CHR commented on City Planner's City Journal Entry in Addison Mountains
The pictures are again nicely done. You have a nice amount of custom content there. It will be interesting to see how you develop the city. -
Very nice city. The CBD looks very natural in terms of size and density, and the surrounds have a nice dirty urban jungle sort of feel. Your use and placement of the parks and recreation areas also seems quite natural.

I am always very pleasantly surprised when I see the latest thing the NAM team comes up with. A question, in the second picture, what are the small lane things by the side of the avenue in the right side of the picture. They look too small for parking, maybe bicycle lanes?

You have done an amazing job on these rivers. The rocks, water and trees look so real. These must take forever to make! -

How to increase the popularity of a CJ
CHR replied to kccl35's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
@ Local Authority The New CJ section solves this to a large degree by having the post at the top of each page and the comments below. Admittedly you still have them on the page. But I don't find it too hard to go past the other comments (authors usually sign post their updates pretty well), and often find that reading them makes me notice extra details about the post. -
National Flag of Calar
CHR commented on mrdevinej's City Journal Entry in Democratic Crowned Republic of Calar
Interesting CJ. You're doing a good job setting it up. -
I think a more interesting way to run this would be to release a new clue each day until someone gets the airline. So... First Clue: Note that it has been edited to remove some of the clues. Second Clue. Actually, I am going to be away for a few days, so I will give you another clue - a large amount of the capacity of this airline is actually flown on another airline's planes. Third Clue: This is a cargo airline (picture kinda suggested at that). Fourth Clue: This is a domestic only airline (i.e. it doesn't have scheduled international destinations). Fifth Clue: The airline not only has the above plane in its fleet but also 737s. Is anyone going to reply? Sixth Clue: This airline was established in the 1990s. Seventh Clue: This airline also uses the BAe 146. Come on, it can't be that difficult now... Eighth Clue: The company was a joint venture between an existing passenger airline and... Ninth Clue: ...postal company. Tenth Clue: The airline is not based in Europe. Eleventh Clue:

That's a great navy base. I would like to see an airbase next please. Judging by this, it should be good!
