Ploppable residential houses won't work, it just suffers from commute time no matter what you do. You can probably find 1x1 Commercial lots though.

Sandbox mode is like a free mode, you build your island without any goals or anything, and it will never end, and no, I didn't have any problems with the graphics.

I have played the demo, and trust me, it's amazing and nothing like SCS (lol I bought it I played it for litterally 5 minutes and then planned on giving it away), the graphics are good, everything is good, I would highly recommend you get it when it comes out, cause I know I will. I have high hopes for this game.
