  1. No fix for recycling center. I can leave the game be for 1 more week.
  2. I know it sounds silly to ask of how to build a bridge across another road instead of valley or river. I do see some example in Youtube and some image, but I can't really google any useful solution. Thx
  3. It's no mystery that big companies's paid advocacies penetrate every popular website today. Youtube and AppStore are full of fake view/download counts and paid comments, either negative or positive. It's only the matter of whether you want to delude yourself or not. I acknowlegde SC2013 has tons of incurable flaws, but this scandal doesn't add to the list.
  4. Actually I have encountered another bug that, after the fulled recycling center bug occurred, I destroyed it and built a new one, no matter how long I wait, no truck is going out to collect any recyclable at all and the red message says "no recyclable out there can be collected. Production line halted". All subsequent recycling centers I built later have the same issue.
  5. I can't load the video as the message "this video is currently unavailable" pops up every time I reload it. Can someone kindly upload a backup? I also don't feel good as the original video wasn't uploaded to EA official PR channel but a personal channel claimed to be owned by the Maxis staff Guillaume.
  6. EA is no difference with the publisher/investor behind CXL MMO mode. The very reason Monte Cristo made many important features MMO-exclusive was crystal clear, they also had no faith in single player (only) game. If my memory serves me right, Monte Cristo's staffer (Gregory I guess) was smart enough to not fabricate any lies to justify their self-explanatory decision, they simply ignored the harsh question in the official forum, not even considering remove them. Now my feeling is so mixed. I paid full price for SC2013. I actually enjoyed it. But the flaw of the agent simulation is so unforgivably buggy (not that I bias the sims change job/home every day, but vehicle's pathfinding behavior just let me down as a Transport Tycoon fan). If someone's claim that the simulation is fundamentally unsolvable on PC (non-polynomial complete) is true, I guess it's even more impossible for EA to allow Maxis to change the simulation into statistics-based than unlocking the single play/modding features. Because doing so does require "significant amount of engineering work" like making a new game. So I guess this is it. I don't expect things would get better anymore. The authentic bloodline of Simcity is nearly to be severed for all the unfortunate decisions.
  7. This whole post! Almost the same during the closed beta of Cities XL which all testers implored Monte Cristo to abandon the MMO mode which wouldn't work on city builder game. The only difference is that Monte Cristo eventually made most MMO-exclusive features available to single player mode before shutting down the MMO server and closing down the company. Sad thing is EA naively thought they could make a better online-exclusive city builder. In the end the publisher once again victimized the developers and players for their fiasco.
  8. I actually am curious if you're able to overturn the deficit of your own city while still sustaining that monstrous vampire.
  9. If memory is a major concern, I don't think the sim changing job every day matters much in a game, as long as they stick to their education level. Regarding using agent simulation on things which don't need it, I suspect at least power, water and sewage data are all statistics-based instead of agent-based in the final version. The visual presentation we see in the game COULD be all merely cosmetic. But public transport, police car, firetruck and ambulance still need it because they share the same layer of network with other agents and it looks awkward if these vehicles just pass through others quantumesquely.
  10. If the agent simulation was done correctly it would be a benchmark for the next-gen simulation game which handles massive interactive individual data in real-time, much better than the traditional statistics-based simulation. Seems the plan was bit too ambitious or it was EA's order to reduce the complexity of agent algorithm so older computer could run the game/engine smoothly also.
  11. Troll Alert in Simcity Regions

Sounds like trolls are never regulated... I wonder if there's any way to report problematic players like in other online games.
  12. Air Pollution Problems

Need verification, but I suspect a city with high air pollution industry is contagious to the neighouring cities regardless of wind direction of individual city. Because I get the air pollution message very early on when starting my second city next to my moderately developed city.
  13. Custom Music Folder

The reason Maxis doesn't support customizable jukebox, apart from the fact that it's too easy to do this on the user's end, because like the Sims, all music tracks are on the functionality side triggered by which scene/UI you're currently at. So if you don't like the default BGM, the only way is really to mute it in option menu then play your own playlist by other software. While I personally enjoy the music of SC3K and SC4, I remember there were criticism rating the music to be boring and repetitive. Everyone's musical taste is very subjective, after all. Still, given the time and budget Maxis had, it really amazes me that the repertoire of SC2013 is so lacking but not a single editorial review bothers with this con.
  14. In CXL the animation of the vehicle traveling is pre-calculated statistically. If you've modified the network, the vehicle will not get stuck but re-display the revised solution like changing destination or travel on another possible path. However, in SC2013 where every vehicle (agent)'s path is calculated in real-time environment, it's very reminiscent of Transport Tycoon (TT) that although every vehicle's path is pre-calculated according to your assigned destinations, how each vehicle reacts in the network and what materials the vehicle is carrying are all calculated in real-time. In TT your trains can be jammed at intersection PERMANENTLY if more trains share the same network. Also your train can get lost in the network and there is one common cause to that that is very similar to the SC2013 pathfinding issue: When the train is waiting before a signal with a branch to other destination is avaialbe, if the train has waited for too long it will attempt to detour irresponsibly by going into that branch regardless of the possibility to get lost forever. (To add insult to injury, this was not fixed even in TT's spiritual successor "Chris Sawyer's Locomotion" 10 years later.) In SC2013 this is slightly better that every vehicle can u-turn at the deadend. In fact, the vehicle in SC2013 detours is possibly due to the lane before intersection requires the vehicle to queue for too long so it chooses the other lane which leads to a different road to avoid congestion. Also it helps to relief the traffic behind to "make good use" of road/lane which still has capacity to carry traffic. I'm not defending for Maxis' programmers. The pathfinding of SC2013 is definitely flawed. But I can see that any solution to that must not increase the data flow exponentially. In the very first version of TT the quota of vehicle quantity of each type (road vehicle/train/ship/airplane) is very limited, and this cap is shared by all participants in the same map, including the AI opponents.
  15. Troll Alert in Simcity Regions

Someone obviously went to a region, took out the highest bonds possible, then abandoned immediately. There's not much more trolling than actively trying to raise crime level and pollution levels (like I do...). I don't dare to touch my neighbour's city. But is it true that all players in the same map have more than necessary privilege to modify other's city like shutting down police station to crank the crime rate skyhigh? You cant edit other people's cities. So how is it possible to troll other's city?

  17. I don't think the compulsory online DRM is that bad. I live in Asia and connected to East EU server, I didn't have a single instance of being booted due to network connection after started playing for hours.
  18. Monte Cristo closing

Not all of the employers know, understand or bother with the cause of CXL's failure. It's a complex issue. So listing CXL shouldn't pose a great threat to their employments. It might just make the fans of City Builder Game upset, a bit.
  19. Monte Cristo closing

I agree with gabry85 that it's the current hardware (& also game engine) capability that hinders the development of a truly satisfying next-gen Citiy Builder. A money-making monstrosity like WOW doesn't require absolutely hi-end graphic, unfortunately it's the very issue (besides gameplay) that City Builder game has to face. Not only gorgeous artwork, but the capacity to render massive cityscape in real-time. IMO our computer has not not yet been ready for that. But I wholeheartedly believe that the day of genuine next-gen City Builder game will surely come. It's not the end of the world. Wish all MC staff good luck.
  20. MC:

If MC survive this, I really hope that no more MMO SIM hybrid as already proved to be commercially unsuccessful. But MC didn't learn from their mistakes, never.
  21. Methinks MC should learn from Tycoon City: New York City that allowing different shapes of building to be lain side by side (either manually or automatically) rather than arranging each inside a fixed size square lot.
  22. Update on modding

This is inconvincible. Why didn't they separate the game into 2 applications for solo and PO mode? This way they can just disable the cheating in PO program without affecting the solo players. Now the solo players have to wait for the official MOD accessibility update indefinitely, considering MC's attitude toward the solo mode. It's just... sad.

  24. Anyone saw this vid ?

First this video is definitely pre-rendered with better lighting which is not applied to CXL real-time rendering engine. Most scenery and the landscape (the sides of cutting of the railroad are tremendously more detail than in-game terrain) are not in-game materials except for the urban buildings which are easily recognizable. As Nilo stated earlier the tunnel in-game is not that perfect, the tunnel mouth is still graphically glitchy. And 1 more obvious evidence, the density of the trees.
