Computer Shopping, Windows 7, and SimCity 4... Oh my!
thefunktopus replied to k50's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I have pretty much the same as Tommy7777 but a lower end processor. Just installed Sc4, played a while and BOOM "Sc4.exe has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to your problem" Game runs like a pig on butter (thats smoothly) but if I don't get this crash fixed i'll be stuck. -

How I loved that game. I found over 100 screenshots on my old PC. Here I think Ihave recreated the theme park experience fairly accurately:

This is a commuter train passing through a sleepy burg. I had to wait ages for the train to line up; I kept missing it.

Why on earth did MS remove it? Best game (cept maybe hearts!) -
I have a feeling we may see a remake or sequel coming... Just a hunch though...

Black ops actually looks ok, but I'm not sure what treyarch will do with it.. I have Cod4 and 6 on 360. Logged over a week on 4 but now my router (BT HomeHub) closes its NAT always and I can't be bothered to fix it, and plus, COD gets really repetitive.

I do sometimes (FSX/2002) They're okay, but I always end up increasing the simulator speed and landing. Flying around mountanous areas is fun though. And so are the missions, except for the seaplanes where if you slightly touch the dock you fail. BTW you spelt thread wrong...

Okay I played the demo for 360 when it first appeared, and as you can tell from my earlier post i was dissapointed. However, a few days ago I installed steam on a new (capable) laptop. I somehow got to the Tropico 3 demo, and started playing. I was hooked, and i spent the whole night plating it. The next day i went and bought the full game (Tropico's too good to pirate!). It's brilliant. It runs so smoothly on my machine (Pentium dual core 2.1ghz, 4gb RAM and ati mobility radeon hd 4570). Although at some points it may become a bit boring (the radio is WAY too repetitive) if you leave for an hour or two (as you're meant to!) when you come back you will become engrossed again. However, the game does feel like the original (+expansion) with 3d graphics and roads. This is not a bad thing though, and there are enough new features to amuse you. Thoroughly worth the money (

I downloaded and started playing the demo for the xbox 360 version -and im sorry to say its not very good. the new features are great, the achievements look good, but the camera and placement controls are so frustrating!!!!! i've been playing far cry 2's map editor lately so im used to its camera controls, and then tropico has the reverse!! its so annoying and i gave up as i couldn't get past it. when placing buildings i kept getting a something is in the way message, and when placing roads i got the same thing and it said the turns were too sharp. there may be a patch soon or something to fix this, or an option to invert camera controls in the full game -but the initial view from the demo is disappointing.

Franklin County - 12th Anniversary Update, All-Nighttime Shots of New Riverside Downtown
thefunktopus replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 City Journals
I have a satellite laptop too -but mine is useless at SC4 (never let a non techie buy your computer) -it has integrated graphics, 1gb ram, 1.8ghz, 55gb hard drive and worst of all -VIsta, the scourge of humanity (but that was sorta my fault, as it was initially a smooth running xp media center) I have to play on my aged dell desktop, which doesnt have problems (except for lots of skyscrapers). If i were you I would keep your current laptop, as it the satellite range is a nice design. Peace. -
hey steelersfan i have the same problem when i'm playing on my laptop. i have integrated graphics (oh the shame) and it does that unytil i change the zoom level. when i come out of the game it says that display driver igsfx stopped responding and has succesfully recovered. i blame vista!!!
