  1. IGN: Cities in Motion 2 Review

If you need to understand CiM2 go to this PAGE. It's been created by a user and it is a perfect guide. PS: the latest update of the game introduces mouse edge scrolling, so, navigating with WASD is still available but you can activate edge scroilling instead.
  2. Greater Terran - A SimCity (2013) Journal By Haljackey

After seeing the video, I thank God that I have learnt about the limited tile size before release, which made me cancel my pre-order. Because the always on issues would have costed the last bit of my patience. Such as cr...p....
  3. Discussion about City Tile Size

I think they either have to keep the release date and that's why they release something half way completed or they just had based the game on a perfectly wrong concept and now are trying to find excuses why the tile size is small like a nickel.
  4. Discussion about City Tile Size

Actually, that's not my option, it's their option. For me there's no release, because the limitations are unacceptable. But that's also ok, if Glassbox is such a leap forward, maybe the game will catch up somewhen in the future. I just hope they somehow will be successful and that they will invest in a city simulator that justifies it's name. If not - bad luck.
  5. Discussion about City Tile Size

They should just call it "SimVillage" and in 10 - 15 years when every single PC in the world can run big size maps with the revolutionary Glassbox engine, they can release SimCity 2013.
  6. Will you buy Simcity 2013?

When I looked at the videos of the Beta testers on youtube, I thought that all the limitations were due to the Beta version (very small cities, no underground, only flat land, etc). But now I find out that people at EA/Maxis are serious about this Android like small edition of a city-like simulation. Wasn't there an epic fail like CitiesXL when developers concentrated on the wrong aspects of a city simulator? With all the limitations in place, I have serious doubts that the new SimCity will ever meet my expectations, so, I cancelled the pre-order immediately and might check back in a year or more. Maybe, something will develop over time....
  7. Discussion about City Tile Size

Good that I have read this just in time. I am going to cancel my pre-order immediately. 2x2 km is a clear deal breaker for me..... And yes, this is pretty disappointing - I was excited about the fact that SimCity would be back on the scene. I don't care about my dad's PC, the one who likes to play games for sure has a capable PC to run significant bigger cities.
  8. Cities XL 2012 rumours

Very Very True...but I wish CIM had bullet trains which connect from cities to cities like Transport Tycoon.... Also I wish there were more vehicle options... there are not many kinds of vehicles... so boring... also the capacity of vehicles are some what from 2x to 6x smaller than the actual amount. Well, but I still love the game haha. MORE MAPS PLEASE!! Well at the moment there are no bullet trains, that's true, but the vehicles can be modded very easily. There are several to download, but I even did it myself. I changed the capacity to make it more realistic and I even introduced new combinations of vehicles. The fanpages would tell you how to mod them and would offer mods to change capacity without doing it yourself. And there are constantly new ones coming up. Some from the publishers and some from modders. So, I am quite satisfied. Maps can be downloaded from two major fanpages - I am not sure if I am allowed to post them here, but they can be found easily via google.
  9. Cities XL 2012 rumours

To be honest since the release of CiM I am not interested in CXL anymore, as CiM has all the features I was looking for and with simple modding you can influence everything and even can build/construct the city in-game. I liked CXL in the beginning but city gaming includes infrastructure from my point of view, so, also tram, bus, train, underground. CiM has it all.
  10. Trading with Omnicorp

Well maybe I just don't get it, but trading with Omnicorp was somehow strange. Actually, I wanted to buy electricity and had about 7.000 bugs income per month (?). Then I bought 2 tokens electricity and when accepting the order and closing the trading window, I suddenly had 28.000 bugs income per month. Well then I needed some fuel, opened the trading window and ordered - or tried to order 3 units. I received the message that I didn't have enough tokens, thus, my trade with electricity was reduced by 2 tokens. So, I reverted the purchase of fuel to 0 and my purchase of electricity back to 2. After closing the trading window I suddenly had only 15.000 income per month, although the purchase units were the same before trying to buy fuel. Sounds like a bug or that trading with Omnicorp doesn't follow logic ways. Or the prices of Omnicorp spike within a few seconds. Could be and it would be acceptable. But with my first purchase of electricity I had 4 times more income, then suddenly after trying to buy fuel and reverting it to how it was before, I lost 13.000 of my monthly income. Can anyone explain what the logic behind this trading system really is? Or is it bugggggy?
  11. Trade bug?

The observations I had: Actually, I wanted to buy electricity and had about 7.000 bugs income per month (?). 12. Interchanges between different bus lines and subway lines

You have to analyse the destinations that your inhabitants have. If the metro fails to serve those needs, it won't be used. Even if you feed it with connecting bus lines...
  13. Trading with Omnicorp

I wouldn't touch the trading screen neither if I would get 750k :-)

  15. Open letter?

what's the use of it? They seem to be on the verge of bankruptcy as it looks like that they have consequently produced a loss over the past few years. and now it is very likely that the banks will not finance them anymore. So, if there will be a buyer, you can contact them, but MC seems to have other problems to solve right now than taking your nice little advice how to develop the game any further

  17. Nova Agram

After the ancestor city of Nova Agram (Agram) went completely bust by an ungifted mayor, Nova Agram was founded based on all the learnings that had led to Agram's doom. Nowadays, Nova Agram has just passed 200.000 inhabitants and shows a quite good balance. Nova Agram's City Hall The Mayor reports the following numbers (as of Nov 14, 2009): Inhabitants: 220.000 Cash: 47 Millions Cash Flow: 105.000 Unenployment Rate: 4% Up to this moment, the city only populates one side of the river, but the future bridges are already planned and have been started to be built. The photograph shows the projected Agram Bay Bridge and the two 5 stars hotels that had been erected near the bay. Agram Bay, projected Agram Bay Bridge and the Nova Agram Continental and the Agram Bay Hotel - both 5 stars hotels The opposite side of Nova Agram is confined by the Mayor Hill, which perfectly hides the industrial area of Nova Agram. West of Nova Agram: The Mayor Hill There are several big round abouts that channel the traffic through Nova Agram. Actually, the mayor just expressed on his latest press conference and in our interview the urgent need for public transport as the ever growing traffic poses a big challenge for people living in Nova Agram. One of the big round abouts from above Close-up of one of the round abouts The mayor pointed out that he intends to build a tram line through this main street if this ressource will become available. The interview with the mayor was done on the terrace of his wonderful downtown penthouse which has a great view over parts of the city and one of the main roads. Needless to say that it has been repeatedly discussed how he was able to acquire that property and that there have been speculations ever since whether the mayor achieved to acquire that penthouse in an honest way. Myths are entwining around this purchase, but the mayor has stood firm against any accusations. We will come back to Nova Agram to capture the future development and hope you found the first peek into the city interesting. Fredy Journa-List for Nova Agram Express

  19. The end of planet offer

I am not losing any trust in them. I played PO and the game was really very good, also how they solved the bus system was really well done. So, I guess CXL 2011 is the patch to include bus and planet mode into single player and then hopefully a lot of expansion packs will follow which I am definitely going to buy. The game as it is now is promising and I hope the expansion pack will bring trains, trams, new buildings, etc etc. So, here I am waiting to buy those expansion packs :-) Hope they have enough funds to stay active long enough to earn enough to keep on developing.....
  20. What should the next content pack be?

Well trams and undergrounds would be the perfect addition to mass ransit. But I am also thinking about some smaller improvements, like being able to filter the tokens in the trading system. So, we should be able to filter out only one token (e.g. heavy industry) from the list of existing contracts. would ease the handling a lot if you want to see at a brief glance how many tokens you pay for at which price at the moment. Now it's quite painful to scroll the whole list to find out which contract to cancel because there's a cheaper offer on the market.
  21. Nova Agram

Nova Agram has grown to 1,1 Million people Nova Agram has recently surpassed the million inhabitants limit and has changed its face significantly. The newest important construction that was finished yesterday is the 5,8 km long highway bridge that completes the higfhway ring around Nova Agram and connects the mainland with the island in the middle which is the major business district of the city. The 5,8 km highway bridge in the background Along the highway you will also find the new district that was errected in the former industrial area in the north. It is has become very modern business and residential area. But it has only been completed by 50% and a further expansion is scheduled for the near future. Highway and new business/residential district in the north Just completed: office towers in the business and residential area in the north - a former industrial district View from one of the ramps onto the new highway But Nova Agram is also famous for its old parts of the town, one being the St.Nicolas Church in the middle of one of the round abouts in the city centre. One of the other sights is in the eastern part of the city: The Rijksmuseum. St.Nicolas Church St.Nicolas Church Two pictures of the Rijksmuseum The Rijksmuseum with its fantastic place in front But Nova Agram also offers a lot of quiet backstreets with beautiful little markets and relaxing and quiet small roads to hang out in one of the little pubs at night. 22. Traffic Takes Its Toll Nova Agram, November 16, 2009 As the city has been growing rapidly in the most recent time, a lot of important roads use to be clocked with cars especially during peak hours. Today, the mayor of the city, Mr. Villariba, presented his concept of a planned public transport system. He intends to build up to 4 tram lines that will cover the main parts of the city and that should reduce the biggest traffic problems, as Mr. Villariba pointed out. “However, the supplier of public transport systems, MC, hasn’t even managed to deliver the busses in time that we had ordered long time ago, although we are in desperate need of an even much more potent form of public transport such as trams.”, the mayor puts the blame for a still missing public transport system on the manufacturer. “But we are prepared and have already reserved special routes for the tram tracks along our main roads.”, Mr. Villariba cheered over his planning skills. Dedicated for tram tracks: waste of space for an unavailable system? The mayor appealed to the manufacturer to increase their efforts to make public transport systems available as soon as possible, clearly having in mind the upcoming election and a possible renewal of his tenor. In fact, the situation on Nova Agram’s roads is getting worse every day, and anticipating the planned extension of the city in the near future, it is more than obvious that the city’s roads will soon meet their capacity. Mr. Villariba somehow surprised the press and inhabitants with his presentation about a future tram network today as he didn’t seem to care so much about it until today being occupied with numerous scandals such as the obscure purchase of his penthouse and several villas of the upper-class that had been built in protected environment areas. It is said that the mayor received significant amount of money to allow construction in such areas. The today’s presentation of a tram network, which realisation seems to be very unlikely due to severe manufacturer’s problems in providing such a system, seems just to be an attempt to divert public attention from Mr. Villariba’s obscure activities as the election day comes closer. The Mayor's plan: 4 tram lines to fight traffic jam
  23. Nova Agram - Traffic Issues

FIRST TWO HIGHWAYS FOR NOVA AGRAM Nova Agram, November 26, 2009 With a big celebration, the first phase of highway construction was completed yesterday, delivering Highway 1 and Highway 2 to the public of Nova Agram. Along with the construction of these two blood vessels of Nova Agram's car traffic within the city boundaries, the city ran a massive program to move the industry to a new location in the north east of the city and dedicate the former industrial area to a complete new residential area. Nova Agram's new Highways and Expressways The mayor, Mr. Villariba, announced during the opening ceremonies that the city was currently completing the planning of the new bus lines and added that the plans would be revealed soon. Some critics were raising the issue that the former industrial zone was not cleaned up completely of industrial waste before the city authorities started to errect the residential buildings in that area which would lead to serious health problems. The opposition called it "the big unease" and a typical pattern of behaviour that proves the carelessness of the planless mayor.

  25. Nova Agram - Traffic Issues

There will be more of the story, I have been very busy lately with moving the industrial zone and errecting a new quarter for living and offices in the old industrial zone. A huge undertaking, but it paid off. I am sure the Nova Agram Express will send a reporter soon and will cover the development.....
