  1. Hi all, I've downloaded the road-top mass transit mod, and the installer that goes with it. The mod appears to work, but I have brown boxes on top of the bus-stops. After looking around forums I've also installed SimGoober's bus stop pack, but still the boxes. I've read some posts about files being missing that results in the boxes, but I'm fairly certain that I installed the download (and the installer) without fiddling with anything. Is there something that I'm missing? Of all the mods, I'd really like to get the busstop one working! *please note* with regards to any advice/instructions that I am very, very dumb. Please feel free to simplify any help down to a personally offensive level

    Hi all! Last year when I was playing I was having some frustrations with the Road top mass transit mods and heard that there was a newer, more comprehensive version on it's way (version 4.0 I believe). Does anyone know where one can find the latest version? I tried searching the forums and couldn't see it Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey I've noticed that after a time I can start plotting commercial zones that are '4 deep' away from roads...but I can't seem to do it with a brand-new city. Am I missing somthing? Has anyone else noticed this?

    Okay, I'll wipe out all the files and take another stab at it with your instructions, and if I muss it up somehow, the v4 sounds very promising!.   8. Brown Boxes on RTMT

    Hi guys, thanks for the help so far! I've downloaded RTMTV350, and the Install program that I downloaded separately. Does that mean there's a newer version, or is there an update 3.6 to the existing one? I have two folders in my plugins folder- RTMTV3 and RTMTV350. Both have a models folder, but I don't seem to be able to find the "signs" subfolder. Could be I'm somehow missing that? If there's a newer version of the Road-top mass transit, would you happen to know where I can download it? Maybe I should delete these folders and start over Thank you again for the advice, it is very much appreciated!
  9. Probably a very dumb question: I deleted the 'San Francisco' region in order to start it over- naturally it's not available on the region view. Where do I move the SF region file so that I can re-start it without having to re-inttall the game? While I mention it, where does one plug-in downloaded regions for use in the game? I noticed that they were not there as well?!? Thanks for any help

Here's a question from a newbie: When placing zones, one can, for example, use the Ctrl key to "remove the lines" from your zone, or just drop it in, in which case a number of little zones are laid down. So even though the zones are the same size, one is a single zone, and the other is a patchwork of smaller zones. What effect, if any, does this have on the size or type of buidings that grow? Does it set the initial "footprint"? Or is there no difference between laying either type of zone?
  11. Can one force buiding types?

    So say there's one zone that is 2 x 2 square, and another that consists of two 1 x 2 lots, will the game sprog the same buildings (with the same likelyhood)? If so, what's the purpose of the lines when scrolling down zones without using [Ctrl] ?
  12. Hey, I've downloaded the Lot Editor and the BAT (plus the update) from the SC4 website, but it wont let me install it since I don't have gmax- the link leads to a website in which nothing is obvious for a newbie like me- how can I get the gmax program and make the BAT work??

  14. I've loaded the NAM into my city, and like the help-page suggested, I looked for "Radical Custom Special" in the dropdown menu to turn it on....but there was no phrase like that. Does it happen automatically now in newer versions? I notice that all my commute times still seem long.

  16. So I ended up enabling pretty much every option in the April 2008 NAM- would that mean that I have the 're-calculated commuter paths' (which was what I was particularily looking for) in there....somewhere?

    whoops, never mind, I found it- OK last question....landfills eventually vanish over time if they are not used, don't they? And if so, how long does it take? And is there a faster way of getting rid of them?

    hmm... ok, so I guess my next question would be, what are the largest 'footprints' for buildings in the game? Meaning, that if I were building (for example) a very high density commercial core, would I be able to construct a commercial zone that was 8X8 (touched by roads on at least two sides) and hopefully wind up with 4 buildings that are 4X4? Or do buidings come with larger footprints? Sorry for being such a newbie.

  21. Can one get rid of Garbage?

    Can one obtain the garbage chute or the black hole by downloading, or do you need to get the STEX disc in the mail? And has anyone else downloaded the clean incenerator and had it not appear on the city map? (although it still works)

    yep, that's right- when auto-zoning, sometimes I can go 4 deep without getting an 'auto road' and sometimes not. I also noticed that it happens less on lower density I guess it's not a problem now, if I use the shift/alt/ctrl keys, which I had no idea about (thanks, facelessman) So now if I can make the zones as far from a road as I like, what's the maximum distance from the road that the game allows development on? Is it Res-3 Com-4 Ind-5 ?

    If you use incinerators, dosen't the city end up with huge pollution? Or is there a 'no pollution' cheat? That would be even better than no garbage!
