Anybody have a list for how much traffic each type of road/highway can handle? I thought I saw data on it some time back but can't seem to locate it.

Change we can believe in.... Version 6.0!
mrdahjr replied to Craig-Abcvs's topic in Simtropolis Related
Looks nice but: 1) I wish you'd remove the current topics from the from page. It really bogs me down and seems unnessecary. 2) I'm now getting a pop-up window alerting me to an unresponsive script that is running. -
Regarding Easy Forests, see link below: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=3869 Has the ground glitch problem ever been fixed?
-
Being a Mac user, Lot Editor isn't an option as far as I know.
-
Also, what are you using that allows roads and streets, with dirt roads for your rurals?
-
Mind me asking what trees are you using? I've used (and hated) God/Mayor Mode Trees and yours don't look like mine, if that's what you used.
-
I had downloaded "easy forest" by ririri, and I'm having a problem with the ground under the trees. Sometimes black, sometimes the blue background showing through. I really really would like to know if this can be fixed (already posted a comment for it), or are there any downloads out there that are similar in putting down mass areas of fully-grown looking, non-growing, plop down trees? I wish SC4:RH came with such a tool in its menu but planting one single tree at a time takes like FOREVER. Thanks.
-
Far as I now, using the God mode trees plops one tree at a time. Sure, you can just down the button and drag but even still it's an extremely slow and bothersome method when trying to mass-plant large areas.

This is great, but I wouldn't call it seamless. When I place these pier parts it seems as though you can "level" them but when you actually plop them down they aren't level with the last piece I placed so... am I to assume the grounds must be totally flat and level? Otherwise it looks jagged and not like what I've seen in the pictures.

I'm trying to create a region of all small city blocks. It seems to be working but it's pretty large and it stops creating city blocks after 320 files. Is there a limit to the number of city blocks a region can have?

Traffic Limits for Streets, Roads, etc...
mrdahjr replied to mrdahjr's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Actually that's what I meant by limits... what types of roads can handle how much traffic before it becomes a problem. -
Ok, seems SC4 and SC4:RH are two different critters when it comes to Sims, how they get around.. and mass transportation and how it's used, and the order it's used. I'm encountering problems when the distance gap between Sims and jobs becomes too great it seems. I have two neighboring cities and when I build close to the borders things seem ok, but as things build outward I start encountering problems. I tried to remedy this with buses and or trains but they get very little use if any. These were $ Sims, for the most part. They just complained of no jobs, and commute was too long. I thought $ Sims liked using mass transit.. so I've been trying buses, trains.. but I still get the dreaded no job. Just what ARE the rules when it comes to Sims, transportation and mass transit? Thanks.

There were plenty of jobs waiting for the Sims in the neighboring city. Equal to roughly 4 to 5 times the number of Sims. The Sims were $, and the jobs were dirty industry. And cars was their first best option from the start, using an avenue. Note: Thinking poor Sims prefer to use mass transit, I did try using buses, then rail, then a combo of both along with parking garages. But they didn't appear to like this either.

I have NAM (2007 Mac). As far as connections go I only had the avenue connection. There are two cities (A and B), both on large maps. The residential and commerce were near the center of the map for City A with an avenue running to the border connecting City B. Near the center of the map for City B is a lot of industrial zones with the avenue connection. You mean to tell me to get those Sims to travel the distance I need more connections? Makes no sense but... I give it a try.

Can someone clue me in on what's going on here? I've created two neighboring cities - one with industrial and one residential/commercial - connected by an avenue. It appears that one of the following may be occuring: 1) Sims don't want to use the avenues, nor will they use a road that crosses an avenue. 2) The avenues aren't working. 3) Something I don't know about avenues that's causing the problem. When I reconnected both cities using a road, things improved and people started moving in. When I forced the use of the avenue by cutting access to the road.. everything goes dead again. I thought avenues were nothing more than BIGGER roads - or cheaper versions of a highway?

Yea, it's a royal *** when you're slung into a new learning curve with something you're familiar with. I've had SC4 since... the first year it came out? 2003? I finally broke down and bought RH as a new toy to help forget the real life.. The problem was in perfect pathinding.. isn't the a network mod though that could be of use? Also can someone confirm that Sims won't travel from one city through another to a point in a third city? I thought it could be done but everything I've tried so far isn't working. Three cities: City A connects to City B which connects to City C. City A and C are not directly connected. It's just plain too far or the game won't go that far?

OK! Somebody SLAP me! It occured to me that I used some mods I had been using with the old SC4 - pathfinder mod - I'm now playing SC4: RH. I removed the pathfinder mods and whammo.. the avenues are working. I just bought SC4:RH last week after having SC4 for the last 3 or 4 years.
-
No. Replacing the avenue with a road fixes it. Also, I just played the Rush Hour Tutorial that comes with it and the avenue they had me place in that city also was not functioning when I went and played that city.

Ok, since I didn't have the tools to edit the pic I just created a web page for it and uploaded it. It can be found here: http://city.dahjr.com

Ok, had to create another similar city with a postable name... didn't have the tools on hand to edit a picture. Took a snap shot.. tried uploading.. the file was too big.
