Tegville Metropolitan Region Since last I updated this CJ, I have been working on adding more custom content without slowing my computer any more than I have to. The all-in-one lots have been the most helpful, but others have made it in as I have found common elements to some content. As a result, I'd like to share with you the latest development from Langley. A closeup of Wozniak Field, home of the Langley Cougars of the SLB. Named for Steve Wozniak, creator of the personal computer. The roadways merge together an their way to Deception Pass. The newly built Southfield Freeway heads south to Bayview, while the Mission Freeway heads northward past the airport (both apart of SR-257). The Southfield Freeway was build to shunt traffic out of the surrounding neighborhood. The Southfield Freeway in detail The completion of Whitewash Freeway was a major success for the neighborhood, allowing for new freeway access to other cities in the region. So much so that new avenues had to be constructed in the neighborhood to handle the extra traffic, and causing some to begin pushing for a monorail or subway connection across the neighborhood, from north to south. Occidental Circle, Where SR-12, SR-127, and SR-125 intersect near the Greensleeves industrial area. Fulton's Bridge carries SR-140 across Lone Lake, saving thousands of drivers on Langley's southside time when commuting to Sequim One of the many tunnels favored by residents of the entire Tegville Metropolitan Region to divert traffic away from schools, parks, and residential neighborhoods. SR-13 divides the Cedar's Neighborhood from Columbia Beach, beginning at Columbia Circle with SR-12 coming in from the north and east and SR-128 from the west, then crossing SR-140 as it enters Columbia Beach on its way to Clinton. The brand new Saratoga ferry dock, built to reduce the overcrowding on roads near the ferry docks. Its sister dock was built on the west side of Mukilteo. Power demands from neighboring constituent cities forced the creation of a second powerplant in Langley. This Hydrogen power plant, named Smith for the local law maker who helped make its existence a reality, sits across Foster Rd. from the Olzsta Nuclear Facility. Dylan field in the Whitewash neighborhood, along with the Riley Museum of Fine Art and the Good Cheer Gallery. New meets old as new commercial properties are developed in the Whitewash neighborhood, edging out some of the older residents, however, they do appear to be trying to keep the residents close by building taller office buildings. That is normal. Safari is a Universal Binary, whereas SC4 is not. SC4 is a program written for the G4 and G5 processors. It will run fine on your Intel Mac, however, because Rosetta has to convert the older code to run on Intel systems (which aside from speaking a different language, they also write number in different orders), it will require more memory to run SC4, and more processor power than it would if you were using the Universal Binary patch (which I am using on a PowerBook G4 and it actually made the game faster for me). Tegville Metropolitan Region Map of the Southeast quadrant of the Tegville Region, the current focus of this CJ. Today I'd like to introduce you to the region with the City of Langley. Langley sits on the southern shore of the Garfield Sea on Fushal Island. To the North, across the Garfield Sea is the Samish Peninsula. Langley currently has a population of 474,000, and is a primary port of the region. Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal on the Samish Peninsula. Columbia Beach ferry terminal. The Columbia Beach neighborhood. Langley International Airport, along with the Olzsta Nuclear Facility, Wozniak Field, and Dylan Stadium. A newly built freeway to shunt traffic under a local park to connect to the Whitewash neighborhood. Eventually, the freeway will connect to the "T" interchange in the Southwest of the image. White Salmon ferry terminal, with the White Salmon neighborhood, including Perry Matte convention center. The entrance to Horseshoe Bay. Tegville Metropolitan Region The City of Sequim (pronounced: s-quim, Named after the city in Washington state). Sequim is a city just to the south of Deception Pass, on the east side of the pass. It has a population around 44,000. The downtown core. Mainly residential complexes. State Route 65 (the 'highway') runs from Deception Pass to Deception Pass State Park (to the South). More of Downtown, including the city hall and courthouse. A Teaser from the city of Bow... Something you wouldn't see in real life... a JC Penny, across from a JC Penny. More Coming

Reason #3 why the US and Canada will merge in the next 25 years (except for Quebec). As an engineering major, I am continually baffled by people continuous use of the term "fossil fuel". Oil is a geological, not a biological process. It is most often found near area where large amount of tectonic stress has been caused on the tectonic plates (this being near the Rocky Mountains, geologically not geographically speaking). I certainly hope that this will be used to help the world (and the US and Canada), and deny OPEC the power they have been wielding the last 25 years. TEG

Responses KingTitan : Thanks. I currently have 15 cities in this region that I'm going to start with. One I think needs some serious work, others just need some tweeking. I do have some custom content, but it is hard to find many that don't have dependencies. I'm doing this on a PowerBook G4 667, so I'm trying to reduce my overhead. nihonkaranws: Thanks. Actually, where I live, there is rarely any sort of seawalls, and this city's geography is based off of a place called Deception Pass. vivydu29 : Thanks. I'm not happy with the variey, but I am working on it.

It would help if they were allowed to operate at maximum speed. There are many places where high-speed windmills could power entire nations. TEG

abcvs: Thanks. I'm a big proponent of monorails in RL, mainly because I used to live in Hawaii near a two piece mall, connected by a monorail. Voulpiotis: I actually have some custom content installed, but I have chosen to let most of it grow, instead of plop. Cockatoo-210893: I'd have more if there was a way to find those that both grow and have few if any dependencies (I've had major problems with dependencies). crazyyaya: Thanks GreekMan: I did have more, but decided to let my other cities mature after making some minor changes. I would give everyone an image of my region, but about 1/3 has yet to be designed. TEG

Seattle has an interesting hybrid of the two. They have an extensive bus network, but along major arterial and through downtown, many busses extend hooks and are powered by the power grid. It reduces pollution and still retains the flexibility of busses and don't take away lanes from the roads. It does help that most of the dual powered busses are articulated (i.e. double length), so they also have the larger capacity of a streetcar. Street Cars in the US are often used for services that need to run often over a certain length, especially between residential areas and employers or education facilities. TEG

Actually I believe that this is the third trailer. The first being in 1998 at E3 and COMDEX. The games looks sweet, but I'll believe it when I see it, just like "Guns 'n Roses" Chinese Democracy album. TEG

Everything you have added to the plug-ins folder should appear in an appropriate menu of the game. Things like the NAM add things in several menus, others just appear in the landmarks or parks menus. TEG

Go to Aspyr.com and download the Universal Update for SC4, that should fix most problems. When you launch it, hold down option to be able to play the game in a window, which allows you to easily multi-task. As for plug-ins, check out the Mac Omnibus. There is a link there that will link you to Official EA/Maxis plug-ins that you can use for your Mac. TEG

I would suggest using Notepad (Win) or either vi or TextEdit (Mac) to do simple HTML editing. Also, you have to include the images with the file. The tag for images is < img src="URL OF IMAGE" /> (remove the first space between the < and img) If you put the images in the same folder as your html document, you can just put the image file name instead of the URL. TEG

You will barely notice any change in speed. The only things loaded are the things you are using, so there should be zero problem. The only thing that gets a little hairy is the menus, but it is not really a big deal. TEG

Perhaps that is why after installing the Universal Update for SC4, mine began to run much faster than before, even though I'm on a PPC system. Perhaps the recient updates to the C & C++ libraries that were done to create universal Apps finally removed the 16-bit integer limitation, which had to have been there for backward compatibility with 68k systems, whose registers were limited to 16-bits. So this problem had been in most Mac Apps, long after the 68k processors had been retired. TEG

Greetings! My name is Thomas, I'm from Whidbey Island in Washington, USA. However, I currently go to college in Flint, MI and spend some of my free-time in Lake Orion, MI, Delphi, IN, or Bolton, ON. I'm a Mac user, and while I am sometimes annoyed by EA's utter lack of respect for the platform that got them into the software business, I'm happy to see them returning to it with SCS. I've been playing SimCity since 1994 when my 7th grade Social Studies teacher used SC2K to explain urban development, and I've been hooked ever since. TEG
