  1. Introduce Yourself Here!

Hey to all, im Mike. Early 20's, living in Melbourne, Australia. Working in sales support for an I.T company and slowly moving into a sole I.T based role. The first games I remember playing are (on a machine with windows 3.1) Commander Keen and Police Quest. Stunts was also a classic but definately not the first. I still rate commander keen quite highly, even though I havn't played it for about 10-15 years Big fan of F1 racing, real life and racing sims. Have played all the usaual games out there and delved into each different genre...HL/CS back in school, BF2, WoW, Guild Wars, Matrix Online, all the need for speeds. RTS games from starcraft, red alert and homeworld. Im very new to sim city but loving it so far. I played a game called Sim Farm about 500 years ago, i remember being completely addicted to that for about 72 hours, lol, but i did remember it when i started playing SC4. Well thats enough from me for now, im quite hooked on sc4 so i expect to be around these boards for a while....take care all Mike

Its kind of funny, i've only been playing SC4 for a few days now. When I started out I was thinking oh my god this is so hard, how can it even be possible to make money, why doesn't this work etc etc. After a solid hour of reading FAQ's and guides from all the knowledgable members, loading up my map and making some minor adjustments, next thing I know my population is soaring, im clearing $15,000 a month in income (without being a tightass on spending), everything just came together. So thanks to all those people who took the time to do that. I've got a screenshot of my first real city here - https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/Deano_185/AUS.jpg - still a work in progress of course. And the many mistakes im making is helping me learn, must have restarted this map at least 5 times Thanks for the advice on zoning. Especially the tip on only needing to zone medium density to get IHT. Big money saver that one! Im also curious to find out exactly what this city journal is? However as soon as im done posting here I plan to search it up, so i'll probably know before anyone can reply to tell me Well SC4 is really drawing me in so i expect to get to know a few of you a bit better over the coming months. For a small bit about me - name's Mike, im in my low 20's, work full time in sales working towards I.T, living in Melbourne Australia. Great lover of PC games, F1 racing and all the rest of it. Take it easy and thx again Mike
  3. Newby needs help - industry issues

Hey Maso...thanks for the reply. Cant believe I was that slack to miss read it like that. I checked straight away and there High Density Industry was staring me in the face! I guess now i'll boost up my education funding, get my health levels up to scratch to pull in the right sims, bump up DI taxes and lower HTI, hopefully it'll get the ball rolling. thx again, Mike
  4. My Sim Question

I believe you need to complete the U-Drive missions.
  5. Hi to all. Firstly im aware the search button is my friend, believe me I have searched, read FAQ's and guides, you name it, but im stuck on this one. Two questions mainly regarding industry, well I-HT. Firstly I cant quite get my head around the whole IHT thing, but I believe one problem I might have is zoning. I get how the whole desireability works, but when im zoning industrial i do not have a "high density" button. I have Agriculture, low and medium desnsity, no high density industrial. I've been reading alot about SC4 (im using deluxe version btw) online, now i have double checked and i dont have a high density button for industrial but im positive i've heard or read people saying they are zoning high density industrial areas. is my game bugged or something or whats the deal? should i have a high density industrial button? Secondly, as I said I cant get my head around how to make IHT. I know i need low pollution, highly educated sims, high desireability in the areas i want it, aswell as demand for it. but what kind of zoning do i need (do i need high density industrial...does that eve exist) or medium etc....and how do i sort of make it come to life? IHT is really not happneing for me. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes time to reply. Mike
