  1. Hi, I was looking to implement this design, but can't seem to get it done efficiently (and it's costly to keep trying). Could someone post or send me a screenshot of this setup?
  2. I've been putting a lot of hours into one of my cities (Clearwater) in my my region (original name; Cape Trinity) and have run into a big problem: my water is drying up. I've tried to keep my pumps send out just enough, but I've had to move the water system 3x now, and there's really only one spot left that I can move them to when the 3rd location runs dry. I could create more cities in the region and focus on water production for my original city to purchase, but it seems like there should be a better way. Also, I read somewhere that rivers are an unlimited source of water. However, I don't have any in my region. I do have some limited coast line in my own city, but it's not straight and when I put my water pumps are close to the coast as possible, they still ran out. I also thought the water might replenish itself, but no luck so far. My first area is totally white on the map now, and hasn't had a hint of blue come back in after moving the pumps out. Does anyone have a solution for me? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
  3. Water issues

Thanks for the help, I just set this up and am hoping it works well. By the way, for anyone wondering, I finally found the other thread, here:
  4. Water issues

So you just keep swapping recycling plant and water pump locations? It seems like there should be a better way....
  5. I skipped the tutorial this morning before work in my rush to start a region that my fiancee could join. I see the "Getting Started" button in the options menu, but when I load the city, I can't do anything and there are no popups. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just a launch bug?
  6. Introduce Yourself Here!

Hi, 111222333444, actually, I can't practice yet. The bar exam results come in on October 14th, and at that point I'll either be licensed to practice (in Virginia only), or I'll have to wait and take the exam again in February. I've got my fingers crossed! If you're in Virginia, and need someone, feel free to contact me then, but try to stay out of trouble regardless, please. I actually had checked out some of the CJs on my last attempt at playing SC4. I had one of them bookmarked and came across it last week, which was what prompted me to try to play it again. Just after I made the above post I started combing through the STEX - I've downloaded over 100 BATs already and want to finish going through the database as much as possible so I can have as many neat growable "surprises" as I can before I continue building my city. Thanks for the welcome!
  7. Introduce Yourself Here!

Hi all, I've made a couple of "need help" posts and thought I should introduce myself before I do anymore of that. This is probably my 3rd or 4th time attempting to play SC4, starting from the first week it was released back in 2003, but after spent a *lot* of time with it in the past few days, I'm finally getting the hang of it and am looking forward to playing it for some time to come. (Having a newer PC and knowing about the NAM/NWM makes a big difference this time around!) I recently graduated from law school (after working for 6 years post-undergrad), and have approximately 10 weeks to wait to find out whether I passed the bar, so I have a lot of time to kill in the near future. My friend referred to SC4 as a "virtual bonsai tree", and I think that's a great way to describe the game - you can really make just about anything you want, with preparation and patience anyway. I've enjoyed the time I've spent with it already, and am excited to test out some of the great BATs I've downloaded. This seems to be one of the best gaming communities around - I look forward to interacting with you all more as things go on.
