*Hijack* What locomoive is that? It's defintly a Dash-9-44CW but I've never seen one for SC4. Your fire trucks had an accident in the last picture though! lol HOW THE HECK DID THAT MANY PEOPLE DIE? Not every falls dead if a millirem of radiation is released. A rad is another story though. Reality Check: Trains carrying nuclear waste run on low useage lines at night only. The chances of an accident with another train are nil. (sorry about my ramblings. I get carried away with details
  2. Pollution Metter Red

0, actually. I mean if a lot has a pollution value of -100000000 or some insane number then it might become +100000000. There's a threshold where the game messes up with big numbers. I don't really use anti-pollution things, since it makes you dependent on them and it usually costs you in the end.
  3. Pollution Metter Red

Many air pollution mods on the STEX use values that are so radical, the pollution "wraps" around so that instead of reducing pollution, it actually increases pollution by huge amounts. I don't remember the exact way to fix it, but try removeing the plugin (without deleteing the lot) and let the simulation run. If the pollution doesn't decrease, don't save. You should make a copy of the city move onto your desktop or any other place besides the region folder which the city was orginaly in.

QUESTION: Isn't Dorito Island a little small to build a bridge to? Unless you're going to expand it , I don't even build on islands that small.
  5. Virgin Shores

Guess what! I'm actually alive! (although for 15 pages of comments, there hasn't been a lot about me or my department) IT'S ALIVE! The DWR has finished Hawk Island, although the location doesn't appear to be sutiable for shipping and so we ask for alternative locations before the plans are finalized It's truely amazing what you guys have done in the past two weeks! I still trying to comprend all the recent devolpments including *gasp* a second tile!

DTP: If your already growing I-Ht (which I find hard to sustain) Maybe you should us the "make historical" button. I'm not trying to be evil to anyone who's new here, but I don't want all sorts of proposals from other people on outdated images. If you want you can put it back, but please put a disclamar in BOLD at the bottom. Goldfish4209: You think the water's shallow!? It's 20 meter deep! (for those non-metric people[like me] it's about 66 feet!) Archean: That is a coal pile. More accuratly, it's a coal tailings piles but I improvosied. Hampi: 1680 x 1050 pixels!!!!! I have to play on 800x600! On the laggest simcity program ever! It takes 10 minutes to load! Don't even get me started about building anything ethier! The DWR is planning on creating more proposed overheads soon. With important things like bridges, and the water cooler. (just kidding)
  7. Virgin Shores

DTP: I demand you blow that picture out of the water! It is outdated and will be replaced soon. In the next 10 years.
  8. Schulmania

Schulmania is a very neat place. I like the fishing towns. I wonder what will happen next?
  9. Moving Plugins Folder?

I believe there is a way to use the command line prompts to tell the computer to look in another Simcity 4 folder, although I not sure if this is what you want.
  10. Highest income ever reached v2

can't read any thing in the pics! Please post larger ones, preferbley on an outside site like Photobucket or Imageshack.
  11. Virgin Shores

You know it helps if you tell about new exports before I build up the port. At least I can still go back and finish it up. BTW, you have just given me an excuse to plop a huge grain silo. Thank you! I try to get some pics soon.
  12. Bout time the simcity fans strike back!!

This is getting really bloody. IMHO, as long as EA's making money, they will not listen to consumer compliant. Their only goal is to extract as much money from people's pocket as possible. Even if the entire Sim's division was boycotted, they would just make other games in different generes. Let's forget this bloody arguement and just wait for CXL. I like how MC is taking opnions from actual users, unlike a certain company we know of (*cough*EA*cough*)
  13. Nuclear Power Plant - VVER 1000 Pressurised Reactor

This is so good that I may put it my western, capitilist MD. Looks very good. Now, errrr..... depite being a non-Chernobyl design, does this explode any worse than the in-game plant?
  14. The sounds you are hearing are custom query sounds. When you plop some lots that have their own custom sounds, they will be heard if you switch back to the desktop and then back to SC4. Some lots also have their own background sounds, like power plants or industry. These will only play if you are near the lot. There is no hardware issue ethier.

JRJ Cargo Docks :https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=247 I suggest we use the small since the big ones have some huge cranes sticking out. I choose a house when I feel like it. Sorry about the misspelling. I was too lazy to check before I posted. You think peanuts are boring? Try grass. The least interesting thing on earth, especially when you sitting on the same seat for 400 miles. At least there's a little room to move around in a RV. MMM: I think those farms are too small anyway. Their also kinda crammed together and way too close to the industry. Perhaps along the river further inland? I still question the reasoning behind building nuke shelters. We don't exactly have any neighbors, a military(add that to the que DTP) or threats of nuclear war(let's keep it that way.)

The DWR likes the coal dock proposal. However, instead of SOMY's dock I recommend JRJ's Bulk Cargo docks as they are more realistic. Also, the DWR recommends keeping the dock small to keep pollution down and to establish large facilites on Hawk Island instead. The industrial area looks good. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but I like it this way. The CDK-3 is actually a bit more realistic than the CDK-Ind and looks better IMHO. The new devolpments look excellent too. I want to stay at that resort now! (BTW I don't have a house) As the place where I live now, Campbell County, TN farming is pretty BIG here. quote> Now that's disturbing, because I live in TN too. Of course, most of the farming where I live is tabaco and other "interesting" products.

DTP: Sad about your computer troubles. We hope you will be able to update soon. What is your computer problem? MMM: Show us your new toll booth but there's really no gurentee that we'll even build toll boothes. Limited access highways only. There are nuclear bomb sets out there that don' emit radiation. I don' think we need nuke shelters right now.
  18. One Blue Sky - Airport Recreations

I thought of a good one! How about Kai Tak International (a.k.a. the old Hong Kong International. I know it's not on Google Earth anymore but there still lots of pictures around EDIT: I found a site with several useful diagrams. I'm attaching the link because I don't think I supposed to attach them directly. However, if you have a slow internet connection, there are some videos on this page. http://www.flyingtigersgroup.org/Cathay/KaiTak.htm According to Wikipedia, the runway was 11,112 ft. I know the picture is diagnol, but you can build straight and make the approach at a diagnol.
  19. Passenger Ferry Skins

It is possible to mod the passanger ferry. There is a "water taxi" that appears after you install Goldva's water taxi station(don't know the exact name) I've also seen a project at SC4 Devotion, but I don't think it has been released. Most people who do automa don't do ships very often and don't like requests. You could find somebody who does it, but it would be hard.
  20. Virgin Shores

Sorry DTP, but I haven't actually gotten a chance to work on the port, although I will today. Having 2 lots will not help, since each has the same id and thus only the last one to load will be added to the lot pool. If you really want to get the Best Buy, you might want to use Buggi's .dll to plop it. Don't make me delete that post (it disappeared) Check the lot files and see the identicalness in action. Archean: Please stop nuking everything in sight. Or at least build a bunker for your cowering sims. I can't wait to see what happens next. I like Crazyarchitect's proposal. Even through they are larger than the zoning codes allow currently, appartments of this nature will allow the city to grow faster. It's amazing I've misses this BAT until now, since the pink and beige one looks extactly like the ones's in my area.
  21. patch for modded game

Originally posted by: Bacon914 okay, after installing sc4 deluxe on my computer again after my old harddrive bit the dust, I tried to remember all of my old mods and downloaded them to my plugins folder, used them in game, and all that good stuff. Of course, only after I get a bunch of cities going do I remember that there is an official patch that I was supposed to download. whoops. I went to the simcity 4 website and looked at the patch page, and it said it would not work on a modded game. So, my question is, is there any way I can download the patch and have it work on my modded game without having to completely restart all of my cities?quote> Plugins don't directly edit the game files. Simply rename your plugins folder to something like Plugins1, install the patch, and afterward rename Plugins1 or whatever you named back to Plugins. The patch shouldn't mess up cities you've already built, even with plugins. Modded usually refers to having edited the game files, like SC1.dat or something. The installer for the patch compares the contents of the .dats. I think that this is so it dosen't delete stuff it shouldn't or corupt it, but it usually justs make harder to install the patch.

Is the new spot is OK: quote> TRUST ME. You do not want to put it there. That yellow area would be the new indutral devolpment. That's also very close to the oil refinery. Unless your trying to kill your guests, I suggest moving it to the southern part of the city. I think resorts 1 or 4 are the best, but that is DTP's decision, not mine.
  23. Virgin Shores

un1: isn't that where all the water pumps will be? and can you suggest what hotels/resort lots you want?
  24. Virgin Shores

Actually, you mustn't be anything. Thanks for saying, but you're decision's not final. The DOT's and mine are. And no one's ideas are stupid.quote> I never said his idea was stupid. I justed wanted him to stop posting the same thing since it had already been decided by the DOT. I think. I sometimes really wish I had moderator power over this thread... quote> Now why would you want that? Sorry, Mr. Monorail Man. I didn't say your idea was bad, but I don't think it's even 30 squares between the port and my land. Originally posted by: deathtopumpkins Patricius Maximus: Really? I hardly ever get a Best Buy. But that doesn't really bug me as it's horribly underscaled (no offense, SG). The cars parked out front are bigger than the front doors! And I have almost all of SG's Packs, but there are still a bunch of things that won't grow, so I've even tried downloading the individual lot so that there would be a higher chance of it developing with multiple copies, but no luck. quote> Anyway, I'll stop ranting now.quote>Fine then. I'll start. I've never have had any of the box stores actually grow. Maybe a strip mall and an auto repair shop but that's it. As for the stuff that won't grow, the game chooses from a pool of lots. It evauates the jobs it has and other factors like wealth and decides on what it thinks is best. Unfortunly, improperly done buildings mess up the process, ethier not growing or growing like mushrooms. Have you tried the ploppable commercials on the LEX. The lots still grow, but you can also plop from the landmark menu. There's a huge number of those things! All the restaurants, hotels, and big box stores you'll ever want! I never actually tried the Best Buy,but I'll take a look at it. Multiple copies of the lot don't do anything but slow down the game(minuscley of course) since their occuping the same memory space.

Trust me, that toll plaza I described would keep traffic traffic flowing smoothly.quote> That would take up too much land for little benift. There's always a way around in town if the DOT gets it's way. Right Patricius Maximus?
