Hi all, this is my first thread here. I'm having a problem with the mass transit systems in my cities. I'm a fan of grid cities rather than sprawl cities, but that's maily to do with the fact that I like a certain degree of symmetry. Anyhow, here is my problem: My cities are mostly made up of 6x6 grids, with avenues separating them. Each grid has a bus stop and a subway stop, so my Sims don't have to walk far to access mass transit. However, most of my Sims take their cars, which clogs up my avenues and causes abandonment due to long commute times. I have the shuttle service and carpooling ordinances enacted, but this doesn't seem to help much. I've also tried placing parking garages, but these on;y get used by one or two cars at most. I know R$$$ Sims prefer their cars over mass transit, but surely they shouldn't be able to clog avenues as there aren't a lot of them. Is there a mass transit system that R$$$ Sims will use, instead of getting snotty and using their cars all the time? As far as I can tell, buses don't add to traffic congestion. Howver, do they contribute to traffic volume? If so, wouldn't many buses cause congestion by themselves, as the volume of the road, avenue etc. cannot hold a large number of buses?
