Future of SimCity Official Discussion Thread
mayors replied to Compromise's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
There are other empire/city building games I think cimcity can learn from. Civ IV - Militiary - It would be nice to see invasions in Simcity, although it would be sorta wierd i have to admitt Ethnicity - In Civ IV a city with varying ethnicities has detrimental effects on the cities loyalty and overall well being Resources - A city with a copper resource gains a new trade item and also some projects are halved in building costs (eg copper havles the building cost of the Internet) city specialists - At the start, when all or most of the population is required to work for food, but later on as technology and population increases, more food is available and some people are able to specialize, eg become scientists or engineers. In simcity, this could be implemented by having a threshold of an amount of citizens required to work and be productive but changes as with education, population etc. They would affect the city through things like altering building costs, affecting what buildings sprout in RCI zones. Pharoah - (this is a really old game) Kingdom Road - In pharoah, when you started a city, a road was already present running from the edges of the map. In simcity, a region should start with a road/highway going through it Military - again. storyline - in pharoah this is the story of your family line from predynastic periods to the new kingdom. sometimes you are required to build a prospering city, other times you are given a city that is in dire need of improvement. Rank - if storyline was implemented, this would mean the player would need to ascend in rank in order to gain some advantages. eg, a player may start at the Council Member rank and work his way up to mayor. lower ranks would not have access to things like zoning high density and so on. -
the highest HT is 76? x) my 6000 res buildings are R$ yes, but they are at like 200 education (maxed) my other buildings for R$$ and R$$$ are in the 1000-4000 range (I get a LOT of bell towers.) I think I've seen quite a few west and co. but thats pretty much t. thanks for the helps!

Yeh stages are like the densities further broken down. Low density is from stage 1-3. Stage 1 are your smallest things like mobile homes and stage 3 will be your largest low density (like those duplexes with 13 people. Medium density is 4-6. 4 are those small brick apartments that house around 30-40 people. Stage 6 is your tenements with around 400. Finally high density is stage 7-8 and I havent seen much of these, hence my problem. About the agriculture, I tried zoning in a city with about 30k pop. Still pumpkin akres and nothing else. After that, agriculture usually gets capped out. For the HT, I already have about 4000 HT jobs but nothing big still. I think my CO is explainable I have yet to see the 900 job building (max is 700 now) I have a dense area of Cs and Co with jobs from 100-700. My residential is already had like 6000 a building. Its just sorta wierd that they are out of proportion by this much. My reisdential demand is around neutral or negative now and the CO$$ and CO$$$ demand is maxed. Still nothing big?

Um, how do I put this... Basically I am never seeing anything above stg 6 for every single devloper type expect residential. Even for agriculture and industry, I have never seen any stage 3. For examaple, I have high agricultural demand and a pop of only a few thousand. When I zone agriculture, all I get is pumpkin akres, I am serious I have never seen ANY other type of agricultur. (I zoned an entire medium tile with agriculture and it was ALL pumpkin akres. :'( In another city, the population is currently 126, 000 and I have a few stage 8 or 7 residential lots (the only type I ever see) and commercial office/service demand is through the roof. IHT demand is soaring too. I zone high density for both. For IHT I just see the Andrews semiconductor or some microchip building, never anything big. (I zoned a quarter of a large tile of IHT btw) For commercial, I get a few farleys audio and whatever, usually with a max of 700 jobs, and NEVER anything that even resembles a skyscraper. The demand is still at like 4000. Customers is high and everything bad is low.. I just dont get it. I been playing simcity on and off for four years now. I have never seen a stage 7 or 8 commercial or a stage 3 industrial my entire time playing. what is wrong?

=demands caps are when .. erll I'm not sure how to describe it but prima guide says that it is when a particular developer type hits a 'ceiling' and you will end up with 0 demand, even though demand may be very high. the important thing is, demand caps are easy to fi. for inudstry, just build road connections to neigbours to raise the cap by a few thousand as well as seaports.. for residential, parks rewards etc help and for commerce, I'm not too sure by try an airport. also your ciyt seems to be dying from transit problems (ithink?) try installing mass transit systems. of course it would have been easier if you werent losing money, but if the whole city is full I doubt you should ever lose money. If your school has say, 300 students then adjust the slider so that the capacity is at like 350. having full funding when you dont need it not only wastes money, it does nothing. also try a sunken highway if u can and tunnel where you meet development and pic would be nice
