A plea (By myself) to Maxis to make Sim City 2000 Open Source

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
SusanMarie1956 replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
It's a shame that Tarkus made the move just as my internet was down. I had found a slight problem with the RHW that needs to be addressed. First off, I love the work that has been done with the project to this date. The problem that I found when experimenting with both 2 lane and 4 lane ANT roads is their rate of climb up the side of a hill or mountain. I started replacing the Maxis default freeways with the divided RHW's. Most of these routes where it doesn't need to be more than 4 lanes are hilly or moutainess. What was simple task to go over a hill for the default freeway turned out to be a massive rebuilt because the RHW didn't climb as well. In the end, I wound up abandoning the project until I could get further feedback on this. Is this possibly an inheirant feature in the ANT? Or is this something that can be fixed?- 3,919 Replies

I too would like to see multiple lanes exits. I have two major freeway routes dividing up. (Much like a Y pattern, only no connections between East and West bound. I made an illustration, but can't figure out how to load it to stex.- 3,919 Replies

I do agree with Andreas Roth about the length of the interchanges. Granted that Maxi's are short in comparison to what you're developing. After all, the name of the game is SimCity which means it is simulation of the real world counterpart. It doesn't mean that it has to be 100% accurate to the real world. As long as the dynamics and functionallity are there. Course being the sim-mers, sim-minites, er sim(fill in blank here) that we are, we're all attracted to new possibilities for our cities and all that gorgious eye candy! Ok, I'll get off the soap box.- 3,919 Replies

Guess it's time to go out of lurk mode now. I've been monitoring this thread for a few months now. Tarkus, you are doing an absolute fantastic job with these pieces and creating new forms of transportation for SC4&RH. One question to add to all the multitudes being asked. Will you be able to create diagonal interchanges, where the road/highway comes at a 45 degree angle and does not continue on the other side. Again, great job, and I'll try not lurk anymore.- 3,919 Replies

Thank you thank you thank you. The upside down pyramid has been a Tucson Landmark for years. Just about everyone in Tucson knows about it. It's great to see you added the drive through as well. Many years ago, that use to be my bank, before BoA bought them and put it out of business. Since then, it has been so many different financial institutions, I've lost count. Most Nico's are converted from old DQ's when they went out of business. There is one on Golf Links west of Pantano Rd.

Just finished reading from beginning to end. Needless to say, it is impressive, very impressive. What else can be said? Except, "More please." -
