  1. BS The game doesn't need a reboot, it needs a continuation from SimCity 4. All they had to do was fix the things that didn't work, improve the graphics and add features. But they're rebooting it from the ground up for no good reason. They are not trying to make the actual game better, just it's revenue. They're basically taking a diarrhea dump all over the game's history. You want to make money off players who played the Sims? Fine, make a Sims game. Stop sucking the life out of my city builder.
  2. The maps in the new SimCity are the size of medium maps in SimCity 4. I can't imagine anyone having transportation issues on a map that size with pre-existing connections to neighbors. Chalk up one more thing SimCity is losing.
  3. Lack of Highways

Why would I need a highway in a city less than 2 square km?
  4. Ya know, it's not like the SimCity community hasn't been crystal clear about what we wanted in SimCity 5. We've been talking about it for years and most of the players are pretty unanimous about what they want to see in the next SimCity. It's not exactly a big secret. You have to pretty STUPID to not know what we wanted. All Maxis really had to do was know how to read.
  5. Simcity 2013: Community Interviews: Part 2

This happens all the time. One set of developers makes a great game, then it becomes wildly successful so they rebuild the game from the game up, while changing virtually every mechanic because the developers of the sequels think they're better than the developers that made the original. They refuse to stick with the concepts that worked and in turn end up killing the franchise. NEWS FLASH, the original developers did it right, you're doing it wrong. Don't put features in that have been proven to fail in other titles. Musician's do this all the time. Hey, we made a really good metal album, people love us! For our next album, let's experiment and try a new direction! New album flops. DUH!
  6. Love SimCity, they've all been great until Societies... I love most the simulation, I like struggling to get people to move into my city and stay there. I anticipate SimCity 5 though 2 huge things are causing me concern and in the end will most likely cause me to not enjoy the game. 1. Resources. All the resources are finite. And when the resources run out, my city will collapse. I can tell you right now that won't be fun. Basically you're telling me I'll have a set amount of time I can build a city for and after that, it's game over. I don't like that at all. 2. No connecting roads to region play. SimCity 4 had the regions connecting however I wanted. It worked, it was a great system. Why remove that? It's bad enough I have to be always online (which has proven to kill the fun in more than one game I should add), why can't I connect my region how I want? Game looks like it might have potential, but those two things are going to drain the fun out of it for me I think. Please reconsider.
  7. I think they're afraid to call it SimCity 5 because they know they're straying far enough away from 4 that it won't really be a SimCity 5. It amazes me how much work they put in to not giving us what we want. We want SimCity 5, the follow-up to SimCity 4. Well, here's SimCity Societies. We want SimCity 5, the follow-up to SimCity 4. We've made a Facebook version of SimCity, check it out. We want SimCity 5, the follow-up to SimCity 4. How about SIMCITY! We're gonna completely re-write it similar to SimCity 4, but we're gonna take away some of your favorite things, like region play and we're gonna make the maps really small. We want SimCity 5, the follow-up to SimCity 4. Here's another way to look at it. SimCity 4 was SO GOOD, why would you NOT want to go with that model for the next game. Stay on the path.
  8. I'm a slow builder. I'm also kind of a perfectionist so don't expect a lot of speedy updates. This is my current Cities XL city, Retropolis: The city is hovering a little over 42,000 inhabitants at the moment. Traffic is good, all services are provided. Enjoy.
  9. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

131,709 population. This area between the two bridges is where I'll be working on next. Probably a nice mix of qualified and unqualified workers and some more offices which are still in demand. The area to the upper left needs to be moved completely as well. The air polution from the factories is affecting the farms, oops. Einstein.
  10. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

Thanks for the comments, I like comments So I upgraded one of the main arteries in my small road system. Now that I have 100,000 people I can build expressways which is just what was needed. Here are some before and after shots. You'll notice I was also able to update the layout where the bridge connects to better accomodate the actual flow of the traffic. As an added benefit, traffic tension was relieved everywhere in the city just from this one, (albiet planned way ahead of time) upgrade. Just look at the east road that goes under the bridge. That's gonna allow me to increase the population back there. Before: After: It's better.
  11. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

Traffic map. Posted in another thread but decided to put it here also to keep it all together. There are no roads larger than small avenues at this point so there's a little red. Red.
  12. Show us your roadmaps

Here's the roadmap for my city Retropolis while at 105k people. There may seem to be heavy traffic in some areas but the largest I'm using for roads at this point are small avenues so it's not that much. I want buses. And on/off ramps.
  13. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

105,000 people now, need to take a break from building outward and make sure services are providing for everyone while building upward in specific areas. This map is the elevations so you can see how I build my cities on the lowest ground first and then go from there. Pickles.
  14. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

82,000 people, starting to beautify things up a little bit. Here's a bridge with no traffic because it doesn't go anywhere yet. Makes for a good picture though. Peaches.
  15. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

A view from the other end so you can see how the area around the new Wheat Park is developing. Planning a nice executive housing area near the river in the back. 52,000 people about now. Fun.
  16. Retropolis - A slow simmering city

Totally redid this part, only gained 2,000 people today but it'll be worth it. Where the farms come into the city I added a park with a grain stalk design to represent how the city got it's start as simple farmers and all that role-play kinda stuff. More later.
  17. ...and it was *****. Just like I thought it was going to be. SimCity 5 please. Bring back Maxis. Dump Tilted Mill. Forget this ever happened.
  18. All Your Base

    .....
  19. I would like to make a confession

I like water pipes. As I grow my city I distribute water as needed. If I supply it too early I end up with too many high wealth people living in places I have plans to be low residential areas. Don't forget you have to keep the water pipes away from water pollution which is another aspect of city management. Water pipes really aren't that complicated though. I think the problems new players have is they don't know they have to lay them because they don't RTFM.
  20. The Plopmatic 9000

    Supergay. Play the game.
  21. Alexandria Lakes

    Too big, no config.
  22. Chesapeake Bay

I know he was being sarcastic, as was I. It's a nice region I'm sure.
  23. Chesapeake Bay

The two was an accident actually, and I couldn't figure out how to change it. I was going to hold my vote but since you thanked me for it...
  24. Chesapeake Bay

I'm pretty sure the Chesapeake Bay is in Maryland.
  25. Camco Construction

It's a commercial lot. Think Jon Deer and you'll understand what kind of lot it is. I agree it needs a fenceand would like to know it's stats too.7 for now.
