2nerdy4u - Very well! Pictures and Querries of those will be displayed very shortly. ObladiOblada - Keep me posted! iamihop11 - Sweet, college dorm, Whats your major and what college do you attend if you don't mind my asking? Lina Park construction has been authorized to commence and ground breaking shall begin on Sunday Afternoon of August 26th, 2007 ... I will then post your deed and your responsabilities on the update following this... ________________________________________________ Alright, lets get moving.. 2nerdy4u and Yoshiisland have requested Data for the Downtown Bridges... Lets get some data for that! First being... The Eaton Bridge - Hwy 4 Total Tiles - 98 Style - Avenue Formula - 0.5 Points Per Tile Equation - 0.5 * 98 Tiles = Cost Cost - 49 Points Tolled - Additional 20 Points Total Cost - 69 Points Traffic Querries Westbound Lanes: Eastbound Lanes: Income Produced - Style - Avenue Income Produced by Avenue Tiles - 0.2 Points per CJ Month Formula - 0.2 Points * 98 Tiles Avenue Income - 19.6 Points per CJ Month -----Toll---- Total Commuters - 3544 (Morning / Evening) Formula - 0.2 Points per 50 Cars 3544 Divded by 50 = 70.88 70.88 * 0.2 = 14.176 = TOLL INCOME Toll Income Produced - 33.8 Points per CJ Month Benefit on a 3 CJ month play period - 33.8* 3 = 101.4 Points 101.4 - 69 Points (Deducted every REAL month) = 32.4 Points Per REAL Month Total Points per REAL Month WITHOUT Toll = 9.8 Points _________________ Now the next one is.... The South Island Bridge - Hwy 35 Total Tiles - 84 Style - Avenue Formula - 0.5 Points Per Tile Equation - 0.5 * 84 Tiles = Cost Cost - 42 Points Tolled - Additional 20 Points Total Cost - 62 Points per REAL Month Traffic Querries Northbound Lanes: Southbound Lanes: Income Produced - Style - Avenue Income Produced by Avenue Tiles - 0.2 Points per CJ Month Formula - 0.2 Points * 84 Tiles Avenue Income - 16.8 Points per CJ Month -----Toll---- Total Commuters - 8438 (Morning / Evening) Formula - 0.2 Points per 50 Cars 8438 Divded by 50 = 168.76 168.76 * 0.2 = 33.752 = TOLL INCOME Toll Income Produced - 50.6 Points per CJ Month Benefit on a 3 CJ month play period - 50.6* 3 = 151.8 Points 151.8 - 62 Points (Deducted every REAL month) = 89.8 Points Per REAL Month Total Points per REAL Month WITHOUT Toll = 8.4 Points As we can tell, there's some serious points to be made in owning tolled bridges... The numbers are exponential according to the traffic that uses them so buy carefully. If you buy a bridge with little to no cars then it's not a good idea to toll it as the extra 20 Points involved Per Toll will not make the deal worth it. I know none of you have enough points to purchase the bridges yet so I'll tell you what you can do... Option A: - Since the bridges are tolled, you can go as much as 20 Points in Debt which will allow you to purchase the bridges however you'll be low on points. The Debt with be instantly paid off within the first Month of adding points... ... or Option B: - You can Co-Sign with a partner who's participating (Example: YoshiIsland and 2Nerdy4u owning the same bridge as partners) and your cost, and monthly points award will be divided equally between your accounts. Only problem is, you both will have to agree upon a name for the Bridge. _______________________________ Simtropolis View Update 5! Good morning citizens and investors of Newark! Today, we're going to have a closer look at the downtown section of Newark and Eaton to get a feel for the economics of this region! but before we get too in debth, lets have a closer morning shot and a cup of coffee... well actually coffee's on me, I'm allergic to caffine... The city streets seem to be filling up with commuters rushing their way to their desk jobs in the North East Portion of Downtown Newark. It's best if we stay out of their way. The natives here can be very aggressive and the lack of a Highway Patrol in this region can cause for some rude first hand experiences... Ah yes, much better... 10 A.M. and mostly everyone is where they need to be which leaves the town - mostly to ourselves. First, lets have a look at a few Key Points in this town and we'll start with the Obviouse #1 - Newark Central High School and Elementary School - These schools are funded by the States in effort to rise the probability of residents getting an strong enough education to work for the Industries which propel Newark. The Industries are also owned by the States and thus Money out comes Money in... #2 - Newark Central Hospital - This is the one of few Hospitals on this island that is civilian accessable. It is also funded by the states and was biult primarily to aid against work accidents in which Industries were severely losing money or employees when treatment had to be performed in Europe or The United States, both spanning over a 1,000 Mile Flight. #3 - Finally, not a utility but the developing urban projects of Midtown! - Midtown is used for Higher Density homes for those who wish to live and work near Downtown. Due to the high residential demand and limited land available, the land value's here are skyrocketing overnight and it isn't easy to get an apartment cheap, even the slummy ones. Also, this area was prone to a severe influx when the price of Fuel rose above $4.00 per gallon making shorter commutes far more desirable... Midtown Extends from West of Highway 35 until the railroad tracks where it proceeds south until the ridge that lets way to the seaport. #4 - North East Downtown, The central urban district and regional headquarters for many of the indstries that occupy Newark. - This is the heart of downtown in which you will find the tallest Commercial Offices. This area is also one of the few areas in Newark in which very lucky individuals could find White Collared Jobs. The intense development and economic stress within the Newark Region puts alot of pressure on this relatively small area of land and it can be seen and heard throughout every citizen who dares to work here... - This area extends East of Highway 35 into the Oconee River and North of Highway 4 until reaching the South Shore Rail Line, just south of the East / West Connector. #5 - South East Downtown, The Southern portion of Downtown, often referred to as The most beautiful portion of Newarks Downtown - This area has been mixxed between high class apartments who's residents enjoy overlooking the Mouth of the Oconee River in which the lights from the South Island Bridge and the Eaton bridge proudly reflect from. Several businesses also reside here aswell. This is the smallest portion of Downtown as it's surrounded by both The Eaton and South Island Bridge. Commercial Office here is relatively light This section also hosts most of the regions main concerts and events as it is the only tourism hotspot in Newark. The entire Downtown area can be seen clearly from the well shaded parks and the ocean breeze is the first felt here aswell as the untouched fresh air of nature. A closer look at the resort region of the South East Downtown area.. Lets cross over the Oconnee river, here we'll find the other half of Downtown where the more wealthy populous of Newark live... Eaton, and Downtown Eaton consists mostly of apartments and Condo's in which residents who desire to live near the refreshing bay of both the Oconee and Atlantic Ocean dwell. This area flourishes with parks and palm tree's. The distance to Newark is still small however no pedestrian travel to the Newark Downtown area exists at the moment. lets have a look to see what we have. #1. - Eaton Central HighSchool - An American Funded High School built in Eaton to educate those living in the eaton area. This also prevents unnecessary bridge hopping during the rushhour commutes to travel to Newark Central High. The school district also sprawls into the suburban area of Eaton making for a healthy middle class in this area. Neighboring the school is a public library in which research can be quietly performed by both students or citizens. #2. - South Downtown Eaton - This is where most of the apartment and condomenium development occured. The land values are signifficantly higher as it is locaed on the mouth of the Oconee River and Atlantic Ocean... All of this was once simply farmland however the skyrocketing middle class demand for lofts and an area nearby jobs simply sewed this place into existance. Acres of Farmland was the sacrifice. Highway 4, which used to be 1 lane each way all the way into downtown Newark where it intersected Highway 35 had to be upgraded into a divided highway... #3. - North Downtown Eaton - Still parralell with the banks of the fresh Oconee river, Eaton has it's jewels of intermixxing parks with condomeniums and high density homes in effort to give the populous a relaxxing feel while offering them convinience. While this area isn't typically as expensive as the South Downtown Eaton area is, it makes an excellent choice to live as the Downtown view of Newark is instantly visable from the shore of the Oconee... The Eaton Bridge, Docking Highway 4 just east of the shores of the Oconee in which it proceeds eastward into Eaton, where it degrades into 1 lane each way and proceeds into Millidgeville. Now lets have a look around the downtown of Eaton.... South Downtown Eaton, you can immagine, rushhour here is difficult as the roads here once occupied farmland and were exposed to shock of pure urban sprite. Many streets remain unupgraded and several intersections remain uncontrolled by traffic lights. This road leads you to Hwy 4. Close up on some local condomeniums, Apparently the empty parking lot and empty streets can only mean that mostly everyone here is employed and working their day job. Cedar Heights Condo's is sitting between two streets awaiting conditions to call for their upgrades... West now, closing in on the Oconee river, biult upon the rising bank as it merges into Mainland are the lofts which sit one atop another, each loft having it's own distinct view of the Newark Downtown area. Named after the river in which it overlooks, Oconee Lofts. Closer look at Highway 4 and the two intersections that make up Downtown Eaton before ascending into the Eaton bridge. North Eaton Island, an example of the community and city project to leave residents here with a sense of a quiet peacefull urban nature by providing city funded parks and gardens. It's not uncommon to see Dates passing through this area as they gaze upon the Downtown Newark reflection over the Oconee River... Thats all for now... Oh yes, sorry for the grid but most of these images were taken BEFORE I knew how to turn it off... when we come to present, there will be no more grid shots... Thank you and have fun fellow Simtropolitans... _______________________________ -

You actually brought up a VERY good point... I will not be deducting points at the end of August or September Also if I see a situation coming in which players will unfairly be unable to gain points due to a falicy in the run time (3 game months or less) - No points will be deducted for that month aswell! The CJ Timeline hasn't really begun yet. Everything that was posted was to make up for the months of my biulding this city - as in while I was contemplating making this CJ, I was also biulding the city only I wasn't able to display it until recently... As for the traffic querries and bridge tolling, you'll have to purchase rights to the bridge before you can add a toll to it as it's still city property however when it is owned and maintained by you, then you can toll it, upgrade it, whatever you wish... Are you interested in purchasing a bridge? ____________________________________________ Score Name Points 2nerdy4u 54 Almighty Nienaber 50 Amerikaner 50 autoVino 50 Benedict 50 cleaner475 50 Cjah 50 Cowboy[Texas] 51 Critterman 50 DarkEldar 30 Dr Lezard 50 granto93 50 homeandaway 30 Houston_Fan 30 iamihop11 33 jacqulina 53 jimmyCo 50 Krio 50 manman99 50 mencc1701 50 Moshi 30 MsD 50 ObladiOblada 53 ODST_27 50 PennDOTguy 50 PhatHead 50 rct3twins 30 SaltandVinegar 50 Sim_Air 31 Simfan34 50 sobol 50 Tommy_Vercetti3 30 truflip99 30 Yoshiisland 53 yoshikoroyimara 30 -

Depends on how many tiles... They cost 2 Points per tile innitially. Then 2 Points per tile + 2 points per 50 passengers on a real life monthly basis afterward... I'll give you half price of the total since it's custom. -

cleaner475 - Yes, you're allowed to look and buy within the same Parcel, just not the exact same land unless that is you're buying jointly (using half of your points and half of their points in which I'd need to see both parties agree)... Thank you! 2nerdy4u - Depending on the type, 8 points for pasenger and 16 points for car and passenger if I use the Maxis defaults... If you provide another, I'll give you a discount for creativity... Also... you will be awarded points on a simulated monthly basis - 1 point per tile + 1 point per 50 passengers will be awarded monthly - Yoshiisland - Avenue bridges will cost 0.5 Points per tile, meaning 1 point per length (0.5 per each direction)... Yes down the road you can, and probably will have to upgrade the bridge as time progresses. If it needs to be upgraded and you fear you might not have the points, you can also always toll it to accumulate the points you need until you have what you need. I will provide you with traffic updates... Currently the interstate system hasn't arrived to Newark yet as it has not yet become a state, that happens later during the storyline... I'll give you a full price on the South Island bridge by Friday if that is okay... I'm running a tad lean on time. Also for those who're starting subdivisions and developments, if you can or know someone who can bat, I encourage you to make subdivision lables that're found on the main road right before you enter the subdivision, I will add them to your subdivision this way we can have a unique feel... -

Mini Update! jacqulina - Thanks alot! ObladiOblada - Yeah, I biult it on a rather slow and steady pace so each area could resemble something unique about itself... The coolest part is, it's not entirely eye candy as it is 100% functional aswell, even the freight stations at the Seaport - they truly do ship goods to the seaport where the seaport acts as a neighbor connection. Moshi - I'll keep that in mind! Thanks for the suggestion. You've been added to the score list and you will begin with 30 Points. iamihop11 - Very well, I believe I understand what you desire and I can begin biulding immediately, check the post above to see if I understand correctly... Just to note however, the region has no Bus service or Railroad Passenger service as of yet... 2nerdy4u - Pictures of that are coming up... Yoshiisland - Yes, I know of the South Shore Line in Chicago Illinoise, It is elevated in Chicago and has at-grade crossings through Indiana and is proppelled by overhead electric lines running parrallel with I-80/90 and Freight Rail Lines just south of the Beach for Lake Michigan for a good portion of its trip... ...I used to ride that train every day when I lived in the East Chicago Suburbs of Indiana, just east of Gary... I loved trains - Chicago by far has the most awsome train system in this country, only seconded by New York. I live in Atlanta and we have a laughable exuse for a rail system, it's a joke really. I believe they have put a portion of the South Shore Line underground where it used to have At-Grade Crossings just after the Terminus of the Skyway just east of Downtown Chicago. As for the Freight Rail Station, I'll have to look it up for you as I only have the data file that was coppied from my old PC on this computer... ... Simtropolis isn't letting me search. The filename however is GE_Freightstation if that helps... Sorry I can't help just yet... Yes, it is possible to purchase and name bridges... Street bridges cost 0.2 points per tile. Road bridges cost 0.3 points per tile. Avenue bridges cost 0.5 points per tile. Highway bridges cost 0.7 points per tile. Interstate bridges cost 1 point per tile. Rail Bridges cost 0.4 points per tile. ____________________________________________________ Now....2nerdy4u is requesting pictures of Grid A D2 for Parcel 4... For reference and tiles... I took the snapshot as the tiles were activating this way you can have a understanding of how many tiles there are.. In this picture, each grid holds 4 tiles... Now for the description... As for the bridges, I can host an Ad and discount the construction of a Bridge from any member who desires to invest in one. It will be tolled until your point debt for this structure is paid off and that member will recieve points from the toll... Should you have any questions, feel free to ask. Update 5 should be posted by Friday Night or Saturday morning. Enjoy! -

Originally posted by: iamihop11 Once again, I am impressed by the detail and realism. My favorite element of this last update was certainly the seaport -- very well done. I like the look of that farm, but I don't have enough points to purchase the whole thing yet, so I sketched out a plan for a possible residential development, that I would like to call Lina Park. Phase I is included in the picture of the area: http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/731/parcel211outlayqf9.jpg Red encircles the desired land to be purchased, Dark green represents medium-density residential, light green = low-density residential, dark blue outlines bus stops, aqua outlines the two proposed parks, and gray indicates the street to service the development. The drawing may not be completely accurate because the farmland made it more difficult to discern the grid, but it gives a good sense. Phase II of development, which might be developed further once I gather more points, might include purchasing the rest of the farm, enlarging the road providing access to it, adding more residential and perhaps (if zoning allows it) some minor commercial offices. Also, a proposal exists to build a passenger and/or freight rail station on the opposite side of the tracks from Lina Park. Finally, phase II would begin to address education, healthcare, and athletics in the region, unless this is handled by the government. Hopefully this isn't too long, but I've done a cost estimate for the project. There are some gaps which need to be filled, and my math may be wrong, so it'll need to be checked: Purchase 49 tiles + 49 tiles + 21 tiles = 119 tiles purchased at .2 points/tile = 23.8 points Destruction Destruction of development on 105 tiles : 105 * .1 = 10.5 points 34.3 Points for purchase and destruction Zoning, Development 41 mid-density tiles– 4.1 to zone 57 low-density tiles – 5.7 to zone Total zoning: 9.8 points Transportation 1.4 points for 14 street tiles 2 bus stops -- ??? Upgrade service street to road : 15 tiles at ??? points/tile Road to be named Lina Park Way. Parks, recreation 1 medium park green – 4 tiles at .5 points/tile : 2 points 1 small flower garden – 1 tile at .5 points/tile : .5 points Current Funds – 31 points Development Grant – 20 points Lina Park Development Cost – 48 points + 2 bus stops/Road upgrade P.S. I'm having WAY too much fun planning this thing...maybe I should forget English and go into urban planning. quote> Construction will start immideately upon your approval that if I understand correctly - 32 Points + 20 Point development grant = 52 Points Lina Park Development = 48 Points - Road upgrades and Bus Service (when it's available) will be covered by the city at no charge to you as it's the city's job to ensure that traffic flows correctly. Since this road leads to your subdivision, you will also beable to name it, and any street in your subdivison at no charge additionally.. This leaves you with a total of... 4 Points - Shall I proceed? -

Yoshiisland - You now live in Ft' Lauderdale? I live in Atlanta GA and I know where Ft'Lauderdale is, between the Florida Turnpike and I-95 Correct? Nice to know we have some southeasterns. I know of all the farms that way too, especially orange farms, I drove U.S. 27 from Orlando to Miami (next time I'm hopping on the TurnPike) and passed through several small towns and farms. It was cool, kept running in and out of rain though. Florida's weather is unbelievable. Completely cloudless on oneside of the highway and Doomsday rain on the otherside. 2nerdy4u - Thanks, Parcel 4 is coming up. ObladiOblada - Thanks, there's more to come aswell. jacqulina - Thanks, I try to be very detailed. iamihop11 - Thanks, I have photo's of C4 aswell as a price description. I made a mild mistake however - I thought you started with 50 Points but instead it was only 30... I'm sorry. Basically though since Residential Demand is sky rocketing anyway, the government will "Grant" you points to biuld. Houston_Fan - I've added you to the scoreboard - you begin with 30... truflip99 - Thanks, you've been added to the scoreboard, you'll begin with 30 points. Okay, lets get started... _________________________________ First thing's first, 2nerdy4u wants to see Parcel 4 and iamihop11 wants to see Parcel C4 of Parcel 21... First lets have a look at... Parcel 4 Grid A Grid B Parcel 4 is divided into two Islands, One grid for each island. Neither of them are named so I'll give you first choice on naming them when you choose. Just choose a grid section and tell me what you think and we'll go from there... As for iamihop11 - Lets have a look at C4... Simply click on these images for more information. For your points, since I didn't realize before posting this image... I will leave with the points listed to biuld your subdivision. If you have any questions... tell me and I'll be more than happy to answer them... Now lets get on with... Update 4! ________________________________________________________ As we last left off, Soni has been placed in his new Home in the Newark Region, Millidgeville. While things arn't going to be very convinient for him at the moment, he will certainly make do. We're going to take a break from Soni's life for a moment and concentrate on the structure that this city is biult upon. Lets go over Highway 2, both the parts Soni traveled over and the parts we have yet to see. Entering the denser area of Newark, we continue to ride parralell to the railroad tracks. These tracks offer convinient shipping methods from Industries to ship to the Seaport. The power company's powerlines also follow the majority of this route westward to power farms and homes throughout this region. Hwy 2 passes over the rail lines that lead to the seaport and enters the downtown district. This stretch is used primairly by residents going towards the East/West Connector, or into Downtown. Entering Midtown which is full of mostly apartments and multifamily homes. Proceeding Eastward brings you closer to Downtown. The Elementary and High School conviniently located inside Midtown, right off of Highway 2, This usually causes for a huge traffic jam come morning time when the School Zone is activated. Proceeding over Highway 35 which remains the marker for Highway 2 that you're passing into Downtown... Hwy 2 Proceeds into Downtown, proceeding North East, passing by the Newark Region Hospital. Currently Hwy 2 remains only 2 lanes and during peak hours suffers traffic jams. Most of this portion of downtown was merely forestry and grasslands and only Hwy 2 a simple decade ago. Hwy 2 Proceeds through more Office Complex's that make up downtown, and an Old Water Tower that was once surrounded by nothing but trees. Hwy 2 Proceeds North, crossing over the railroad tracks and preparing its final interchange with the East/West connector. This intersection would make the end of downtown. This road is populated with Condo's and Apartments for those who crave the city life and want to live convinient to Downtown. After its final Interchange with The East / West Connector, Hwy 2 continues to proceed north, through several roads that access subdivions, apartments and businesses, and over another set of Railroad tracks. The power company's Pylons return,,, Proceeding North East, Hwy 2 runs paralell with the tracks, now with houses and subdivisions sparciely scattered upon it. - Gas stations can be found here and there as comercial property begins to boom... Hwy 2 Proceeds North East through the suburban Newark are, passing another High School, running parralell with the railroad tracks and power pylons. This sector servers to connect the suburban subdivisions into the Newark Downtown Area. The road out here being only two lanes is a complicated travel matter during rushhour... There are no limited access freeways that service this side of town. Hwy 2 will eventually have to be upgraded, but into what? Further North East from Downtown, we now see farms, and even another recycling center as the North Bridge docks from eaton into Newark preparing to intersect with Hwy 2. Farms are based off the railroad here for easy freight shipping and recieving. Rail stations are conviniently placed throughout the area permit transportig goods by rail without having to travel too far. This is to reduce truck congestion here... Hwy 2 Proceeds North East, Intersection the road that is carried across North Bridge, South into the Eaton Suburban area. This bridge allows residents quicker access to the farms this way without having to cross via the East/West connector to get to Highway 2. From here Highway 2 enter's Parcel 21 and into another rural farming community where it eventually just fades into nothingness but tree's as it follows the Oconee river North. With that said - Newark has 5 Major Bridges that provide access to 5 different portions of the city... Lets have a look. Riverside Pkwy intersecting the Interchange for the North Bridge Entrance on the Eaton Side of the Newark Region. This provides Eatons residents a quick way to cross over the Oconee River without using The East / West connector.. North Bridge is the far most bridge before entering Parcel 21. North Bridge crossing over the Oconee River, proceeding to Highway 2. You can usually see your job from this high as most employers and farms are below the bridge height level. The East/West Connector and South Shore Rail line share positions as they cross over the Oconee river, the suburban Eaton community into Downtown Newark. The rail line is used to transport freight from farther east, and was heavily use to transport freight when Eaton was mostly farmland. Eaton Bridge was biult to carry Highway 4 from Downtown Newark at it's Hwy 35 Terminus, to Eaton's suburban area... it was only 1 lane eachway when Eaton was mostly farmland, however recently upgraded into a Divided 2 lane each way Highway. The Eaton side of this bridge has an escalating population as Town Homes, Apartments and Condo's have biult upon the banks of the Oconee River and Shores of the Ocean as residents wanted to be near the Newark Downtown area. Highway 4 and Highway 35 Prepare to Ascend into bridges from their Intersections as they leave Downtown, Hwy 4 to Eaton and Hwy 35 to South Island. South Island Bridge connecting the residents from the Sky Rocketing landvalues of South Island, into Downtown Newark, this bridge was also recently widened into two lanes each direction to accomidate for escalating traffic and a growing downtown. and those are the bridges in the Newark Region. With that said, that leaves us with only the rail system to cover. The rail system in Newark is based on a Collector / Distributor system which offers depots and freight stations throughout the region to collect goods and put them onto a Train. Private Industries also posess Rail Rights... This freight station collects both, resources and goods imported from the Coaling Mountains North of here, where they are either stored or manufactured and sent south into the Seaport, or recieves goods from the industries within the area to export them at the Seaport. Train leaving for the Seaport. Massive Rail Junction brings Rails from throughout the region together as they head for the seaport for exporting and importing goods. Newarks Seaport in which the Rails form a V around it, loading and unloading at the major port areas. From here, Newarks goods enter a long journey across the Atlantic ocean, into their destination in which the goods are sold to benefit the growing economy of Newark. Thats all for the transportation briefing... Before I stop, lets have a look at some teasers for our next update which will go in debth about the city itself... _______________________________________________ This is the denser urban area of Newark, lets have a look at whats highlighted... #1 - Midtown, Mostly Lowerclass Apartments and Residential Areas. #2 - Downtown Newark, Most Commercial Office of $$ and alittle bit of $$$ with sprouts of Condo's and Apartments for a higher value. #3 - Downtown Eaton, While apart of Newark's Region, the eastern side of Eaton is mainly a suburban community. This portion is biult of Higher Priced Condo's, and Apartments as it is convinient and easy to get to Downtown. #4 - The Newark Seaport, Imports and Exports goods from the Newark Region. #5 - Dense Industrial Area - This area was at first smaller however convinient access to the bypass, highway 202 allowed trucks to easily manuever between here and commercial services. This also serves as a waypoint between the Coaling Industries before arriving at the Seaport. Closer look at Downtown Newark / Eaton. ________________________________________________ Thats all for now, it's been fun but until next time Simtropolitans! Take care! -

Sim_Air - Thanks! DarkEldar - The Inclines were biult mainly for bridges although some of them didn't come out perfectly iamihop11 - I'll be posting Parcel 11 in this upcoming update - The space you're talking about is devolped with homes on the North Bank and Farms / Rural area on the South Bank - It is conviniently placed between Highway 2 and The East West Connector at Exit 12 for quick access into the city... Yoshiisland - Thanks! I was wondering how this project would turn out being this is the first time I've biult a CJ and is honestly only my 2nd real region since I've purchased this game (My first one failed as was deleted because it wasn't realistic enough...) jacqulina - Thanks! The remainder of Update 3 will be posted - in which you will find where Soni lives ... ... Where this is going Update 4 - will cover the remainder of the region's transportation system... Update's 5 - 7 - We will finally be seeing some city pictures, Downtown, Industrial Areas, and finally the Residents... Update's 8 - 10 We will be covering the Education System and making improvements as we see fit - Also we will plan a university via Yoshilands pack, and break ground for construction... Don't get too caught on the guidelines however, should you be interested in throwing up a house, owning a street, starting a subdivision, development, whatever it may be - feel free to ask... _____________________________________________________ The Score A few additions aswell as updates... lets see what we have... Now - lets get a grid shot to see which area you're interested in. The land values are as followed - South of the Oconee - 0.2 Points Per Tile North of the Oconee - 0.4 Points Per Tile Add 0.2 Points per Tile for Beachfront Property! Simply tell me which area interests you and we'll get a close up shot and arrange a file transfer - or I'll email it and from there we'll decide the best location to biuld your house. And now back to our update Update 3.5! _________________________________________________________________________ Soni - This place doesn't seem half bad... Downtown is pretty stout for a city that isn't even supposed to exist... -- Soni looked around, the scenery was much more appealing to the eye than the western area they departed from - No trash on the streets, no slums bumming around, and the area had a much more fresh feel to it -- Soni - This place is noticably different, it looks almost like an American Suhburb. Cornell - Yes, This is Eaton ... The wealthier side of town, currently even economically in better standings than South Island... Although South Island typically has higher land values... -- Proceeding down Highway 4, Soni couldn't help but realize it felt almost entirely American, one thing was for certain aswell, they were sure passing alot of traffic lights. -- Soni - So why is the west side of town in worse shape? Cornell - It's not just the west side of town but everything that is on the opposite side of the Oconee river. It is that side that faces the most politcal debates. Also that side is where the most Industrial Action occurs and thus there's far more Blue Collared workers. Cornell - Also the land to the east is far newer and organized than the land to the west... Eaton was biult primarily as a suburban community when the demand for real estate sky rocketed here. That was because of the industrial boom. Most of them never saw it coming however. Soni - What do you mean? -- Soni looked to his right to find a lot filled with palm tree's - it was a resort hotel -- just as they prepared to cross over the railroad tracks -- Cornell - When the real estate market opened to a selective few to move into the Newark Region, the Blue Colar workers from the west had invested in the land of the east... Thus when the buyers finally arrived in Newark, they believed they would be getting a fresh start and a brand new 4 Bedroom 3 Bath 2 Car Garage home... Instead, they were forced to move into the west and work for the Industrial powerhouses. The natives had bought up and developed all the land in the East for themselves... Soni - I see... ... interesting, so is there any sign of economic boom ahead? Cornell - Yes, as a matter of fact. Newark has been amazing and quite possibaly one of the fastest growing urban areas in Man Kind's history. The foundation of resources is making people and businesses alike rich almost overnight. We still have quite a strong real estate demand and when people move in, rest assure commerce wants every dime they make and so shops are sprouting up everywere... They're using the rail system aswell to have trains deliver manufactured goods from our own industries... We rarely have to import anything here besides people. The Seaport is primarily used for Exporting. Soni - Interesting, that sounds very promising... How long do you think it will hold? Cornell - There's no way to be absolutely certain but at this rate, unless something severe happens, it won't be changing anytime soon... -- They proceeded through another residential area, and finally with a sense of comfort, Soni sat back and just watched the windows -- -- and with a sense of irk, he discovered a recycling plant in the middle of a residential area... -- Soni - Hmm.. A recyling center by these homes? Cornell - Yes, rather convinient I might add... ...There used to be nothing out here you see, The eastern side of town is newer than the west and this was merely all farmland until investors took over the property... this artifact is one of the few remains of the rural country this used to be... Soni - And just what happened to all the farms?? Cornell - They simply made larger ones, farther east... -- And it wasn't long before Soni realized he was correct -- Soni - Not that I'm in a rush or anything Cornell but we've been riding for quite awhile now... where exactly are we going? Cornell - The Furthest eastern town - Millidgeville... It's mainly a farming community MILES from the city... We should be there soon... -- Now,out in the middle of nowere, they came across another intersection, Soni took notice of a sign pointing the Direction of the East / West connector, they however turned just the opposite direction of it... Now heading South East... -- -- Soon the road met the railroad that Soni remembered crossing back in Eaton and continued Eastward through the farms and rural country... -- -- It winded through the rural country -- -- And when Soni was certain that they were in the middle of nowere, it proved true as opporunities to pass on the oncoming traffic lanes were introduced... There were almost no cars out this way...-- -- They passed another street in which Soni could find trucks entering and departing - it seemed to lead into an Indstrial Freight Station for the railroad...-- -- They however proceeded straight - forward into the farms the highway navigated through and soon the railroad rejoined them... -- -- After awhile, they finally reached an awkward trafficlight controlled intersection with a sparce few shops just hanging around in the middle of nowere. They proceeded about making a right turn crossing the railroad tracks...-- -- And not long after it, they proceeded upon making a left turn into the first subdivision.. Soni noticed to his right, a sign advertising a zone for agriculture development. -- Cornell - Well this is it, you're in Millidgeville and you're almost home... Soni - This place doesn't seem to happening... I'm out with the cows and the cornfields... Cornell - It's the best we can do currently I'm afraid the government can't put us in $200,000 homes.. We'll have to work our way up... -- They proceeded, Soni noticed a construction crew too his right biulding a home.. and then they came to a stop sign.. -- -- They proceeded about making a left turn, looping around back to the railroad tracks... and then just ahead... the Cornell whipped the car around and backed into the driveway of Soni's new residence... -- -- Soni and the Cornell exited the car and proceeded about unloading all of Soni's belongings and opening the door. The house wasn't bad, it smelled fresh... It was probably only a year old.. It wasn't very large but Soni had no use for anything more than 2 bedrooms at the moment -- Cornell - Well soldier... this is it for now... I suggest you have a look around... fit in... heck even enjoy this place for a bit because you're ganna be here for awhile... I'll be back within two weeks with new orders for you... You have a vehicle aswell registered into your name and it is liscensed and fully fueled... It is parked in the garage... Soni - Very well, and thanks Cornell.. Especially for the car, I was beggining to wonder how I was going to get out of this place... Cornell - You're about 15 - 20 miles from Downtown, so plan your trips accordingly... The East/West connector is roughly 5 - 7 miles north of us, entry point at Exit 13 --He hands a Map to Soni-- Becarefull and stay sharp... things arn't easy here... I'll fax you a list of employment opportunities for you to choose from... Have a good one mate! --Reenters his car and prepares to drive off... Soni - You too... --Proceeds about walking inside his new home-- ________________________________________To be continued Overview of Soni's subdivison... On a side note, this trip took me FOREVER even using full throtlle although I was stopping for all the lights... I hope Soni doesn't mind living in the boonies for awhile... Until Update 4... Good luck and have fun SimTropolitans!... -

Sim_Air - City pictures are on there way on both Story and Simtropolis Mode... I just wanted to get a feel for things before we jumped into the eye candy... ObladiOblada - Thank you! homeandaway - I based the agriculture system much like the fields you would find in Indiana / lace w:st="on">Southern Illinoiselace>, and The Great Plains...You have been added to the score system and will begin with a score of 30... iamihop11 - The lace w:st="on">lacename w:st="on">Oconeelacename> lacetype w:st="on">Riverlacetype>lace> passes through 4 Parcels, Parcel 17,19, 20 and 21... I need to know which Parcel you're interested in purchasing property... the further away from the city, the less points it will cost... and I'll also need to know if you plan on providing your own house or let SC4 build it...The East / West connector is based on several freeways in the Georgia - none of them carry an interstate shield... GA 400, Ronald Reagon Pkwy, and GA lace w:st="on">Looplace> 10. yoshikoroyimara - Thanks, and the longer the better as it keeps our readers busy and entertained... You have been added to the score system and will begin with a score of 30... Yoshiisland - Thank you and I hope so too... I haven’t forgotten about your university btw and I intend on holding a meeting in which we can all submit design plans for the university, or at least vote on a particular plan... and then we will vote on where it should be biult... and afterward... construction will initiate... Tommy_Vercetti3 - Thank you and there will be no zots or grid from here on...You have been added to the score system and will begin with a score of 30... Alright lets get started!>> ______________________________ First thing's first - I believe cleaner475 was interested in viewing Parcel 11 so lets get some aerial / grid shots of that up! Parcel 11 Overview Choose a selection from the following Grids, when you reply, PLEASE comply with the following format "Parcel 11 Grid (Letter) / (X-Y) Parcel 11 Grid A Parcel 11 Grid B Parcel 11 Grid C If anyone else is interested in this Parcel, feel free to tell me what grid... just make SURE you refer to WHICH Grid you chose from... Your reply should be in the format "I'm interested in Parcel 11 Grid B / C1" As for you iamihop11 - refer to the Region pictures shown in Update 2 to choose which Parcel along the Oconee you're interested in and I'll get pictures up immediately... Now - on with the show... UPDATE 3! - Story Mode ____________________________________________ Not long after Soni departed from the Taxi, he was greeted by a taller mature figure. His face was wrinkled yet his age looked to be in his late 40's - he had a pipe in his mouth and Navy hat that was turned backwards revealing its American flag above his forehead. White long beard and white mustache as well as eyebrows. he stood with a stance of authority confirming Soni's approach... Soni: Cornell ! --Soni Salutes-- Cornell: Please, none of that flattery, we're not on American soil - yet... Soni: Why was I called to this island, and better question... how was this place kept such a secret? It's a relatively decent sized town... Cornell: I'll answer all of your questions but I'm short on time... I'm due in lace w:st="on">lacename w:st="on">Northlacename> lacetype w:st="on">Harborlacetype>lace> in an hour - lets get you to your residence... Soni: --Nods in agreement while walking towards the Cornell's car-- Cornell: The Taxi took the expressway didn't he? Soni: Yes.. This place was a lot more developed than I imagined... Cornell: Developed it has been for some time now - However, friendly is a different story... -- opening the door to his car-- --Soni enters the car as well - within moments their seatbelts are loaded and the 198,000 mile motor is cranked – --They pulled out of the drive of the apartment complex - and onto the street in which Soni left - performing a left turn at the next light – Soni - What exactly is this place and why was it kept so quiet until we were needed? and why are we needed? Cornell - The land you see before you as you already know is by the code name "BlueHope" - it is a government funded facility to maintain a stronghold against the middle east and the resources within this island. Soni - Government funded, With all due respect sir... you don't even have a military station or a decent vehicle... -- They proceeded to the next light in which Soni took the presence of fast food restaurants, stores, and fuel stations cattycornered to the intersection... This was Hwy 2 in which they proceeded upon making a right turn.. –>> Cornell - Which brings you back to why this project was kept such a secret. It is a low budget funded mission to protect the city and it's inhabitants under Martial Law... The higher the budget, the more the public wonders what's happening to their tax dollars.. The objective is to turn "Blue Hope" into a 51st state within this decade with minimum public opposition as we severely need this territory - and the best way to eliminate public opposition is to eliminate the public altogether. Soni - If I understand correctly, this island has the resources to propel our country for quite a lengthy time period - why would the American public oppose of it? -- The Cornell sighed -- Cornell - No... Not the American Public, but the residents of lace w:st="on">Newarklace> and Eaton... The residents of the island we're trying to purchase... --They proceeded Eastward down Hwy 2 crossing under a set of High Tension Power lines— Soni - I'm confused... Cornell - Newark and Eaton is built upon a populous of refugee's and convicts and a great sum of them are Anti-American - The political crisis became so deadly that they threatened to burn the entire city of Newark to ashes - This cause is the reason we "peacefully" moved the military base into the Northern shores of Newark and away from the populous. For now the deal is set - we stay on our side of the island and leave Newark alone and we will be free to do whatever we want to the lace w:st="on">Middle Eastlace>... However, the political rebellions only turned upon each other and as recons we were forced to silently infiltrate the city with the intention of restoring peace. The only problem is, no one can know we're U.S. military - yet or surely our chances of purchasing lace w:st="on">Newarklace> will be shot down... Soni - So that’s why I'm here huh? to silently infiltrate lace w:st="on">Newarklace>? Cornell - Yes - you will have the appearance and attitude of a Blue Collar Working civilian and we will refer you to the employments of our choosing until further orders are instructed. You will also keep a sharp eye for a certain few refugee's but first we need to get you settled in. -- They proceeded down Hwy 2 - entering an Industrial / Commercial sector based off the railroad –>> Soni - I still don't quite understand however... If the political debates are only amongst themselves, and we only want their resources, why do we need to get involved? And what was this about American Tax Money that was a bad thing for the American public if they're getting resources? Cornell - The lace w:st="on">lacetype w:st="on">islandlacetype> of lacename w:st="on">Newarklacename>lace> has no established government and thus is a free power which is dictated by the economy of the workforce... It's not that easy you see, the Industries based on this island are American based and the populous here is only accepting it for the time being because it is the only source of Income for the moment. These Industries have rights to the resources, if they are destroyed so will be any chance of attaining these resources... Thus if the populous destroys themselves, the economy on this island will crash, and soon after it, so will ours.. Soni - and about the Tax Dollars? --They soon passed Hwy 202 and the combined interchange with the East/West Connector—>> Cornell - American Tax Dollars - Everyone in the world knows on what and how we spend our money. If funds become to dramatic then China and the lace w:st="on">Middle Eastlace> will quickly find out. If they find out this island has resources of this quantity... they will un doubtfully strike to take possession of it... Soni - That’s absurd! Taking over our land just because we have something they don't! Cornell - --Just begins chuckling-- Funny, is it really so different from what we did to lace w:st="on">the middle east?lace> Soni - I suppose not... Cornell - Besides this isn't exactly our land - yet... We have to wait until we're ready to purchase and we can only do that when we begin to see reasonable peace on this island and a steady resource quota. Soni - So thats why I've never heard of this place until almost my departure date huh? Classified to keep the public and our enemies from knowing what we're doing here? -- Soon they arrived at an Railroad overpass and proceeded about crossing it... -- Cornell - The only way two can keep a secret is if one of them is dead... Soni - Rest assure Cornell, that won't be a problem with me. -- As they proceeded about crossing the bridge, Soni looked to his right to see an empty field of railroad tracks jetisoning into the Seaports which were banked upon the harbor. Soon the crossed a street which led down into the concrete mixmaster of the seaport..-- -- Soon Soni saw biuldings raising into the sky, he knew what this meant....-- Soni - Are we in downtown? Cornell - Yes on the outskirts of it... Soni - Where are we going anyay? --Soni's head kept looking left and right instinctively to capture the new sights, it wasn't very foreign to him at all-- Cornell: To take you to your new station - You'e going to be in East Milidgeville, don't worry we sitll have plenty a drive ahead of us. --Soni continued to look around as the Cornel drove...-- Soni - So who owns the downtown Market? Cornell - The downtown Market is owned primarily by banks and businesses who control the Industries north of us. -- They arrived at another traffic light with the sign marked as Hwy-35... The Cornell made a right turn and proceeded southbound through the vast cluster of biuldings which made downtown.-- -- Soon they arrived at another instersection, labled as Hwy 4, and they made a left and proceeded eastward...-- . -- Afterward, it wasn't long before they encountered their last insersection, just after, the ground was covered in palm trees. -- -- The road raised into the air, letting way for a bridge over the Oconee River into Eaton -- -- Proceeding over the river, and into Eaton -- -- Ariving in the middle class town of Eaton -- -- Soon the road narrowed -- ________________________To Be Continued I really hate leading you guys on - Story Mode however will be completed on the next update as I'm fresh out of energy tonight... Also I will include SimTropolis Mode as well on the next update... Thanks and have a good day -

cleaner475 - Yes - It would be posted on the very next update - are you interested in seeing Parcel 11? If you are, should get it while it's still cheap as South Island is developing rapidly and the land values on the islands are generally almost always higher than inland... Yoshiisland - Thank you, I based the RHW system much on the way the Freeways in Georgia are biult.. Alot like GA400 (which isn't interstate but has alot of interesting interchanges) and I-85 ( which has alot of Islands in the center of the highway when you get out into the rural areas...Currently the Commerce sector of Downtown is very small, most of the biuldings you see are actually residential... I'll show when we cover that update... Sim_Air - Thanks, you'll see more don't worry... ODST_27 - Thank you... ___________________________________________________ UPDATE 2.5 - Mini Update!!! I completely forgot to include the points system in the second update to let you know how many points everyone had... Also from this Post onward, I will begin adding points per post. Name Points 2nerdy4u 50 Almighty Nienaber 50 Amerikaner 50 autoVino 50 Benedict 50 cleaner475 50 Cjah 50 Cowboy[Texas] 50 Critterman 50 Dr Lezard 50 granto93 50 iamihop11 30 jacqulina 50 jimmyCo 50 Krio 50 manman99 50 mencc1701 50 MsD 50 ObladiOblada 50 ODST_27 50 PennDOTguy 50 PhatHead 50 rct3twins 30 SaltandVinegar 50 Sim_Air 30 Simfan34 50 sobol 50 Yoshiisland 50 Also the points will be included on their own seperate updates to prevent confusion down the road... As I stated in the post prior to this city journal... Everyone who replied to the post in "I'm thinking of starting an Interactive City Journal" begins with 50 Points... everyone who replied with this post begins with a standard of 30... ..enjoy... -
First I'll state that I've watched the CJ section for quite some time and I'm quite impressed with the work posted there. However I would like to take things a step further and make an interactive CJ... I've a few ideas but first I'd like to know your oppinions on them... I'm going to list them in options ranging from mild to extreme... ...mild being the most simplistic and light - easy version... and extreme being the most complex yet most interesting and rewarding version... #1 Mild - I biuld a region and start the town based on a timeline (this isn't going to just grow into a metropolis within a week, rome wasn't biult in a day - I want to start very small and work up.) Visitors of the C.J. can view and make suggestions toward development and improvements as if they were citizens of said city and will council a vote towards where each landmark will be placed based on its attribute factor (I.E. you would vote a Coal Powerplant to be biult as far away from your home as possible, but you would want a library close to your chamber of commerce as it will be easily accessable by everyone...) #2 Moderate - I biuld a region like stated above and this time I perform a random drawing of 5 members who read the CJ... They 5 winners will be added to the Region as SIMS at the available locations of their choosing (You're not going to come in and win the lottery - boom move to the rich side of town... work your way up...)...They can choose between a poor and middle class income level and decide where they wish to work within the region ... Their statuses will be updated within a weekly basis and reported to the member, in which the member can choose whether he'd like to write a tale / make a comic about their daily life in the region or if he'd rather me post their happenings... #3 Extreme - 5 Members will be voted upon and agreed to download and share one region, each member will share a parcel of land (city tile) and can purchase more land (city tiles) as suburban sprawl occurs and based on a rating system I'll soon figure out. We will then on a weekly basis combine our cities into the most current region and post our C.J. ...Also each member will need to have atleast one Sim who lives in their quarter of town who will be the one making the daily lifestyle and commuting in the city / region and will be the persona under whom which tales the tell in the CJ... ...Comics prefered but not mandatory... this way it will keep a constant flowing story as the city expands aswell... ..The only rule under extreme is all transportation networks and utilities must be agreed upon before crossing borders into the next city... We will decide upon the most efficient way of allowing neighbor connections... Give me your oppinions and feed back...

I'm thinking of creating an interactive CJ...

cleaner475 - Thanks, and they're coming up... ObladiOblada - Thanks - Yes it is difficult and I'm always in search of help as this happened to be a much more massive project than I thought, but I should be okay for now.... iamihop11 - Thank you! I used erroded hills for the mountain affects and used a slope / tunnel mod for the roads to have more realistic inclines / cliffs / ledges... and plopped trees around the developed areas on the mountains... For the farms, in the great plains, farms are large and take tremendous amounts of acre's. I used winding roads and railroads to complete the equation. I am keeping track of everyone's score on a spreadsheet generated by Microsoft Excel. You will be seeing everyones beggining score in this upcoming update. Yoshiisland - Thank you, It took awhile to get started because of computer issues that I now have halfway resolved. As for taking snapshots in UDI mode, I minimized the keyboard help bar and pressed "Print Screen" on the top right corner of the keyboard, SC4K doesn't allow you to take snapshots (even with Ctrl, Shift, S) while in UDI mode... When you press print screen on any windows system, it copies the entire image you see on your monitor, then go to an imaging program and press "Ctrl V" or Paste... and that image will appear. 2nerdy4u - Don't give up hope in me.... I stated before that this project would take on the course of months to years, it's not going to be a plop up 1,000,000 population city in 2 weeks. Be patient, everything follows there after and the results I can assure you will be worth it... Thanks for the tips however, I'll be using those on the next update. rct3twins - Thanks... Sim_Air - Trust me, I'll need it. Critterman - I try my best to keep it looking as realistic as possible... jacqulina - Thanks... Story Mode will of course evolve also as the city evolves and even our decisions will have impact on story mode... Alright, Lets get down to Business ____________________________ Update 2 ! As you have all been wondering for your development into this region, there will be three ways to accomplish this... #1 - In either Story View or Simtropolis View you see a business, home, or industry, or even complex, subdivision... anything it doesn't matter - you desire to purchase, copy the picture, circle the area you want to purchase with an imaging program, email it back to me at camaro943400@yahoo.com and make SURE your subject has Simtropolis somewere in it or it might risk deletion. I will tell you the points cost and verify if you desire to proceed with the deal aswell as showing the area you may purchase in the next update #2 - I host a Sale and advertise an area or business for sell... Or I request a business or utility to be built and hosted by an ST Member... For instance I could definately use some more efficient and realistic Coal Power plants... It should only take one plant to power as much as 200,000 people...However it must definately remain realistic in the aspect that it pollutes. #3 - You select a Parcel of land from the Region in which I'm about to post - When that is done, on the next update I will zoom into that Parcel and insert a grid system in which you can select lets say (A:5) ... When you do this we will set up a file transfer method and I will give you as much as three pictures as to what the A:5 vincinity looks like and you can choose to either biuld on that parcel or purchase from that parcel. As for the Grid - I wasn't able to get an entire region shot simply for the fact, I don't know how (Ctrl Shft S doesn't work in the region view), so I divided the region into 4 images featuring 4 areas below... Each Parcel represents a city and like I stated before, when you select a Parcel, the next update will include a view of the city with a grid system... From there you select a grid and I will file transfer the pictures personally to you. Here is the Grid System Simtropolis View Welcome to the Newark Region where the name of the island is also the name of it's largest city, and capital. Newark was founded in 1965 as a military garrison to invade Iraq and was strictly going to remain this way until the discovery of abundant natural resources reached mainland. When the circulation of funds between industries convinced the government to allow them entry into this Fort, Newarks destiny was forever changed. Industries moved in first, and when workers are applied to an issolated area in the world, they must live nearby, thus houses were biult. Of course when commerce see's the opportunity to please consumers, they biuld their shops. Soon Newark became very state-like and a transportation system was biult to accomidate it. Their largest accomplishment was founded in 1999 by the completetion of the East / West connector which has 13 Exits and is a partial Limited Access Highway. Civilian life began to prosper in this fertile island, resources were mined, mostly coal, and produced into manufactured goods, or simply shipped to shore. By the year 2005 The Naval fleet had to move locations to avoid conflict with civilian beings as the city sprawled. Now on the North side of the island. The Navy base was converted into an industrial freight seaport to ship and recieve goods from mainland. Today it exists as the Newark Seaport which is just west of the mouth for the Oconee River... Servicing the Seaport are Rails that sprawl out from the city center to collect and distribute industrial goods. The rail system was implimented to alleviate truck traffic from the city center and to-date does a fairly decent job. Politically, Newark is prone to many Social Unrests as it's turning into a dawn of a new era. The U.S.A wants to purchase this territory and utilize it for it's Natural Resources however natives desire rights to the resources to distribute as they please. Many areas of the Newark region are uneducated and low income. The Blue Colar work force is dominant here as most white colar laborer's don't see any reason to become isolated on an Island filled with the soot of coal, surrounded by an uneducated populouse, and have to pay extra for health care due to lack of aquadate health facilities. Most health goods must be shipped in from mainland. Newarks police force is laughable aswell with the only police station being in downtown. Despite it's con's, Although Newark is far from a Tourist attraction, it maintains a beautiful downtown and still has fairly nice areas and a decent middle class, mostly residing in Eaton which is east of the Oconee River. However, since man have biult here, they have also biult their flaws into here and if left untouched, they can grow to consume the creation they dearly pride in. It is up to us to watch over and correct the flaws of Newark as they present themselves. If this is not done, Newark will face a certain destruction of Political Unrest and it too, will subcumb to war. Before we jump in and try to satisfy the demands of the growing populouse... Lets have a look around and see what we're dealing with... There's no better way to look around than using the transportation system, so we'll have a look at that first... First being, the road map As you can see, Newarks Road System is loosely based off the U.S. Road System. Routes are numbered. Even Numbers go east / west and Odd Numbers go north / south. The farther North you are, the higher the East/West numbers are...and the Farther West you go, the Higher the North/South numbers are (unlike the U.S. which is the farther EAST you go.) Our first route we'll cover is the East / West Connector, which as stated before as a partial limited access highway which connects the farms on both the East and West to the Industries, Commerce, and Residents in the center of the city. The East West Connector was completed in 2020 and serves 4 major Parcels of Newark. It begins in the western rural area with an At-Grade intersection with Highway 2 and Terminates into a Road on the eastern rural area. It was constructed in effort to - #1 Give commuters on Hwy 2 an alternate route of travel and high speed access. #2 Connect commuters to quicker access to the rural farms #3 Give Industry access to a limited access highway to transport goods to the seaport or distribute them to local commerce. #4 Give the Airport Access to a quicker route into the city. To this date it serves its purpose quite well.. Lets have a closer look at it... The beggining of the East / West Connector on the western end. Intersecting Hwy 2 with an At-Grade intersection. The first Exit taking you to the southern coast of Newark which is mostly scattered farms It continues South/East passing through the rural areas of Newark Has interstate-like islands providing forestry in the center of the highway A bit further from Hwy 2 and the Coast, Exit 2 provides access to more rural indusries and farms. This one is clickable... After Exit 3 (which is for the Airport and we've already seen it in Soni's story) It passes through a complex interchange with Hwy 37 for a mall and several residents. Exit 6 is the Second At-Grade-Intersection, with plans to turn this into a full interchange as being closer to the downtown area, traffic has escalated. Continues through the western suburban populated area... As we can tell this is a fairly new portion, notice how it seems to cut through a residential area? These used to be houses. First half of Exit 7 where the East/West connector remeets Hwy 2... and also the old city bypass, Hwy 202 which is mostly obsolete now due to urban sprawl and the East West connector. Second half of the Exit 7 Interchange, Notice the Westbound Lanes has an exit ramp seperately for Hwy 202? Hwy 202 terminates here at the interchange with Hwy 2 and The East / West Connector. Overview Ariel Shot of Exit 7 Shortly After Exit 7, The East/West connector passes over a freight railline, developes a center barrier and expands into a 3 lane freeway while passing under an overpass and proceeding Eastward to Downtown and the Oconee River... Just North West of dwntown, passing through a residential and Commerical district. Barriers are necessary since everything is so much more dense... The Highway also now possesses center mounted street lamps due to increased traffic during evening commutes. Exit 8 marks the Interchange between The E/W Connector and Hwy 35 (Not 36) Which takes you into the heart of Downtown, The Northern Coal Mines on the Mountains, and South Island. Shortly after an Overpass for the railroad tracks, Exit 9 gives the E/W Connector it's third and final Access to Hwy 2, Which takes you back into Downtown and NorthEast just south of the mountain range running parralell with the Oconee River. Just east of Exit 9, The E/W Connector proceeds over a bridge over the Oconee River The E/W Connector descends from the bridge, having an overpass with Riverside Dr in Eaton, proceeding East into the middle class area and interchanging with Exit 10 which provides access to homes, riverside drive, and south of there - Hwy 4 which will take you into the denser area of Eaton. Proceeding South/East into the Residential Area, preparing for Exit 11 - This is also a new portion for the E/W connector which required the destruction and relocation of many subdivisions and homes. It was necessary however as before this Highway existed, commuters would have to proceed South to Highway 45 to cross the Oconee River and would only find themselves in a cluster jam of traffic of the center of Downtown Newark. Exit 11 provides access to the Eastern communities in Eaton - From here the E/W Conn proceeds into the rural areas with no nore interchanges into Eaton... The exit ramps have upgraded traffic lights... Both of these are clickable and show The E/W Connector proceeding East and out of Eaton and into the Milidgeville Area... This one is also clickable, Showing the E/W Connector entering Millidgeville.. Exit 12 A Proceeds Southward into Hwy 4 and the railroad industrial areas.. and 12 B Proceeds North East into the farms that encompass wide acre's of Millidgeville... E/W Connector proceeds to develop islands in the center of the highway... Another At-Grade intersection - making for the third - Also a Farming Plant located right off the expressway for easy access... traffic out here was light enough to permit it. The E/W Connector proceeds East through the farms, occasionally making Islands in the median... In UDI mode... this is a VERY long drive... The final Interchange for the E/W Connector just before proceeding east into the forest to become an At-Grade road... This Road provides access to the Eastern Farms and Rural Industrial Areas to the South. ________________________________________________________________ For now, that is all - The next update will be in Story Mode... Remember this is your CJ as much as it is mine so if you have any suggestions, recomendations from those above pictures or just in general... feel free to post them. Have a great day! -

Cleaner475: Thanks! Critterman: I promise to keep it interesting 2nerdy4u: The first post will be in by no later than tomorrow - sorry for the delays, I had to transport the region into this computer an in process, one of the cities corrupted so I had to rebiuld it... Ironically this was the city that the CJ begins in... SaltandVinegar: Late or not, your input is greatly appreciated and you'll be awarded points... Yoshiisland: I'll see if I can surprise you Benedict: I will maintain everyones Points and everyone who posts from the beggining of the actual CJ via a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet - From there I will use the program itself to add points as necessary... I'll determine the areas I'm weak at after the CJ begins and apply for help when necessary... -
I'm thinking of creating an interactive CJ...
Need4Camaro replied to Need4Camaro's topic in SC4 City Journals
I've been stalling for time awaiting a PC that can handle SC4 and a steady internet connection to post from... I've attained that now and the CJ will begin in a new thread called "Blue Hope" That is the cities military given code name. I am going to try to set it up today and have it running tonight but if plans fall through I promise it will be no later than Tuesday... I have devised a Points system and for those desiring to participate I should ask you to copy and paste this into a Text Document for easy keeping and remembering that way you won't have to continuesly locate this thread... The points system will work like this - To Attain Points - Replying to the CJ - 1 Point per post - spamming will not count however... Owning Residential Property - 1 Point per tile will be awarded per Simulated Month... ... Your home will also count so your participation is encouraged... Owning Industrial Property - 1 Point per tile + 0.2 Points per worker will be awarded per simulated month... Owning Comercial Property - 2 Points per tile + 0.5 Points per worker will be awarded per simulated month... Owning a Utility (Power Plant, Water Pumps, Trash, ect...) - 25 Points per month Owning recreation - 2 Points per tile... Contributing a Bat - Bats will depend on their importance, they must also be fairly realistic (coal plants MUST pollute, no single power plant to power an entire region, must have a realistic price, (not to high but not to low either...) and must have an advantage over SC4 plants... (for instance a coal plant is probably easily enough to power a large city tile...) ... Also extra points will be awarded should you contribute a Bat I - or anyone requests... But any Bat, even your own home, will contribute points Transportation Networks Road in your name - 0.1 Points per tile and length of road will be awarded monthly. Avenue in your name - 0.2 Points per tile and length of avenue will be awarded monthly. Highway in your name - 0.5 Points per tile and length of Highway will be awarded monthly. Interstate in your name - 1 Point per tile and length of Interstate will be awarded monthly. If the transportation network is tolled and they're also owned by you, then you will also be awarded 0.2 points for every 50 cars that travel on it per month... Rail - 0.1 Points Times number of tracks per tile ('s) and length of line will be awarded monthly. El / Subway / GLR - 0.2 Points Times number of tracks per tile ('s) and length of line will be awarded monthly. Monorail - 0.5 Points Times number of tracks per tile ('s) and length of line will be awarded monthly... Rail Stop - 0.2 Points per tile Times number of tracks serviced + 0.2 Points per 50 passengers will be awarded monthly... El / Subway / GLR Station / Mono Rail Station - 0.5 Points per tile Times number of tracks serviced + 0.5 Points per 50 passengers will be awarded monthly... Bus Stop - 1 Point per tile times 1 Point per 30 passengers will be awarded monthly... Ferry Stops - 1 point per tile + 1 point per 50 passengers will be awarded monthly... Basically it works like this, If you purchase a rail line, or a segment of a line and that line has 4 tracks for 30 tiles lets say, it will equate to 12 monthly points and here's why - One Tile of railroad = 2 tracks thus 0.1 * 4 = 0.4 Points for 2 Tiles of Track 0.4 Points is now multiplied by the length or distance of the line... 30 tiles... which equals 12 Points... You will only be awarded for providing the line, NOT the stations, the stations will have to be purchased seperately to attain points from them... You will still attain points for rail lines that pass THROUGH stations however... and station owners will also recieve points for the actual rail that passes through it aswell... Freight and Business Freight Station - 0.2 Points per tile Times Number of tracks serviced + 0.1 Point per 10 freight trains will be awarded monthly... Seaports - 0.2 Points per tile / harbor area Times Number of tracks serviced + 0.1 Point per 10 freight trains and 0.1 Point per 20 freight trucks... Airports - 0.2 Points per tile / property area + 0.3 Points per tile for Hotels + 0.3 Points per 50 Passengers... ___________________________________________________________________ Using Points This is how you use points, There is NO standard purchasing per tile cost for zones as they can be diffenteriate greatly... For instance it will be alot cheaper to biuld a residential apartment complex near an industrial area than it would be to do so on beach front property... Also convinience to commercial property will also drive prices upward aswell... You will find out the prices when you either... REQUEST: You see a spec of empty land you desire to start a subdivision or an office park and contact me, I will analyze the land and give you a points price ... or you see a business you'd like to take over and I'll give you their net worth, which will be based on their customers and employees in and give you a points price... You can also request to purchase and name a road for it's full or a partial length... Just know that a state road or Interstate will not lose it's number designation.. or you can wait for a SALE: I or other members in this CJ can sell property to trade points within the system, just notify me of the purchases and your points will be updated... Pictures will show the lot or area or transportation network for sale... I personally will hold a sale atleast once a week in the CJ to promote business and buyers... you will also get better deals should you wait for a sale instead of buying it outright. Streets will cost 0.1 + Wealth Value Per Tile Roads will cost 0.2 + Wealth Value Per Tile Avenues will cost 0.5 + Wealth Value Per Tile Rural Highways will cost 0.5 Points Per Tile + 0.2 Points per Exit / Entrance Ramp... Highways (Ground or Elevated) will cost 0.7 Points per Tile + 0.2 Points per Exit / Entrance Ramp... Interstates will cost 1 Point per tile + 0.3 Points per Exit / Entrance Ramp... Rail lines will cost 0.2 Points per tile + 0.2 Points per Freight Train and 0.2 Points per 50 Passengers. El / Subway / GLR lines will cost 0.5 Points per tile + 0.4 points Per 50 Passengers. MonoRail lines will cost 1 Point per tile + 0.5 Points per 50 Passengers. Tolls cost 5 Points per tile... Bus Stops cost 0.5 Points per tile + 0.2 Points per 50 Passengers. Train Stops will cost 0.8 Points per tile + 0.3 Points per 50 Passengers times number of tracks serviced. EL / Subway / GLR Stops will cost 1 Point per tile + 0.5 Points per 50 Passengers times number of tracks serviced. MonoRails will cost 1.5 Points per tile + 1 Point per 50 Passengers times number of tracks serviced. Freight Stations will cost 1 Point per tile + 0.5 Points per 30 Freight Trains times number of tracks serviced. Ferries will cost 2 Points per tile + 2 Points per 50 Passengers. Airport and Seaports will work slightly differently as with these, you will also have to purchase land rights before you can biuld or use the territory... then you will also have to pay for a structure aswell... Seaports will Cost 0.5 Points per tile for land rights + 1 Point per structure + 50 points per pier. Airports will cost 1.5 Points per tile for land rights + 2 Points per structure + 50 points per runway. Recreation Parks will cost 0.5 Points per tile. Marina's will cost 5 Points per tile. Beaches will cost 7 Points per tile. Sports (except Tennis / Skate Park) will cost 10 Points per tile. With that covered, I'll give you alittle overview - Per Month means per CJ month, and the CJ will be run on the slowest setting so a month shouldn't pass very fast... When you purchase something, I will deduct points per REAL LIFE month... You can also set up purchase plans in which you can finance me a downpayment and I will hold whatever you desire to purchase without selling it for a real life 2 week period... This is alot to keep up with, especially for someone as busy as myself, so I am definately open to those who desire to help me run such a large project and will give addtional points... EVERYONE who contributed to this thread will begin with 50 Points! Remaining visitors who view the next thread will begin with 10 Points... I will award points on the beggining of every CJ Month, also if you purchase something on the 15th of a CJ month or later, to keep things from being confusing, I will award your points to you on the FOLLOWING CJ month... When you own something, it is yours to request to do whatever you wish to it... You can rename it, request a project, ect... The only thing you can't do is take away it's Interstate or Route number as the state and federal government supercede you... You CAN also combine points and perform a group purchase meaning it's apart of a groups property rather than an individual... In areas of heavy traffic you can benefit a bus system to earn points or request a tollway and even design its route and I will biuld it should you have the points for it. Also for subdivisions, Industrial and Business parks, you must send me a template of how you desire it to look before construction begins... ...Of COURSE although the CJ is interactive, interactivity is only optional and the city will still continue to grow with a storyline behind it as time moves forward with or without your contributions... I just thought I'd share this information to those interested... Should you have any questions or concerns, please by all means post away... That is all... and have a great day... -
I just got a new laptop and I have installed SC4K Whenever I start SC4K It will load up past the bridge screen and as soon as it goes full screen, I get a huge blue screen error and the whole computer shutsdown and restarts... I have all the latest updates and I don't know what the problem could be... Here's my PC specs. Acer Aspire 5570-2977 Intel Pentium Dual Core 80 GB Harddrive 1 Gig Ram and Windows Vista SC4K was running just fine on my PC which was Windows XP and only 512 MB's of ram but why not this? I've even changed the compatability mode on the program disabled desktop composition and ran the program as an administrator... what could be the problem here? Yes, a points system in which will determine the purchasing of land, opportunities, subdivisions, offices, any kind of biuldings, infastructure or streets mainly depending on the land value and how much you're willing to purchase... I.E. An Ocean front Condo Complex with recreational and beachfront property is obviously going to cost more points than a trailer park off the side of the interstate... but to keep things motivated and fun I'll keep things as fair as possible... ...Also in the space allocated for purchase, I will allow you to submit your design plans for subdivisions ranging from how you want the streets to network, to exterior mass transit (bus stop, train stop if a rail is near - that will cost points though) and you can even design the wealth factor... - adding parks / tree's ect... -
I want to know, how do I develope the models for an Highway Exit ramp turning into a oneway road? I don't want a ramp that merges into a parralell road, just a ramp that turns into a one way road much like the Elevated Highway ramp does

Need4Camaro replied to Need4Camaro's topic in SC4 City Journals
Well the CJ will start with a population of around 100,000 people basically because it was profound with an already established economy. I'm also going to initiate a points system in which will allow posters to become investors in this CJ.. to beable to purchases from Estates, to Subdivisions and have them named after them, to beable to request the foundation of subdivisions, plants, anything you name to be biult in their honor when opportunities present themselves in the CJ and they will be displayed in the city and regional interface for everyone to view... Basically with points you can Purchase / Biuld Subdivisions Purchase / Biuld and Invest in Industries or Industrial Complexes Purchase / Biuld and Invest in Commercial Properties / Complexes Rename a Street / Road / Avenue or Highway to your own liking Purchase / Biuld a Toll Road or Transit system to invest in more points (X amount of Dollars will grant you X amount of Points) You earn points by Simply replying to the CJ Owning a home and working in the CJ (Whether it's a default Maxis home / Job or you BAT) Fullfilling Bat Request's for not only myself but anyone who posts a Bat requests in this CJ (I've definately got a few in mind - Ground Highway Ramp that transforms into a One way road, WITHOUT the merge into a Parrallel One way Road...) For now thats all I can think of but I'm open to new ideas... -

Originally posted by: Yoshiisland Just one question; what exactly are your expectations? It sound very promising! I absolutely love story CJs!!quote> That depends on what you mean by expectations I will say this - The region is going to start off small and eventually expand to reveal more land - I'm open for CJ combining so anyone who is currently running a CJ can merge their region into mine should a feasble way be accomible... Should that occur then of course the CJ will have dual artists... My expectations I have no population cap limit nor any desired population in mind however I will say - this isn't a fly-by-night city... ...If you're expecting to see a sprawling metropolis in 5 days then you're in for a huge disapointment, this city is more geared towards progression towards perfection on a slow and steady basis... although I will promise that in time it will become a large metropolis... Anyone who desires to "live and participate" in this city and who can BAT can of course create their own homes and ask me to download / add them into city and they will even be included in the story line... Currently I cannot BAT for myself however I intend on changing that as time progresses... The same goes for Amusement Parks, Malls, Rewards, Ect... if anyone should have anything they desire to see in my city with their credits - I will be more than happy to add it... All road and transit work will be performed in live time (no pausing simulator) so alternate routes and sectional blocks will be performed instead of waking up on Monday morning to a traffic jam on a two lane road and returning from work that same afternoon to find an all new complete highway has replaced that road... (and your house)... As far as the city economy goes - I will use Oil Drilling and Coal Plant bats should they be available - if not then I'll find alternatives or be forced into creating my own... CJ - Timelimit - The CJ will begin in 2030 as I've stated 3 times before and afterward it is started it will run primarily on the slowest speed setting or in other special occasions, the medium setting ... each update will promote the current date in that city - once again I'm not looking to splurge an entire metropolis in the matter of a month but rather to share a story and a colluage of memories as the city slowly progresses step by step - in which before and after photo's will be shared after revitalization programs, new developments, upgraded transit networks, and even after disasters... ...And no, I'm not afraid to burn the entire city to the ground regardless of how beautiful it is... ALTHOUGH Thats not my intent - it's just to add realism... Basically I'm saying, don't be surprised if this CJ takes until 2009 before it reaches its climax because it will be a steady but promising project in which I invite anyone in Sim Tropolis to participate in... -

Alright so far I have come up with a suitable story line - and basic parameters... The town is on an large imaginary island in the Atlantic about 1,000 miles east of the Gulf - Coal has already been discovered in the mountain ranges and is currently being used to propel the economy... Rail lines are the primary freight transit to the city's Seaport... The CJ will begin in the year Sim Year 2030. The CJ will feature a humble Farm / Industrial Town - destined to grow into a Metropolis once oil is discovered... The CJ story line will be based on the United Nations on the brinc of collapsation due to a Peak Oil Crisis - the discovery of enough oil in this region to propel the Nations for perhaps another 30 years however leads the U.S. into purchasing this territory, americanizing it, developing forts and even an Interstate system to protect this region and economy... There WILL be depressions! There WILL be disasters! There WILL be war! Rural Highways will be included in suburban areas or rural areas along with realistic interchange should it be a designated Interstate... Intercity Highways will remain Maxis Default with Maxis Interchanges (unless we see otherwise fit) to conserve space... Currently the city is sitting at around 80,000 residents... I'm still waiting on a new PC before I begin as my current one isn't going to beable to hold up to the expectations I have of this CJ... ... Some time soon it will start - any questions? -

Need4Camaro replied to Need4Camaro's topic in SC4 City Journals
Mild wins so far... Currently the city is being built into the year 2030 in which point the CJ will begin with a storyline - it will be told from the point of view of a citizen who recently moved in... Thats all I'm going to tell for now as I have to go... I wanted to post to explain that this C.J. has not been forgotten - however I'm just having troubles with RL...
