@michae95l It's a bus map. I haven't added the legend yet, so I understand the confusion about what everything means. I'm on the fence about whether to include the side streets or not. I've seen some bus maps that include them and some that don't. I'll probably do both anyways though.

I posted a map that I was working on a few months ago. I'm still working on it and would like to share my progress/get feedback. Every time I visit this thread, the maps get better. I love it.

Great designs here guys. I love the diversity of styles (urban, commuter, community college, sports-centric etc.). Here's Hippopolis University, based on the layout of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!)- 194 Replies

Downtown suburban train terminal in my one and only region

I feel like every time I check this thread, the maps get better (I see you Michae95l lol). Here's a revamped, combined transit map based on some new bus analyses I did recently: I'm also midway through a more comprehensive bus map. There's still a lot of work to do though:

This map is awesome. My jaw literally dropped when I saw this. You have to let us in on your secrets! Michae95l: Every map of yours gets better and better. I'm excited to see what comes next!
-
Looking good. What do you think of mine? I love it! I like how you use the concentric rings instead of the hub-spoke model. Very cool

Just a minimalist rendition of a my city's subway map. I finally found the grid!

Thanks for your feedback! It's really appreciated. I don't know if I'll ever get the lines perfectly straight though. The act of drawing is fun enough. Too much attention to detail would stress me out haha. Linoa, you should inbox me those other suggestions just so I know for the future.

Haha aww, nobody likes the fun curves? How do you like your ladies hehe? According to popular demand:

Linoa06: That map is awesome; it reminds me of NYC. michae95l: Interesting map concept. I wish the key discussed the colors, so I could analyze more of it! takemethere and Joe: wow This is one of my favorite threads. I love when it shows life. Here's how my region's commuter rail is shaping up nowadays:

My one and only region, still not finished with the north suburbs yet: The transport map:

Hippopolis (city pop: ~463,000 & reg pop: ~1.7 million). It was designed after Madison, WI, but is starting to remind me of NYC more and more. A case of convergent evolution I suppose. -
Here's a user-friendly transit map for my region, expanding off of an older map I made.

Here's a bus and rapid transit map for my region with routes determined by analyzing route queries throughout the region. It's turning out to help me out a lot with transport problems in the region.
-
I like how you try to keep the rail level Johan. Here's the urban rail hub in my metro, North Station:
-
I can hardly see that! Could you post a higher-resolution image, please? I'd actually like to be able to see your city. Of course! Let me know if you have any difficulties viewing these: Here is the southwest quadrant of midtown with Central Station to the west and the Pantheon to the east. Here is the Pantheon District with the monorail going from Central Station to North Station To the west, we have historic downtown And east of midtown there's the rest of the business district, East Station (next to the freeway), the reservoir to the north and the conservation area to the south.

Here's midtown Hippopolis with the historic downtown to the west.

This is map is awesome. In fact, it has inspired me to make a spin-off of my previous regional rail map. Thank you for the inspiration.

All of these maps look awesome. I love how everyone has their own style. Here's the combined transit map for my region (posted a page ago).
-
And here is the subway, streetcar, and monorail systems that supplement the commuter rail in Greater Hippopolis:
-
Here is the commuter rail system for my metro area of just over 1 million Sims. It is a combination of Paris' RER and the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority's (MBTA or "the T") commuter rail system. The idea was to create a transit-orientated and environmentally-friendly environment in a moderately-sized, American-style metro area (something that barely exists in the U.S). The hubs, Central station and West station, tend to have 80,000 and 20,000 passengers per day, respectively. Queries indicate that East and South station also receive heavy traffic (40,000 and 30,000 respectively).
-
Here's my tram system that operates as a way to get people around within the main city in my region. It only operates intracity, and it was built to ease intracity traffic on the city's subway network. The rails go underground at some points to intersect with subway stations, but the majority of the network is above ground. It has one line with three branches which all converge before the line's terminus. The line was inspired by Boston's Green Line. The terminus was inspired by the tram terminus at Amsterdam Centraal. Here are some pics: The industrial district leading to the shopping district: (or The shopping district (or so I like to imagine; it has the most pedestrian traffic in the city): Tram coming from the financial district which merges with the branches coming from central station and the shopping district. They go underground (as seen at the top of the photo) to stop at a subway station. (the branch going to the central train station is can be seen merging with the branch from the financial district next to the tram; the branch from the shopping district is hidden between the light blue towers in the top right): The tram tunnel that connects the shopping district to the industrial district, bypassing the financial district: The western terminus of all three branches at the city's western train station:
-
So this is my first post in years, but here's a pic of the city along with the transit map. There's no legend; but subways are in bold, the commuter rail is in purple, the monorail is in pink, and the ferry is the blue dotted line. Transfers between the subway and the commuter rail are shown by the rail symbol.

I do every cheat I can in SC4 mainly because I'm an artist not a player. I make cities to look good and realistic and not to function. I'm sure there are many like me. 2. Realistic city scales. The ability to more easily make 2 million - 5 million populations like a real metropolis, and have realistic city-centre/suburb proportions. Getting there in SimCity is ridiculously hard. quote> 1. I would also like to see something like #2. Realistically, how many major cities are 4km by 4km, and are perfect squares? Major cities tend to have massive land areas in irregular shapes. I think this should be taken into consideration. Maybe buying more land, or annexing other parts cities would be cool (or entire ones). On top of that, one could still have suburbs to make the area look even more realistic. 2. I have always wanted to see some sort of a city theme. Something like a university city, where the campus is huge, and is a huge attraction for many people and businesses to move there. Maybe a vacation spot, where a massive amusement park or a resort is in the middle of it. 3. I like the aspect of an economy also. Maybe if your city is doing well you may get a pop-up saying, "ABC Industries wants to move to your city". It would bring many jobs to the city and be one of the landmarks, so to speak. Seaports, railroads, and airports for goods would be cool too. They should have a big impact on how successful your city is. For example, if your city has no outlet route, why would some industry even consider going there? SC4 has my heart as of now, but Cities Unlimited may be able to change that. . .
