New Millington - A Simcity Societies city journal
waway625 replied to needgames's topic in SC4 City Journals
wow! its looking great..normally i have no interest in SCS whatsoever but this CJ is impressive -
REPLIES Jacqulina - thanks jaky (or is that Jacky? ) well it isnt finished yet and i have a few updates lined up before i "unveil" the natural attractions Smarty218 - thanks lol the trees seem a bit too much, ive re-worked them and cut some (near the urban core) i maintained a rainforest though near the watershed in the outskirts of the city Suplado! - Oi idol! salamat pare your work is one of my inspirations (pinoy pride FTW! lol) AROUND PUERTO JOYA: Punta Joya Freeport and Special Economic Zone Once the site of a US Naval Base, the district of Punta Joya is located just east of the district of San Vicente. For years the area was generally underdeveloped where the only major facility was the Naval Station. When the US Bases closed in the Philippines in 1991. The two naval bases that were abandoned (Subic Bay and Punta Joya) were converted to freeports and special economic zones, Punta Joya Naval Station, being a smaller facility, started small with the port converted into a hub for cargo ships in the southern Philippines and a small Logistics center.By 1996, the Economic zone was starting to get filled with locators and plans for expansion and further reclamation were made. In 1998, plans were finalized to further expand the Special Economic Zone to position it as a Hub for Logistics in Southern Philippines and the BIMP-EAGA ( a growth corridor in East ASEAN involving the countries of Brunei,Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines). Among the plans were to transfer the already congested Puerto Joya International Airport to the Ecozone and to further expand the freeport and create an International Container Terminal.Grounbreaking commenced in 1999 and by the year 2000 land reclamation and construction of the needed facilities was in full swing In 2005, the Export Processing zone was completed and investors hoping to take advantage of the EcoZones benefits and incentives started to come. The Airport and the expanded seaport was completed the following year albeit only the seaport opened as the airport was mired with controversies involving the national government and the contractors of the passenger terminal The Puerto Joya International Seaport. when the port was opened in 2006, the old Puerto Joya port (at the Poblacion) was closed and was converted into a mixed use waterfront development) A shot of the Puerto Joya International Container Terminal (PICT),this is where most exports from the entire island, as well as from some provinces in the Visayas (central philippines) are shipped to international markets. The PICT is also the entry port for most imports to the Southern Philippines Passenger ships from Manila and other key cities dock at the Puerto Joya Inter-island ferry ter

not my largest in population since ive had regions with up to 2.5million (RIP Clarkstown) but this is my largest in sprawl current region population (or metro since i consider the whole region a single city in my CJ) is at 1.36million but i project it to reach 1.6 to 1.8million (im limiting the high rise buildings to the CBD so the latter may be hard to achieve) largest population is at the urban core surrounding the CBD though (about a million residents living in 5 large city tiles where 300,000 of which live in the poblacion (downtown) tile) latest region shot (click on the pic for larger image)

REPLIES jacqulina - thanks jaky, ive been reading your CJ to have inspiration for my "nature park" its still a work in progress though but you can see it in the region view Benedict - thanks yeah the farms to the left were less of a headache since i had problems with some rural bats earlier that would just grow so fast the bigger farms get overtaken..so i removed the files when i made the farms to the left and so now building farms is much faster have to thank some rural CJers here for inspiration too Dsrwhat316 - ahh the trees i downloaded lots of them too coz the maxis trees just dont blend well with my terrain texture so i had to download lots of trees, well is fun to plop though nihonkaranws - thanks my friend Schulmanator - wow, a visit from you im honored thanks gabry85 - well its not really big (if we talk real life cities) its only 68x26km (so approximately around 110 large city tiles including the seas) CarmineHilton - thanks you have a very pretty avatar too Shingure -thanks friend bbfan02 - thanks BB, large and fun to do (but very time consuming too )

huge airport, and i like the amusement park too..would look better if there were more greens (though i havent been to an amusement park so i wouldnt know which is proper lol) on your first few pages you posted a transit map, i havent browsed through the other pages much because im having problems with my internet, but may i see your region view? from the looks of the transit map i have a feeling the region shot would be awesome

REPLIES Deever - thanks yeah i guess i made a region too big for me to handle lol right now im still trying to finish the sprawl ..about the sig , NP, im just trying to make a link for all pinoy made CJs edted my sig to link your newest CJ too (pinoy pride!) panthersimcity4 - thanks Smarty 218 & BBfan02 - glad you liked the region view, im quite an obsessive compulsive when i develop it. Benedict - thanks, i have earlier pics of it but i havent made an update focusing entirely on it that gives ma an idea for a future update though SimRabbit - thanks, glad you liked it Jacqulina - thanks Jaky Anyway, so im still trying to finish the sprawl so the cities (outside the core) arent detailed yet its larger than i originally thought so the sprawl takes sometime to finish the eastern and northern (or north and east and if you look at the map) is more or less finished though but the south (or west) and the island is still a week away from taking form so my updates are delayed heres the latest region shot BTW (oh and the trees take sometime to plant though as i want to make the region green although im not planning to develop the "hinterlands" (northeast and northwest of the map) again, you can click on the map to see the larger image cheers

REPLIES boon1234 - glad you liked the map..its still remains unfinished (lol such a big region i dont know what to work on first)i used region census and photoshop BTW Geronimo - Glad you liked the photos, we have to thank the guys behind "photoshop" for that too Smarty218 - thank you the map has taken a backseat though, but its around 80% done SC4portugal - thank you Benedict - the purple line is elevated rail well monorail actually, but i downloaded a bat to make it look like a mix of a monorail and elevated rail..i call the system Puerto Joya Skytrain though Gabry85 - thanks, which airport though? the hellhole airport? Nardo69 - thanks nardo, well that "accidental" clicking happens to me too but, like you, i always find myself pleased to open a nice CJ helomoto - thank you, yeah , the fun part is in the detailing though its a painstaking process for me since im working on a very huge region (darn never knew it would be this hard lol) cityhawk - thanks, well yeah, i try to avoid going overboard with my airport, im basing it as to how a city in a developing country would look like (well if it did exist, i think it would be the 2nd biggest in the philippines) so yeah its a little overboard already lol as for the avenues though, im basing the layout (well , loosely based) on my home city of davao and we do have a lot of avenues Berethor - thank you friend Charles Rodulfo - oi kabayan thanks haha no lasalle for me since im an atenean but meh, i might make one too Pilotdaryl - thanks, and most of my work wont be possible without your (airport team) help, so i thank you for that too (please extend my gratitude to the other team members too) Bobinator - thanks! these coastal suburbs (and inland as well) are what im working on right now AceofSpades -thank you developing these suburbs (well in the Philippines these are called "barrios" esp the rural area) is fun..LOL ive been playing the rural areas for a long time now i almost forgot how my downtown looks like hehe STATUS REPORT Sorry for the lack of update guys, but my slow internet has limited my Simtropolis time..anyway, im still developing my region and most of the work is on the expansion of the city (farms, roads and the smaller neighboring cities) ive not put much detail yet so the next update might be in a week Heres what ive done so far (click image to view larger picture) i made 3 highways (yellow line) connecting the city to the outer neighboring cities (last highway remains unfinished though) and 1 "circumferencial highway" (red line)at the outskirts of the urban area..I also rerouted the rail that passes through the urban core to the circumferential road The highways<

is the FX5200 a good card? it depends ..as a videocard for SC4 I would say yes, it is enough but for newer and heavier games (esp DX9 games) it wont suffice Originally posted by: Bluebeard If you have the cash aim for something in the 512mb range but make sure your power supply can handle it.quote> just a heads up guys, vRAM isnt really important unless you play at high resolutions with high textures. For example, i had an 8800GTS with 320mb of vRAM, and tests show that up to 1600x1200 (or with high AA and AF) with high texture settings (vRAM eater), there isnt much difference between the 320mb version and the 640mb version that said, having 512mb of vRAM doesnt make sense in slower cards like the 5200 and even up to the 8600GT since at that settings, the GPU wont suffice anyway so in choosing between a (for example) 8600GT 512mb and 8600GT 256, unless the price difference is neglible, the 256mb is a better choice..(ive seen 8600GT 512mbs with DDR2 RAM too and under most gaming conditions an 8600GT with 256mb of DDR3 RAM would be better I agree on the PSU thing though since it is a very critical component that could make or break your rig when a PSU blows, then it could take some other components with it be aware though that in buying a PSU, the 12v rating is more imporant than the overall wattage (ie a solid 480w PSU with 32amps on the 12v rail is much better than a 600w PSU with only 20amps on the 12v rail)
