Ahh, damnit. I got the same problem. I don't remember when it started or what I did before. The game ran well for quite some time then it started to behave like you show there. I forgot about it as I worked on my GNU/Linux system and didn't play simcity for some time now. I, too, have an AMD processor and a NVIDIA card. Anyone found any solution yet? I'll play around with it on the weekend, guess I'm sure to be able to find a solution if there doesn't exist one yet.

Well, if you like dogs, I can sure provide some pics of young puppies also, as my dog got puppies some days after Cuddles got her kittens... quite funny, didn't even recognize she was pregnant... anyways, it's no problem for us

The quality is appearantly not the very best, but I try to get some better pics next time (didn't want to blind them with the flash, as they just recently opened their eyes and their place is quite dark). Well, on their main page they have quite a lot of tutorials, might be interesting for you http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ edit: I don't do much editing in irfanview but it's very handy for me because of two features: First, I don't have that included lightweight picture show program that is used in winxp, so I use it to view my CJ pics, and besides it's able to batch-process images... like convert them to .jpg, rename then in a certain order to xxx.jpg and crop/resize them to xxx*yyy...

Well, although I'm already on the board for some time, I just found that thread and thought I might post a bit about me. My nickname, Mienchen, is also my RL nickname and derives from my first name Jasmin. I'm 22 and am currently aiming at becoming an elder care nurse. I started playing SimCity with the SNES version I bought some years ago. My hobbies are quite diverse, as I do some sketching, 3D design (but I'm far from being professional), writing, poem writing, working with and at the computer in PHP and general website design, I'm currently learning Java just for fun; some of my work can be found on www.schwarzer-tempel.de (which is a german site at the moment I abandoned for about a year as I didn't have enough time working on it; but I'm currently working on redoing the site to be german and english and change the overall design and stuff like that ) If you have questions, feel free to ask

I now won't comment much on it as it's neither none of my business nor was I much better when I was younger. Still, you should refrain from doing it for your own good, as the industries get more aggressive by the day hunting down single users and sueing them (which, although maybe it's their right to do, I don't condone that). You should take a look at all the free and opensource alternatives for programs for example, and there even are ways to get free, legal MP3s as the OP mentioned or to get free movies (onlinetvrecorder.com for example). It's all free and legal. Yet it's still your choice, see it as a friendly, helpful advice...

@Micah: If you don't know it already, you might want to check this out http://www.gimp.org/ It's free, downloadable, for many operating systems and doesn't need to hide behind Photoshop if you only want to use it as a free-time tool.

Well, callagrafx is right about Photoshop being the best out there. Yet it is too pricey for me (and even $1 is more then I would plan to spend as I'm not doing any professional work with it). The Gimp is not as powerful, but I think for non-professionals it's more then enough and it's free.

Well, to be honest, I used to download quite some stuff with these networks some years ago. It changed, though... I changed to linux, so my OS is now free and open source, I only download freeware that suits my needs, my music comes from free online radio stations, my movies come from a free online tv recording site, I don't have any pirated software on my pc now... I only have an old copy of win2k installed I bought some time ago cheap on ebay for being able to play simcity. You don't need to dl ms office, open office is free, opensource and equally good, you don't need to pirate photoshop, the gimp is equally good as far as I can say and free and open source also. They did everything to prevent people from downloading pirated stuff and force people, who buy that stuff to obey their restrictions. Well, for me they achieved their goal. I'm not going to spend any buck on their services again. And I hope a lot of people will do that, too...

You could look on the STEX for the industry doubler or the industry quadrupler (they double / quadruple the number of jobs provided by the industries). Otherwise, you might want to send all the dirty industry to another square outside your city and make it an industrial town.

I'm a big Fallout fan and played all of them And no, you don't build cities there. Fallout is a 'post-apocalyptic role playing game', meaning that you explore the world with your character.
