Congrats to Obama anyway... its awesome to see that he won by such a landslide (over 300 is impressive)!

What an utterly ridiculous connection to make.quote> I wouldn't have said it was utterly ridiculous, a few places enjoy to tuck into a Cat every now and then, it's generally not a popular practice in Western Civ because certain animals such as Cats and Dogs had uses in our cultural development. Cats killed vermin such as Mice, Rats etc, and Dogs were seen as very intelligent creatures that were easily trained to do simple tasks such as herding and guarding. We tend to hold domesticated pets in higher regard than Livestock animals due to their usefulness in the past - a Chicken, besides its meat, has absolutley no use and is therefor expendable in the search for a meal. If dogs and cats were as useless as chickens, no doubt we'd eat them too, it just happens that they have been intelligent and useful during our reign on this planet and we treat them with massive respect... so much infact that the Government gets involved to make sure it stays that way (and so we don't start eating them)

A government has only so many hands... when it starts doing stuff like this, maybe its about time it stopped wasting tax payers money This is common sense to the majority of people who have pets, I don't see why the government needs to remind us... its like running TV ads reminding us how to walk

Nice to see the government focussing on the important stuff :/

Yeah, its not as near as wacky or as funny as Red Alert 2... its just pure cheese. They are all terrible actors... the Soviets can't get the accent right, Krukov sounds French and Cherdenko sounds like a Yorkshireman with a cold. And EVA... christ, could they not have found somebody with a more "neutral" sounding English accent? The most convincing actor is J K Simmons, the guy who plays President Ackerman... Ackerman probably has the most convincing storyline as well... and the most agreeable end (heheh). Also, I'm disappointed that they didn't do this the way they did C&C3... that the Story is the same but from different perspectives, instead of each Campaign leading your forces to Victory over your 2 enemies, then only 1 of the story lines continuing in the next game (most probably the Allied storyline since that's always the case)
-
Meh... completed both the Soviets and Allied missions (just the Empires to do now). I'm very surprised how very little there is to this game - the only Landmark in this game is the Statue of Liberty, that is it! In RA2 there was the White House, Pentagon, Eiffel Tower, Houses of Parliament... honestly, the list can go on. Maybe they were allowed to be a little more liberal with what they could blow up in the days before 9/11, but 7 years on that excuse really should have faded into the distance. Also, the characters are a lot less memorable than the ones in RA2. Even Sam, the Premiers Terrapin, was more memorable than most the people in RA3. The Premier should be a moronic eccentric, and his advisor/closest General should be a calculated and dark Psychopath... but both should not be the same as the other, that just calls for a boring scenario with predictable and boring dialogue. EA need to hire some more inventive script writers...

India's moon mission puts it alongside China, Japan and US in lunar race
BurroDiablo replied to JakeMD's topic in Current Events
Last time I checked... the US went up there in the late 60's to spite the Russians and discovered it was a giant waste of time because there was no unlimited supply of Cheese. Nixon lied. In all seriousness though... this is just a game of Patriotism, just like the last space race... all it will succeed in is flooding Asia with cheap lead based Space themed toys and creating so much Space debris that it'll be hailing flaming metal for the next decade. You wont be able to send satellites up there for more than a few months without them being knocked out by a petrified Onion Baji. -
Yes yes, Sex sells... EA have probably resorted to the lowest of all marketing tactics. Its worked though, sadly. I got it a few days ago and I've experienced my first fist biting crash... It stops me progressing to the next Soviet Mission (Allies or Empire I could tolerate not caring for the Story, but the Sov's seem to be the main theme this time round and I can't NOT know the entire story). One thing I do love however... the MUSIC. Holy hell, EA have out done themselves... this (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rda1Uq9ATig - sorry, no proper link since Simtrop hates Google Chrome (or vise versa) ) has got to be the Sovietest (such a word?) song evar. I couldn't be more Russian even if it manifested itself in Lenin and did a Vodka fuelled Cossak dance; I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! The game however, slightly lack luster and not as action filled as I'd hoped. No Nukes is a devastating twist, but maybe the Premiers little scientist buddy will bring forth his Nuclear knowledge in an Expansion pack or something *crosses fingers, toes and eyes. Microsoft Patents Technology to Automatically Censor Real-Time Speech

It sounds like GTA death matches will probably become more like an Episode of Father Ted "Fup you ya fupping backstard!" -

However, that is a visual obsession. The definition of "Obsession" can differ greatly from person to person. This kid may only be playing it for a few hours a night and his parents will see that as an obsession. Hell, the way they describe the kid, it sounded like me when I was 15 (given the Playstation wasn't confiscated)... it's probably the same situation for thousands of western children. Just happens his Parents definition of "Obsession" is missing out on Sports. I mean, I when I played Spore for the first time I was a little engrossed and my Girlfriend said I was "Obsessed" even after an hour.

Intervention this sort of way by "confiscation" or "banning" can be pretty upsetting for a child, especially when it is for no good reason. I mean, he's playing less Sports? So the hell what? Now you've got a Teenage runway to contend with, possibly even a Kid who is going to be quite volatile from now on because you keep pressuring him to do what YOU want and not what HE wants. My step-dad was a tight ass, he used to do this sort of stuff to me and my brother all the time for quite trivial things, like not doing the dishes or forgetting to walk the dogs before it got dark. Its hard not to snap when you cannot understand motives for denying you your relaxation time when your home from school or work, intervention during leisure time just causes more stress than its worth. If things get bad, if it starts affecting your Child's grades, or if he misses whole days of School to just sit at home and play games, then confront your child and discuss to him/her that if they don't start pulling weight then you may have to limit game time to a few hours a night. Don't just shout and scream at them, confiscate their possessions and then expect the kid to be the dream Child within the hour, it just doesn't work that way, and the Parents who do seem to think that kind of harsh punishment works (and believe me there are a lot) baffle the crap out of me.

As long as they don't force it upon us I'm fine with it. God knows swearing is needed over XBL, some people are vastly annoying and deserve their ear chewed off. -

---SAKHALIYA'S WIKI--- Welcome to Sakhaliya, Comrades! I am 3rd Commissonar of Intelligence, Stefan Makomov, i'll be your update officer in this Intel Dossier. Together, we will build this nation to an unpredictable strength. The Sakhaliyan Peoples Republic is a relatively small nation, we pride ourselves on hard work, fairness and the glorious writings of our Leader, Premier Uri Buriya. -SAKHALIYAN INFORMATION- The C.H.P was formed in 1948 to end the dispute over who should claim ownership of Sakhalin Area; Russia or Japan. After a short 2 year occupation by Soviet and US forces it was decided that the Region should be free to Govern itself, leading the quick birth of the nation and the transation of the post World War II world into the Cold War era. It is a small Country that occupies the far Easterly border of Russia and also lays claim to the Island of Sakhalin which the country derives its name from. Sakhaliya has coasts with the Pacific Ocean, Sea of Okhotsk, Sea of Japan, the Sakhalin Straight and shares its borders with Russia to the East, the Primorsky State to the South, China to the South East and the KSSR to the North East (although Sakhaliya does not officially recognise its existence). -Where in the World?- For those of you with little Geographical Knowledge, Sakhaliya is located at the Eastern end of Russia, north of Vladivostok and not too far from our Japan. The Balkya States with Major urban Centres (C.C.P.X disputed member) - (Old) Sakhaliyan Map with contour lines - -More Information- Sakhaliya has a Council Seat in the IPON, its main focus is the saftey of member states and the promotion of workers and Union rights amoungst the Pact members although it is occasionally critisized itself over the lack of Democratic establishment and poor Economic Development. Dispite this, it has well established Diplomatic relations with many nations, including the United States whom many still believe are trying to supress Communism from existense. Sakhaliya's two large Neighbours, Russia and China, both support Sakhaliya in many ways including Militarily and Finacially. This is seen as the main contributing factor to why the United States will not interfere with the developing Nation by any means. WOW Addict plays alone...on 36 accounts...
BurroDiablo replied to Explodingsims's topic in Current Events
My brother just informed me that the main WoW server is down. Looks like this guys gonna have to go Cold Turkey, lmao. Honestly though... what is the fascination with WoW... christ sake, I used to watch my brother play it and it bored me to tears. -
Silence heretic! Originally posted by: GMT IDK if that's something for you, but I found a nice thingy at the C&C site, it's called "Red Alert 3 Step" and goes pretty much like this: 1) dl Red Alert 1 (basic game) for free 2) pre-order Red Alert 3 and recieve a free Red Alert 2 3) receive Red Alert 3 on release date looks like my official and inofficial add-on discs for Red Alert 1 come back to life ^^ EDIT: isn't one of the girls Autumn Reeser?quote> Doesn't appeal if you bought the "First Decade" box set a few years back (which I did). EA feel like they're going to gain customers from this minor bout of generosity, but in reality, they're just encouraging people to download Pirates since the CD Protection is the same as Spore (although, they upped it to a max of FIVE installs). Funny thing is, the Pirated copies usually come without the SecuROM protection so you can install a pirated copy as many times as you wish. If that's the case, why the hell would anybody BUY the game? EA are thinking with their wallets YET again. Heres a suggestion for EA - Instead of Punishing the people who BUY the game, Reward them. Don't boast about how, if you buy the game you get to play online and your are entitled to Technical Support (zomg), that does not appeal to many people. Instead, make content available for download FREELY to EXPAND the game and the gameplay! New Maps, New Units, New Abilities... the Ability to download the Expansion packs for a discount price. You want people to buy your games, you need to start treating the consumer with respect.

*Sorry, I read your post, but still, wouldn't the throw your perception of distance out of wack? quote> Not really... you just need to scale things down abit. Look at video games these days, alot of stuff isn't to scale. They didn't fit the whole of Venezuela into Mercenaries 2, or all of London into The Getaway, or all of Pripyat into Stalker... its unwieldy and time consuming. The desired effect can pretty much be acheived with scaled versions. Besides... to make the map to ACTUAL scale would have taken too long, literally the man hours of an office block and the ability to slow down time so I didn't die of old age in the process... I mean, Sakhaliya's scale right now is about 8x8 large city tiles [20x20 miles in real measurements], to call for something to scale would mean making a map roughly 550x550 miles, thats about... umm... 220x220 large city tiles... thats a spoon bending Gelleresc sum of 48400 large tiles in total. Nuh uh, no freaking way. I thought the 64 I had to forest and tidy up myself were bad... if you feel like doing that to over 48000 of the frigging things you be my guest (correct me if i'm wrong btw since my maths is atrocious. I could barely get my head around that stupid Primary School piece of addition) And what's with the "peoples" (without the apostrophe)...?quote> No Spell checker in Photoshop? Plus, the font I usually use doesn't allow for it so its a force of habit to miss it out. Besides, who cares apart from English teachers? Interludeski 2.0 I can has updates. This update WAS going to be on a large refinery building on the Amur river... but just as I was completing the main part if of the facility, the game quit to the desktop and I had to bite my fist in fury. So, I decided to go with the classic approach... build from the inside out. That way I guess I can lay out the transport first and worry about the little bits like power, water etc later (since most of that stuff will be in the Eastern district near the Amur anyway) A quick shot of the Governmet district of Khabarovsk. As it turns out, I've become the thing I used to hate; a Plopper. Acctually, i've come to love it more and more since I have greater control of what my city looks like. I know it seems like i'm travelling down the worn and beaten path yet again, its quite similar to the old Khabarovsk mainly because i'm using pretty much the same buildings. Thats kind of due to the limited amount of buildings I like to use... theres very few of them I feel fit perfectly into this style of CJ, and the buildings you do see are usually repeated... ALOT. But it gives some uniformity to the grand scheme of things, makes it harder to please the eye and therefor I need to work harder to achieve that special something! I like this however. I managed (thanks to Swat Medics Sea Level mod) to get the Maxis snow to work on all maps at all levels! It did take some time sorting out some plugins that conflicted, but now I can have my much much wanted a needed snow scenes on more than just a select few of my cities. Sakhaliya 1.0 had that problem... most of my Coastal cities couldn't have snow since their altitudes were too low, but now we have snow at all altitudes We'll have the Premier building an Army of Snowmen in no time! Who needs Terracotta? - Burro

Coming from a man who just gave hundreds of Billions of Dollars of taxpayers money to people who already have hundreds of billions of dollars, I don't think he gives a toss about his approval rating. No doubt in my mind that he doesn't actually what he's given... he's just handed them by a guy in a rabbit costume and told if he signs he'll get to ride the Trikey for half an hour.

Well, I know theres a "Left to Right hand drive" mod, but not a "Right to Left hand drive" one. You'd think it should have worked vise versa too, then again, I may be looking in the wrong places.
