One of the 'heavyweights' in Mountainview with a population of almost 50.000 medium and high wealth residents... Cityhall and Police HQ... The Beehive... One of the major employers in town... Gardenville Subdivision and academic center... Sportspark... Hitech industrial park... Night impressions... Next we'll get back into nature for a while... ;-)

Last time we took a good look at the eastern parts of Covington - So today we'll hike across that bridge and take in the much denser residential and commercial districts on the western shores of the river... North to south flyover The northern CBD Residential districts in central Covington Old southern CBD Nighttime Departure at night That's it for Covington...

The founders all settled on the eastern bank of the river... it stayed mostly rural. North- and South Covington North to south flyover... Old commercial and residential districts... Old farms slowly getting modernized... Small regional rescue station... Small train station and worker's tenements... Modest industrials... Small regional waste collection center... Secluded beach for windsurfers... Next time we'll cross that bridge to see what's happening on the western bank... ;-)

We enter through the old part of town... Crossing the main bridge into the wealthier part of town... Going down to the beach resort... Back on the road through some agricultural and suburban areas... Hiking up the forest trail to reach the funicular... Up we go for a breathtaking view... Hurry down to check into the Family Inn... Departure... Hop on the bus! ;o)

Castle River

Pack your lunch box - long ride ahead... This was a rather difficult tile to work with, lots of steep terrain and no room to work along the river banks... it's a mainly scenic tile - aside from some farms there is no industry, the 3500 residents commute to the western neighbor for industrial jobs. The small commercial units scattered among the residential sites cater mostly to the tourists and are mainly small B'n'B hotels, restaurants and shops. So just get on a boat or a bus and enjoy the sights... Hope...

No, no - NO! We're not going to "stop by" at the casino! We're going sightseeing straight down to the beach... Hang out with some nice fancy drinks, take a swim and some sun... Do some more sightseeing... Then have some good clean fun at the Seaport Village... Where we also spend the night. And first thing in the morning we leave. Forget the casino! I'm down to my last 20 bucks anyway...

We enter the town through the agricultural and industrial areas... Soon we get onto the 'Strip' where all the fancy hotels and shopping areas are located... Let's take a flyover of the whole 'Strip' - starting north we pass the 'Marina Residentials', 'Villa MaryJo' with the smaller 'Family Inn' and 'Marina Apartels' directly at the beach, the 'Marina Mall', 'The Fortune Serene' and the shopping complex at the end of the Strip... Before we continue with the main tour, let's just make a quick day-trip to Murnay Tower Okay now, everybody back on the bus please! We'll now enter a largely agricultural area... Castle Rock Tour

Castle Rock is part of a large city (for this region) with about 25000 sims... First, let's look at some of the industrial areas... And now we take a timeout for a nice relaxing excursion... As usual, you're checkd in at the Family Inn - your 'all inclusive home base'... For the tour we could take the bus - and have a sleepy ride through a long avenue tunnel... let's rather rent a bicycle and go see some sights... The bike path flanks the avenue for a while... But soon veers off into 'the wilderness' -...

Pine Valley

This busy town with its 25.000 residents is one of the educational hubs of the Mountainview region. A small city of about 15000 centered around some industry and commerce - mainly food processing, lumberyards, lumber shipping, small commercials etc... Southern Belle

Though this is mainly an agricultural town, tourism has brought in lots of different business opportunities... Join me for a stroll around the area :-) First of all a huge Greyhound Terminal... On the left a small hotel, on the right the former St.Cathrine Chapel which now serves as a museum... More hotels and cottages... Just the place a family would want to take the kids for a weekend... Moving on we reach the more residential areas... The fishpen hands apparently got bored and started digging - nobody...

So there were this two guys with a faible for bicycles, dreaming how good it would be to have bikes roaming all over the sim-planet... better air, fewer 12year-old couch potatoes, new business opportunities... They put together their meager resources, leased a rundown warehouse and started deforming metal... To make ends meet, they started by producing bike stands, bad weather shelters and similar items - and were successful! Soon they were able to buy a second warehouse and started producing custom...

PineView Neighborhoods

Still in the vicinity of Junction City we also find rather lowkey neighborhoods as well as more beautiful scenic spots... Should I stay or should I go? Most of these folks are not so sure yet... Following the river we see some people are already sure... that they found their own little paradise... Family Resorts and Ponds - just the place a family would want to take the kids for a weekend... Junction City

This update bridges the end of 2010 and the start of 2011 - so it came out rather large, so sorry... Oh well, leaves you with more time to look at the details while waiting for the rest. And I assure you, the series is interesting down to the last byte... ;o)) This is a moderately well-off city of about 30.000... Though it is home to some HiTech industry, it serves mostly as a transportation hub for the region. And it developed a quite interesting commercial district as well... But first a look at the...

After seeing the last Challenger mission taking off... Mountainview Region considered to put up its own space program. It quickly became evident that the tremendous costs cannot be shouldered by such a small region... and the residents were not all that happy with the presence of all those military types, the tight security checkpoints all over the place and the influx of shady characters, as well as the wholesale damage to nature... So this program had to be cancelled even before the first scheduled...

Satisfaction (17 Slides)

Tonight let's just take a leasurely stroll around one of the medium cities of the Mountainview region... Satisfaction. This small citiy of about 6000 is well set with a small range of industries, mainly foodprocessing and some hitech labs and small commercial ventures. These folks are highly satisfied with their lives and love nothing more than their well-tended homes and gardens. Unlike the neighbouring cities they don't encourage masses of tourists to blitz their community... See ya around... ;-))

This is an industrial sector dedicated to fishing, freight distribution and boat maintenance. It also had a pretty challenging terrain feature - the main (southern) basin lies a bit lower than the rest of the land and waters in the north... coming in from the south (swing bridge) all boats with business up north need to go through the locks in the SE corner.
