About this City Journal

My New CJ centred around the independant state of Newland. It incorporates rural life as well as showing off transportation systems and huge metropolises as well as suburban areas! PLEASE...

Entries in this City Journal

I have some bad news for you guys as well as some good news.

I'll give you the bad news first.

I'm ending this CJ. Newland has had a short run of 6 months, but I feel that it hasn't grown enough here. I have gained a lot of experience from this CJ and that experience  will help me a ot when I make a new CJ.

The Good News:

The good news is that this does not mean the end of City Journaling for me. I will be back shortly with a new CJ.

I am not going to delete this CJ. I'm going to keep it in my CJ profile as an archive. You will not be able to comment on this Cj from now on, though.

Thank you for your support of this CJ. Without it, it would not have survived.

-Wishing you the best,

Hi guys and welcome to yet another update of Newland. In this update, I will be concentrating on the newly built CBD of Amistad. The CBD is a wash with highrises, green areas as well as a vast glr network which twists and turns in and out of the many alleyways. I won't go on anymore so, here you go. I give you..... Amistad

Some traffic building up in the moring rush outsite the Aviva building.

The Fischer building, a department store just outside the CBD. It is a protected structure and doesn't really blend in with the rest of the modern city.

This is a plaza between the main BTM station and one of many glr stations. This plaza can be full of people coming in from the surounding residential areas on the bullet train and trensferring themselves onto the glr to get to their jobs in the city centre

A shot of the city in the night time. Not the acces to the city from the RHW.

Farren Park, one of the many green areas in the city. It makes the city more than just a concrete heaven.

Another shot of the city in the night. Just mesmorizing, isn't it?

I just love thi car park. It looks amazing in the night time surrounded by the many highrises.

And finally a one of the main rail station on a rainy day. What do you think of the image editing in it? I'm eager to find out.

Please leave your comments and subscribe to this CJ.

All the best,

Hi Guys and welcome to yet another update to Newland. I know I haven't been around lately, but I have been very busy with school and other projects including the Ultimate Guide to SC4, which I have abandoned because I was too busy and simply couldn't find time to do it.(More infoavailable on my blog, link in sig). Wellanyways, I am finally on my holidays so now I can concentrate on this CJ a little bit more.

This update is going to be based on a new city tile, Amistad. Amistad is a new city  in Newland. It is a planned settlement which has not been developed yet. In this update, I am going to introduce you to the first aspect of development, Transport. The transport system in Amistad will consist mainly of road, rail and bullet rail as well as bus further down the line. I do tend to ramble on here so feel free to just skip this and look at the pictures as I usually do.1.gif

The main type of transport, road. The motorway routes in Amistad are the M1 and the M2. The M1 is the primary route which will go through the city centre and the M2 terminates onto the M1 via a trumpet interchange. The plan for this city is to allow motorway users to get to the city centre quickly and easily as well as getting to other mototways just as quickly and easily. This is achieved by planning ahead. The M1 has two interchanges of a high standard to access the city centre. The M2 can easily access those interchanges and can get around quickly. You will be able to see this in the pictures.

The main interchange between the M1 and M2 is completely freeflow and interchanges into the city centre are limited and are of a high quality so as to limit the amount of backups that can occur.

I think that that image is a bit bare though, don't you? What about a bit of traffic?

I dunno. It still doesn't look right. I know, how about some trees, that will fill the place up. Yeah

Yeah that looks a lot better.

Here's a shot of the whole city as it currently stands.

Stay tuned if you want to see more developments. Please subscribe and leave your comments.

All the best,

Welcome to Update 15 odf Newland. For this update I am going to be showcasing an interchange trhat I made last night. It is a three-level roundabout interchange between a MHW and an RHW. The interchange is part of  a city called Maidenhead which is yet to be developed but will be soon. The mosaic/montage is rahter big so I have a thumbnail link for you instead.

Enjoy! (Zoom in to see the bigger picture)
Thats all for now. More to come later

Welcome to Update 14: Barrenstown Waterfront. I know I haven't got much new stuff for you in this update, butIf you've been viewing my blog or the forum version of this CJ, you will have known that I am busy with various other projects as well as School.

Well nonetheless, I do have a short update for you of Barrenstown Waterfront in the night. I have made little progress since I last showed you it in a teaser but I have expanded it to the south and some to the west, which I will show in a future update.

Here Goes:

That's all for this update. New update coming up within the next two weeks.

Welcome to Update 13 of Newland. I hope you like my new Banner. For this update, I'm going to finish up the developments at Jameson County International Airport. No, it's not a new terminal, It's an expansion of Terminal 1 to the south. This new expansion is primarily designed to accomodate the various short-haul flights that come in and out of the airport each day. The new building consists of 7 termianl gates, adding to the 16 existing gates, which cater primarily for Beoing 747s. With the new termnal expansion, an underground complex full of 3,000 parking spaces, a new bus terminal for commuters and it uses the existing BTM station. It connects to the main Terminal 1 building via a short walkway.

This will be the last installment in the CJ related to airports. I will get back to city showcasing then.

Here goes:

This is the entrance to the underground complex which consists of a bus terminal, parking spaces and various commercial units.

The N67 has been re-aligned so many times since the construction of Terminal 1. It was completely re-alligned with the construction of that terminal and had to go under the first runway, then with the construction of terminal 2, It was again re-alligned to go under the new runway and some bad bends were taken out. Then, It was re-alligned to accomodate the construction and finally it was widened to avenue standard for the increased amount of commuters to the new terminal building.

The old Allignment of the N67

The New Allignment of the N67

Here is a picture of a reconstructed interchange just south of Terminal 1 on the N10 It links Terminal 1 North to Terminal 1 South(Terminal 3) via the N67. The interchange used to be a grade-separated junction with 2 way roads but was recently upgraded to avenue standard for Terminal 3.

A shot of the gates in the terminal

And Finally, this is a mosaic of the completed airport.

Sorry for that gap in the images again.

That is all for this update. A new update is coming soon. Please leave your comments and opinions and I will get back to you on them later

Update 12: Jameson County International Airport

Terminal 2

Hi guys and welcome to update 12 of Newland. For this update, I will be focusing on Jameson County Int. Airport Terminal 2 instead of my planned showcase of barrenstown and Charing Island. I wasn't happy with showing you an unfinished city so I thought that the new Terminal would be a better choice.

Terminal 2 was built to aleviate the constant congestion of Terminal 1 which was not built to accomodate the rate of growth in the developing cities and towns of East Newland. Terminal 2 has 11 gates for departures and arrivals. It has a large terminal building and various services. It has 1 bus terminal, and a rail hub with 6 platforms fir HSR and bullet rail transit. There are also 9,000 parking spaces for both long-term and short-term. Over-al the terminal ahs a capacity of 58,000 commuters a day. A new runway was also constructed as well as additional taxiways and some minor improvements to faults with Terminal 1's design.

Without further a due, I give you Terminal 2!

This is a mosaic of The whole airport as requested.

Sorry about the small white line between the pictures

A close-up of the main terminal building. It gets congested a lot areound here.

This is a shot of the Terminal Gates. There are 11 in total.

And finally, this is a shot of the Airport road Interchange. The avenue from the terminal terminates her at the N10 which consinues southwards to Harland City and Northwards where it tunnels under Jameson County Outlet mall to Terminal 2 where the N10 terminates.

I hope you enjoyed this update.

I won't be updating as frequently from now until the end of May because of School. Then I get my summer holidays, three months of freedom!

All the best,

 New Teaser

Hi Guys,

Welcome to another teaser. I have been working on this small city, Barrenstown for the past week, while doing my other project (yet to be revealed). This is a shot of Charing Island. It is a shoppers paradaise with a host of high street shops. I hope you enjoy it. Please tell me what you think of the brightness editing. I haven't yet mastered it, so I'm curios as to what you think of it.

Here Goes:

Please leave your comments and opinions and I will get back to you later.

All the best,

 Update 11

Welcome to Update 11. This update is focused on Jameson County International Airport. Jameson County International Airport (JC) is the primary airport of Newland. It is 25 miles north-west of Harland City on the main N10 and N67. The N10 terminates there, as it is the main route from Harland City to the Airport. It is in close proximity to the Jameson County Outlet mall which was showcased in the last update and is home to 3 hotels, The Marriot(Simgoober), Raddison SAS (Glenni)and the Double tree Hotel(also Simgoober). It has only one terminal and runway at present, although there has been campaigning for a second terminal and runway. The proect is only in the planning stages though and funding from the Newlandian Government has not yet been allocated. The Airport is also one of Aer Lingus's bases.

Without further a due, I give you Jameson county Int. Airport!39.gif

This is a picture of the main Enrance to Teminal 1. It includes express and local lanes i.e lanes directly to the terminal and lanes to services e.e car parks, hotles, petrol stations. This is the terminus of the Main N10 route. Also visible is the Raddison SAS Hotel  and the main bus Terminal in the Airport.

A close up of the Raddison SAS hotel and the Bus Terminal during a sunny spell in the day.

This is a shot of the Parking Area. It has no less that 4350 parking spaces. Also visible in on the right is the Marriot Hotel.

What is it time for?

                               Its Mega Mosaic Time!

That's all for this update.

All the Best,

All bats are by Heblem which are all available on the STEX.

 New Update

Hi Guys, For this update I am going to show you all some shots of an Interchange that I built tonight. It isn't actually part of Newland, but I like to showcase interchanges when I come up with them.

Here goes:

This is a full ariel shot of the interchange.

Here is the central area of the interchange.

This is my first video in SC4. It is a drive through Glen Heights. I wanted to show you the town and the road system we have so I thought that a video was the best way to show you!

 New Update

Hey Guys,

Welcome to update 8. I know that my last update was not of that good quality but I hope I can make up for it here!

This update is based around the development of the first suburb of Harland City, Glen Hieghts Here, I have posted some shots of the town. I hope you like.

Pic. 1: This is the main acces point into the town where the M7, a Medium capacity Urban Motorway coming from Harland City intersects with The N67, a medium capacity rural primary route. The N67 intersects with the R001, a regional route which goes through the centre of Glen Heights, by means of a roundabout.

This is the picture of the main interchange where the M7 intersects with the N67:

This is a small mosaic of the whole town at present.

All the best,

 New Update!!

Welcome to the New Update of Newland. This update is just some miscellanious screenshots of Harland City.

You may think that this update has no real subject, well it is kind of a filler for another huge update of another showcase.

I will be showing the developments that are going on in the City.

Picture 1: The current map of Harland City Light Rail (HCLR). It is a work in progress and is yet to be extended to many of the city's boundaries as well as new lines to be built through the city. It may seem very spaced out, but the ground rail newtork of Harland City (RNHC) supplements the HCLR.

Map Of Harland City Light Rail Network

Picture 2: This is a new interchange on the M1. It is the terminus of the M1 Mainline and the beginning of the N1, which is the continuation of the M1. It intersects with the N7 which is a Medium Capacity Urban Motorway that is designed to alleviate the strains on the at grade roads and transport commuters into central areas quickly. FYI: The blacked out part is a surprise that is in store that is a few updates away, depending on how long it takes me to develop it.

Picture 3: This is a shot of the Harland Court Shopping Mall. It is in the heart of the City and has 7,000 underground parking spaces. It offers high street brands such as Dior and Louis Vitton as you can see in the photo as well as low cost department stores such as Primark (an English retail Giant) and Tesco (also an English retail Giant).

Well that's all for this update. I know it is a little random but, I will make sure not to dissapoint on the next update which is not to be missed.....

All the Best,

P.S: Please feel free to post your opinions and comments on this update below!

Teaser: Update 7

Hey Guys. I thought since I am going to have no laptop for a week (repairs), I should give you something to dwell on for that time1.gif. So here you are. Its a zoomed out picture of the city as it is now. Please excuse the udi icon in the back. I had to do it in a rush before the courier comes and takes away my laptop today8.gif.

See you all in a week.

New Update

Well for this update I'm going to show you a new interchange to the East of Harland City between the M1 and the N5. It is more commonly known as the gateway interchange as it marks the eastern entrance to the CBD at present.

First I will show you the current progress with building.

This is a screenshot of the development just west of the interchange that I have been working on since the last update. It's not completely finished yet, but its just a taste of what's to come.

This is the Western Terminus of the N5 (a medium capacity urban motorway). It terminates onto the N6 that is a high capacity urban avenue.

This is a central view of the interchange. There is also the Yellow line

of Harland City Light Rail running through the interchange. It carries passengers from the south-east boroughs into the CBD.

This is a full zoom out of the interchange. Note why it is called the Gateway Interchange. Development hasn't fully expanded to the east of the city.

This is the parclo interchange that is just north of the main interchange. It intersects with the N6.

That's it for this update. I hope you enjoyed it. Please leave some comments for me to answer in the next update3.gif.

All the best,

New Update

For this update I will show you the BIG THING, Harland City.

I tis a city that I have been developing for about a week and is full of downoaded content. That solves the peoblem of the first update.

Unlike the first update, this is a metropolis. It is still developing rapidly.

Here goes:

This is the biggest building in the City at present.

There it is. Post your comments and opinions please!

As I said in the last teaser, i am very busy in RL so there will be less frequent updates as before, I am much busier now so there will be less frequent updates as before.

Bye for now,

Rainyday (Darragh)

Fractional angled road and rail

The New FLUP (Flexible Underpasses) plugin from the NAM

The new custom interchange that comes with the NAM, this one is a trumpet interchange

This is the T-RAM (Tram in road plugin)

This is also where I plan to start the first residential area of the new city.

An Interchange between an RHW-8 and an RHW-2 as well as a road

A variation of a diamond interchange around the New RHW-6C

A RHW Trumpet interchange
