Glenwood Military Academy

East Atkinos: Glenwood Military Academy
The Schulmania National Army has the need to train good officers. But, building a military from the ground up is very challenging. Luckily, capable leadership has led to the development of a new military academy to fill the officer ranks with capable and highly qualified personnel. At a site in East Atkinos, a sizeable contingent of engineers, builders and military personnel have converged to turn the rolling farmland into a sprawling military academy campus with supporting town and port. Named for the small farming village which once occupied this location, the new town of Glenwood centers around the state of the art Glenwood Military Academy.
The Glenwood Military Academy comprises about half of the town's area. The school, itself, centers on a parade ground for cadets and the H. Irwin Rotunda, the signature building on campus. At the north end of the campus is the Chancellery, where Chancellor Mooky, Field Marshal of Schulmania Military Forces, directs the actions of the army. Let's take a closer look.

The campus of Schulmania Military Academy can be seen in its entirety in this wide angle view. The H. Irwin Rotunda sits in the center of the parade grounds and the Chancellery is across Gen. Oakberg Avenue from the Rotunda. Administrative and classroom buildings flank the central green space.

A closer view of the Rotunda (lower left) and the Chancellery (top right), two of the focal points of the academy campus.

At the northeastern corner of campus, at the intersection of Gen. Oakberg Ave and Admiral Manning Avenue sit the three administrative buildings. Commanding the intersection, the Col. Pearson Center houses the Admissions Office, Cadet Processing Center, and offices of military agency liaisons. Adjacent, the massive, matching sandstone facades of Picklesimer Hall (offices) and the Johnson Library help define this quadrant of the campus.

Many classes are held in the two buildings comprising the Quadrangle. Fronting Gen. Murphy Avenue and leading to the Rotunda through a landscaped plaza featuring a statue of the Winged Feline Victory, both Fox Hall and Ewing Hall are often packed with eager students looking forward to serving with distinction and making their marks on destiny.

Winged Feline Victory is a popular them for statues nationwide. The inspiration for this theme started here.

Nearby, just across Gen. Murphy Avenue, is the National Military Chapel.

At the southeastern corner of campus, the Commissary and Base Exchange provide for many of the necessities and luxuries cadets and the community need.

Across the street from the commissary is the Glenwood Officers Club. Membership costs just one schulmoneta per year and all officers are welcome to apply.

The Academy Commandant and resident top military brass are housed in the Officers' Quadrangle.

Officer Quarters are provided for faculty and for officers coming for specialized training or pursuing advanced degrees.

Standard issue barracks are provided for cadets.

Many officers and cadets mingle at the Tweety's Cat Café, a popular pub franchise with felines everywhere.

Here, at Glenwood, resides Schulmania's hope for a well-trained military force.
