Airing It Out, Maxis Style
A permanent site has been selected for the development of the Schulmania National Air Force academy and base. In an unprecedented move, the selected area has been transferred from the jurisdiction of the Regency of Wirdleonia to the Bureau of Feline Affairs, which will govern the territory as a Special Military District.
The territory ceded to the BFA is outlined in red. New borders will be shown on the next national map. Princess Katherine signed the papers authorizing the transfer, which were accepted by Governor General H. J. Franciflora.
Construction crews and military personnel from BFA's XII Corps are already hard at work building a permanent military academy for air force training and a suitable air base. Meanwhile, scientists and engineers are hard at work developing the conceptual design for a new flying craft! Here's how it is projected to operate.
Governor General Franciflora has selected the name "Maxis Air Force Base" for the area under development. The academy will be known as the Schulmania Air Force Academy, or SAFA. The town which will inevitably sprout up around the base shall be known as Maxis City. A sensitive military installation like this needs a few things: isolation, secrecy and security. Isolation is provided due to the location at the far southeast of the country, with no settlements nearby. Secrecy is preserved because the Wirdleonia River provides a continuous border around the enclave, allowing for research and development away from prying eyes. Security is maintained because the two ports, one on the west and one on the east, are secured by security forces. The Bureau of Feline Affairs is under orders from the Governor General and the Supreme Wirdle to execute a finely-honed plan for seizing the initiative in the war with Queensferry. The efforts now to be undertaken at Maxis AFB are a crucial step in this plan.
Entry is gained through one of two ports of entry - Westport and Eastport. The two facilities are exactly opposite each other on the peninsula. All traffic to the military district is processed through these two ports of entry.
Eastport handles traffic for Tanagiers and all points downriver. The facility is secured by Tactical Response Team members from the 163rd Regiment, XI Corps - Division 24.
Westport handles all traffic from Coco Landing and all points upriver. It is secured by a joint task force of the Office of Internal Security and the Tactical Response Team from the 163rd Regiment.
One of the most important aspects of Maxis AFB is providing places for air force members to live and train. Recruitment for the air force has been hampered by the lack of facilities and materiel necessary to wage an effective air campaign. Rapid action by Field Marshal Mooky has gone a long way toward redressing this critical need.
Two quadrangles of barracks have been built, capable of accommodating thousands of air force personnel.
Support facilities for the base include shops, restaurants, and the Panfelinic Chapel, open to all felines at all hours, day or night.
On the east side of the base, the tall tower of Katzenkitten Castle marks the offices of the Logistics Command - Air, Military Support & Housing Agency, Office of Military Construction, and several other military agencies. Next door, the smaller Air Services Building echoes the red brick castle theme and houses offices for public service, outreach and recruitment offices. When you apply to the Schulmania National Air Force, this is where your application is processed.
White Castle is home to the Bureau of Feline Affairs XI Corps (23 and 24 Divisions) Command and also Naval Command Office 7, which is responsible for security of the Wirdleonia River from Robinia eastward.
The centerpiece of the base, other than the operational facilities, is the academy. The Air Force Academy is built in two quadrangles at the northern end of the base. One quadrangle is for undergraduate and cadet studies. The other quadrangle is for officer training and graduate work.

The Air Force Command Center is located adjacent to the academy. This is the national headquarters for the air force.
An impressive command center for an air force with no planes, isn't it?
From here, all air forces, including dozens of hot air attack balloons and weaponized kites, are controlled. And, rumor has it, academy instructors are preparing the first squadron of weaponized hang gliders. Weaponized kites and gliders will have sharp edges and can drop cannonballs up to 30 kg in mass.
