Kathine Hill is a big hill located in the north west side of the city. It runs from south west to north east, with the eastern face having a view towards the city and the eastern suburbs, while the western face a view to the Tamewood Industrial Project (TIP). All of the residents are located on the eastern face and the southern slopes and recent development has begun on the northern slopes. The western face is all protected forest, except for one area on the south western side, where the Kathine Hill Quary is. It separates the rich residents and the rest of the city from the TIP.

Kathine Hill

The suburb of Kathine Hill is at the moment the largest suburb, as the council still keeps it as a suburb despite the large size of it compared to the other suburbs. It spreads along most of the hill, with the further north/north-eastern face having the northern suburbs (West MacJohnson River suburbs). It is all of mostly rich residents, along with a few shops and parks. And of course, all this comes with an amazing view of the city.

Just enjoy these great pictures instead of reading each and every description...

Kathine Hill Quarry

As a result of the growing development of Rooleyson and the number of global trades and resources, the first quarry in Rooleyson has been established. The Kathine Hill Quarry, located on the south western side of Kathine Hill, is a quarry and mine which aims to be the main resource gathering centre in Rooleyson. Two deep "digs" and a power station make up the complex.

Stay tuned for more on the southern and western suburbs and more on the development of the TIP and farming communities. ;)

I started with update one of your city today.  I really like what you've done, and you've given me great tips on how to beautify my cities.  Wonderful job!

Yeah wonderful it is! Just a question, why exactly is the quarry in the only protected forest and not somewhere else (or near the forest)?

@ Un1, it's not in the protected forest, but next to it. That one block is assigned to the quarry, were as all the other blocks are the protected forest. The quarry was created before the forest nearby was made protected. The quarry was built there as it is close to the TIP and on the industrial side of Kathine Hill. There are plans at the moment for a bigger quarry in the southern suburbs, but we'll build up the southern suburbs more first before we make any plans with that.

Wonderful as always Asheroo!!  A lot of your ideas gave me some inspiration in the city I am working on.... however I had problems doing the "highways" like you have them.  Still working on getting them right and then maybe ease some traffic hehe.

Quick question - in an earlier post you had a modern looking city hall and for the life of me I cannot find it.  Where is that building?

Hey Jaybyrd, happy to hear I've given you inspiration. :)

As for your question, it's the Los Angeles City Hall, and is unfortunately only available in the deluxe edition. In the normal edition, you only have the Berlin City Hall (I think) for a large city hall.

Ah ok - I also looked it up and found it.  I have the Limited Edition and access to the city hall but it needs 2mil people.... so I am halfway there haha.  Thanks for the info and look forward to seeing more!!!

I have said some fairly harsh things about CXL in the past, but your work in this city journal, Ash, is top-notch stuff.  Many of the pics, as you note, do show the games strengths of to great effect.  You really have something to be proud of here, and I hope that things do work out to where the folks like you who have achieved mastery of the game will be able to keep going.

One question- can CXL be played, like SC4, in true sandbox mode?  Unconstrained by the simulation, in other words- nothing costs anything, you don't need a this to have a that, and so on.  Your pics would actually, truth be told, tempt me to buy a copy if that was the case.  Just saying I'm tempted...

Good luck!

David

Thanks David, and to your question, there is a mod at citiesxs.com (just go to the forums, there is an English section which I'm the moderator for), which is a sandbox mode. ;)
