  1. This x100... I just recently started back up with CXL and remembered how much I loved it. It has its flaws, but the modding community has done an amazing job of adding in some awesome features and buildings for the game so far. Simcity 4 in its current state is nothing like that it was out of box 10 years ago and you just cannot compare anything to it.... it has had 10 YEARS of modding to make it what it is today. I doubt I will pick up the new Simcity 5 next month... mostly due to the microtransactions and Origin platform. They are milking it as a cash-cow.... I will stick to my beloved CXL and build a wider variety of large, beautiful cities... towns... and FARMING villages.
  2. The Greene City

Very impressive overview! Although I try to stay away from the medium density residential buildings personally, it looks great still!! That highway bridge is massive.. have you tried using a smaller bridge that doesn't create such a steep incline?
  3. The Greene City

Very nice so far!! Would love to see that last shot in the daytime as well.... Big fan of post card shots of cities during dusk and such!
  4. Aegina - Interbellum - CJ

I would love to do something, but I am terrible with anything involving European-styled cities. With that said, I was looking at your map and seeing about maybe a big park or something... not sure yet :-P
  5. FARTKA - the monster in the making

Shouldn't count out the last photo imo... what's a modern European city without it's business area and high-rises!
  6. FARTKA - the monster in the making

You amaze me with your European cities!! They look so natural and sprawling..... can't wait to see it continuing on!!
  7. Marinora 2011

Very nice so far!! I agree with the repetition... wish we could do something about that at some point and get more variety in!! This is making me want to play so badly, but the game won't start on my PC. I may have to go back to CXL09 and get my fix hehe
  8. NURBERG

Looks great so far Jazyje! What plans do you have for that traffic nightmare going on along the shore? That T-intersection looks to be overwhelmed soon!!
  9. Trivordam: The Source of Opportunity

Hey Dam.... long time no see!!! Great city it looks wonderful. I have a lot of threads to catch up on in the 6 months or so since I last did anything with CXL. I am going home to download CXL2011 as soon as I am off work.... looking forward to getting back in to the game. Cheers and keep up the great work as always! -Jay
  10. Marinora City

I saw those buildings for download.... I am tempted to get them!! Can't wait to see how it comes out
  11. Clarksmore

Well I finally have some time to post all of these!!! So here is downtown finally And a traffic overview..... Since taking those pics I have already expanded downtown some and changed a few skyscrapers on the edges. Nothing you would notice in those photos so I kept em. Hope you like!
  12. Clarksmore

Thank you everyone for the comments!! Damastius - yes, I will post one on my next full update (possibly tonight or tomorrow) =D limerickgguy - it's the top of the helipad leisure building. I took another shot without it in there, but it didn't look as good so I left it. marmeladu - yes, I have a spot set aside to build a large city park with. It's still not there, but I am going over designs for it to see how I want it to look. Well... as I said... tonight or tomorrow will be the full update. Until then here are two quick teaser pics from what I will be focusing on - Downtown!
  13. Clarksmore

Hey everyone!! This is my latest creation that I have named Clarksmore. The city is based very loosely on real-world Nashville, Tennessee, USA - my home! I wanted to go for that REAL American feeling with the city. I spent a lot of time looking at each individual building and deciding how it would look... the conclusion? The medium density skilled, executive, and elite residences would NOT be used at all here. They look far too European and do not fit with the theme I am going for. That will create a small challenge when it comes to population needs, but so far so good Now here is the catch - updates may be slow to come. I am building this city very slow and deliberately. I keep comparing a Google Earth of Nashville to my city to make sure I keep the feel of it similar. I also hand place nearly 90% of the buildings and homes and constantly deleting stuff to replace it. Like... those medium-density-looking low density unskilled worker homes (apartment-styled)... I go back and delete all of them and replace with homes. Things like that take a lot of time. I really hope you enjoy the city though as much as I am building it. I have a LOT of map to cover still and think it will look great in the end..... So without further rambling..... picture time!!! I will be taking more street level shots and pictures of specific neighborhoods later on. I'll also do a road map (I know you will ask!) and some other maps to show current and planned areas.
  14. Marinora City

This has become a terrific CJ. Honestly, when you first started out and I saw a lot of repetitious buildings everywhere I wasn't sure how it was going to work. I was wrong though and always look forward to seeing more! It's, from my perspective, an interesting mix of American and European building styles. Keep up the great work!
  15. City of Dickson

Just wanted everyone to know I am retiring Dickson. It's taking far more time to redesign the city than I intended and have already started a new city on a new map. Dickson was great for my first city ever built, but glaring flaws leave it sorely lacking in areas that I think are very important for realism. Thank you all for every comment left and all of the support for it. Please be looking for my newest city - based loosely on the real world Nashville, TN (since I know it like the back of my hand and can use it as a good reference). Admins, please lock this thread. Thanks! Jay
