Right After...

image2-10.jpg
The camp bustled calmly as militants walked around. What were they doing though? Waiting? Lounging? Preparing for something? Winters watched on from the cover of the cliffside behind several rocks, his rifle right next to him. He didn't want to use it, but he knew he might have to, to get the job done. But one thing he did know, they had to either disable, or destroy that tower, whatever it was.

A minute or so later, Private Devern arrived back, quite stealthly too for Winters had no idea he was being approached before Devern moved her agile body right up next to his and whispered to him through her helmet.

marine.jpgPvt. Devern: I was able to make contact with base, they've labeled that tower thing as a jammer of some sort, blocked our comms and satellite feed. They want us to destroy it.

specops.jpgCommander Winters: Any mention of the back-up teams?

Devern shook her head and tilted her head in a motion out over the camp ahead of them.

marine.jpgPvt. Devern: No, they don't want to risk it. However a SuperFalcon is going to make a pass here pretty soon to get their attention, perhaps draw most of them out of the camp.

Winters thought this over. A SuperFalcon was Follomer next-gen design, barely been released into full service yet. He had no idea why the military would risk flying a brand new jet over a militant camp, but then again he didn't see any AA guns down there. Perhaps this diversion would work.

Winters put his finger on his team-comms and keyed it open.

specops.jpgCommander Winters: You all hear that?

Several 'yessirs' sounded in his ear in a stoic tone. He looked at Devern and nodded before continuing to sit there, waiting. Almost on cue though, he could the screaming of jet engines.

It was a SuperFalcon alright, thought winters as it raced overhead. To his delight, yells and shouts started to come from the camp, and then a minute later, a large explosion sounded off in the distance. That caught Winters off guard and didn't know what had happened, until a very large group of the militants began to run toward where the explosion came from. To his amazement, almost more than half the camp was now empty, and only a few stayed behind. This was Winters chance. He keyed his comms.

specops.jpgCommander Winters: Go! Go!

Both teams suddenly lunged from their covers and ran to the edges of the cliff and skidded down the faces. Winters raised his scoped rifle and took aim at the nearest militant who didn't leave.

Heand Devern took their grapplers and placed them on the rock infront of them, which the surface of their grapplers seemed to embed themselves into the stone instantly. They hooked ropes and then repelled down.

The black figured Specs ran through the tents one by one, trying to stay out of sight, however when found trapped by a militant, silenced their shots and took them down easily. They all made their way through the camp toward the tower.

Three stayed with Winters while the other two sweeped the camp for any stragglers. Winters moved to the tower and took out two large explosives from his pack and placed them on the base of the tower. As doing so, he remembered an old Red Alert game he used to play as a kid and began to smile while setting the fuses. He finished and took the detonator in hand. As he began to move, his team followed into the woods, their escape route.

When they were clear enough into the woods, Winters turned toward his team and lowered his hand over and over, giving them the signal to get down. He then brought up the detonator and grinned.

specops.jpgCommander Winters: I've got a present for yah.

*Boom!*

The ground shook as the tower erupted in a combonation of flame and twisted metal as it flew in all directions.

The comms suddenly began to crack, and then he heard a voice.

Trellian: --mmander Winters, report!

specops.jpgCommander Winters: Captain sir, we're here. We've nuetralized the militant jammer emplacement. But no time to talk! That explosion would have alerted them back to us.

Trellian: Affirmative, we have eyes on your position, confirmed large group of hostiles closing in on your position. Reccommend head into the woods to your west, an escape bird will meet you there, out.

Winters looked to his men and women and started to run west through the thick forest. The rest of them followed as he keyed his comm.

specops.jpgCommander Winters: 2nd squad, rendevous on our position, west of the camp!

A 'roger' came through the comm and he was off, running through the woods, dodging trees and brush.

As they ran, the rest of the team linked up with Winters. All six had survived the raid, and now they had to escape the area. They continued to run, worried that the woods would never end and there would be no place for the bird to touch down. But their prayers were answered when the woods began to thin.

The trees began to lessen, and they could hear the thump thump thump of rotor blades, a welcoming sound.

image8-2.jpg

All six of them ran to the chopper and boarded it, one by one. Winters was last on board and then gave the order for the pilot to take off. The rotors spun faster, and the helicopter lifted into the air.

They escaped, as minutes later a large group of militant soldiers arrived in the clearing, just missing Winters and his team. The mission was a complete success, but Winters knew this wouldn't be over, not by a long shot.

Is Commander Winters is some guy in COD:MW2 for Shadow Company?

Anyway, it gives me inspiration to update my current CJ.
