                      (Re) Bridging Everglade Island

Bonnie Bridge is the oldest bridge in Everglade. Built almost when the region was first settaled as a means for workers to

get to their farms, you could probably guess that it is VERY worn out. Bonnie bridge had its wood paved over with asfault when it was neccesary, but now the bridge is too old to continue service. So it must be replaced.

The (crudly3.gif) drawn plans are where the new bridge will go. Bonnie bridge must stay up during the construction of the new bridge,

in order to ensure Everglade Island Citicens could still get to work.

The necesary buildings were soon demolished to make room for the new bridge, and the residents were given a decent price for

their old homes.

And then the new bridge was soon completed! The bridge was named, "Claide Bridge", and should provide to be a reliable bridge for

years to come.

The "Bonnie Bridge" has yet to be dicided its fate. The city council has come up with 2 proposals for the bridge either it gets demolished,

or it is deemed a historical Landmark and reside as the Bonnie and Claide Bridges for tourists to gawk at through the decades to come.

(The city council is also open to alternate proposals)

So... The concil is leaving the citicens (YOU) up to the fate of the Bonnie Bridge.

Should It...

1.Be demolished?

2.Be deemed a historical Landmark?

3.Other (Explain)

(I apologize for the short update today, I thought I had more pictures.)

Wow! I have a vote!

Keep it as a historical landmark and deem it a pedestrian bridge! The healthy crowd walking to the Farmer's Market will appreciate the rustic throwback from the olden days to get them in the fresh food spirit!

P.S., good CJ!

Mostly when I upgrade bridges I incorporate the old one into the new bridge network.
No point spending more money demolishing it when it can serve as an alternative when the new one is conjested with an accident or whatever... you've spent the money building it, keep until it's in the way.

In one case in central Boston (Khole Inlet) I kept a street bridge alongside a road bridge all the way up until I needed an avenue bridge, and then I took the street bridge down and replaced it with the avenue bridge, so that it still to this day has the road bridge beside it... same principle.

That's my idea - take it or leave it.

I like where you're going with this CJ.

"Bonnie bridge had its wood paved over with asfault when it was neccesary, but now the bridge is too old to continue service." Keeping both bridges in service doesnt seem a viable option.

I think it should be kept as a pedestrian crossing and fishing vantage point. See: Hornibrook Bridge in Brisbane Australia. (2nd longest bridge in Australia, next to the longest)

The choice here seems clear. Keep the bridge it doesn't bring any benefits to demolish it so...
Keep it a pedestrian crossing, as tomyzor said. It is a nice idea.

I say keep the bridge..and just a suggestion..to make your downtown area more realistic, i think more grided streets should be neccesary, and then slowly fade out..like in real life. You could make it a downtown re-development project or something. Just a suggestion. Kep up the good work!!
