The Hope of Gotham

Stage 1 of my Gotham City project is almost complete! My hope is to build the city as a real-world megacity would evolve throughout time.

From 1635, farms spread on the islands and coasts around Gotham, laying the network of dirt roads that will one day become the mean streets of this crime-ridden city.633c93b1d7052_ScreenShot2022-10-04at12_38_45PM.png.138320b25080c626e68af95889e9aef2.png

GOTHAM in the 1700s.

Stage 1 will be complete at the end of the 18th century, or approximately 155 in game years. The first factory in America was built in 1790, and that's when I'll introduce dirty industry on a large scale and watch the population skyrocket!

Stage 2 will be from the 1800s to the beginning of the 20th century. A sprawl of only medium-density Victorian architecture and large factories will dominate the landscape. During this stage, I will also endeavor to build all along the ports of Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown the historic harbor created by the Simtropolis member of the same name.

The inspirations for this are "Gotham By Gaslight" and "Gates of Gotham".gotham-daylight-mignola-1075260.jpeg.576e6a8f50e37f3679ce71cfa5b51468.jpeg

This will be where I focus on creating the slums and conditions where widespread crime will fester.

Stay tuned for the outcome of Stage 2 and then, the final stage, which will consist of art deco architecture and endless skyscrapers.

This looks like such an interesting project. I'm impresed that you are able to keep all the parts of the city in the same state of development. 'Crime ridden' sounds fun to do. I look forward to your updates!

Thank you, kkffoo! I'll post another update soon, but I have a feeling the process of Stage 2 with the industrial revolution in the 19th century will probably be a slow one.

Good luck! This might be a good idea and an exciting possibility. Just make sure to keep your crime levels high. *:thumb:

Thanks, TheMurderousCricket! I'll try to keep the crime levels high, but it's actually pretty hard at times. Any suggestions?

I try to do everything I can to allow crime to thrive (little to no education, large lot sizes, high garbage levels, low mayor rating, under-funded police, or no police at all) but sometimes there are still too many good SIM-aritans in my cities.

My first goal of this CJ project is high crime levels. Because you can't have Gotham without rampant crime and corruption!
