Just upriver from Addiesburg is a sharp bend in the river, which helps to dissipate tidal forces and makes several large pools and inlets for harbors.
The Approaches is full of ships.
So much so, that as time went on, I ripped a few out for aesthetic reasons.
Being the first major inland city, it's transit in each direction is significant.
I believe it may have more rail, freeway, and monorail lines transiting from other regions than any other city in the region.
This city started life as the "ugly" city...heavy industrial and lots of harbors...but as time went on, the education level rose, and the industrial became an endless sea of high tech buildings that get very repetitive.
So I transitioned the city to a more generalized urban center.
In fact, the entire commercial center (framed in by freeways and avenues in the picture above) was a polluted pit for most of the city's life.
