Today, we're taking a trip to the American Southwest - an area of the United States well known for it's iconic natural landmarks and beautiful landscapes. With plenty of famous scenes from all around the region, we have quite the epic trip planned for today's update.

Spoiler

We'll begin in Albuquerque, New Mexico where the yearly International Balloon Fiesta each October turns the whole area into a magical moving show of hot air balloons.

After our brief stay in Albuquerque, we head west across the Arizona and into Canyon de Chelly National Monument, a vast park in the northeastern part of the state on Navajo tribal lands. The rock formations here are truly stunning.

Our next destination will be another one of Arizona's most unique rock formations, The Wave. Located on the state's northern border with Utah, this small area inside of the Coyote Buttes North region is famous for its orange and white swirls of sandstone.

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument can be found in on Arizona's extreme southern border near Mexico and is the only place in the United States where the organ pipe cactus grows wild.

The Barringer Meteor Crater is another one of Arizona's best known natural landmarks. 49,000 years ago, a large 40 meter diameter iron asteroid impacted the Colorado Plateau in northern Arizona - resulting in a massive explosion that excavated 175 million tons of rock, forming a crater nearly a mile wide and 570 feet deep.

Our next stop needs no introduction - located in the state's northwest corner, the majestic Grand Canyon is one of the world's most awe-inspiring natural wonders.

For our last couple of sights, we're heading into Utah and into iconic Zion National Park. This park is home to some of the world's most unique rock patterns - distinctive, sandstone formations, eroded by wind and water, can be seen in many places across Zion. The famous Virgin River cuts through the heart of Zion and is especially spectacular in autumn.

Our last scene will be one of the Southwest's most iconic and breathtaking sights - Zion's Observation Point overlook.

It's too much!
It's hard to tell how much of this is real.
Some of the images could be mistaken for dioramas...
