THIRD TOURNAMENT (T3)

- There was only one submission for the 2nd tournament, so congratulations to

Lordyboy96 for his entry below!!!

T2Entry_zpscf39e6d6.jpg

- Also, Lordyboy96 has chosen the criteria for the next tournament, and hopes that it will be as accessible for everyone as possible.

- In addition, I created an entry for the last tournament but chose not to enter it for various reasons. I will show it later in another CJ of mine.

- Ok, now on to the next tournament!

- If you are unfamiliar with the rules, please click

here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CRITERIA FOR TOURNAMENT 3 (T3):

"Rail-Themed"

- Entry MUST contain the use of the Perry Station, which can be found

You may only use it once in your entry.

- Entry must be 1024x768 pixels, and the menu minimize button must not be visible. If need be, you must crop your photo to match this resolution. You may NOT enlarge a photo to this resolution. If you do, it will not be accepted.

- Entry must be taken from Zoom Level 4, and daytime scenes only.

- NO photo-manipulation effects or lot editing by the player.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY:

- PM me (spursrule14) a link to your image. Do not send it as an attachment. That is all that is required. If it does not meet the criteria, or will not be accepted for some other reason, I will message you and let you know why.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

- 6/12/13 @ 11:59 PM CST

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS:

- Post them here in the comments section, and I will respond here. Others are free to respond to questions or comment about anything else related to this competition.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Here is the Perry Station link (wrong link above)

I think the requirements are much more inviting this time - although I don't understand the no lot editing.  Isn't pretty much every custom BAT edited in the LE?

Thanks for catching the wrong link, I've fixed it now. Also, the no lot editing means the player should keep all lots as how they came either from Maxis or from downloading on the STEX, etc.

Congratz Lordy  (for what it's worth. lol)

That station is way too old. I will use a more modern one.

I believe the criteria for T3, IS to use the Perry Station, or it won't be accepted as an entry. Remember, you have to stick to the criteria set by the prior contest winner. What Lordy requested, is what needs to be in the image.

I'd say I'm going to enter...but my schedule has been sporadic recently. :P

I like the photo resolution, a bit challenging for me because I have a lot of cropping to do, but maybe my choice wasn't the best choice ever.

Oh well, either way, looking forward to some more entries.. rail always seems to turn up nicely. :)

Edit: Nice work to Lordyboy, that looks amazing!

There's nothing wrong with it.

- NO photo-manipulation effects or lot editing.

You've got to be kidding me. As simcoug said, pretty much every single piece of custom content in the game other than an MMP has to be run through the lot editor at some point.  Do you really want a vanilla pic with a single custom station?

The fact that  there's only been one submission each for the first two 'tournaments' should be a big red flag that something is wrong here with the criteria.

The 'No lot editing' bit means that you can't go away and make your own lot (or edit something already in existance), however things downloaded from the Stex/ any other custom content site are fine. I only decided on that to level the playing field, since otherwise non-batters/editors could be placed at a disadvantage to those who know how to (who could take the trouble to make their own lots purely for this tournament).

Tl;dw: Basically, the 'no lot editing', just means you can't use stuff that only you own/ can download, so Stex content ect. is fine :)

@blunder - I already answered what is meant by no lot editing, and I'm sorry that you have misunderstood what was meant by that, but yours or others' misunderstanding does not mean that something is wrong with the criteria.

Saying that you cannot use lot editing to edit someone else's pre-created lots actually makes it easier for people who might want to enter that are not experienced with the lot editor, or do not have to worry about losing to someone who has made use of the lot editor to enhance the quality of their entry.

I don't think you can get much simpler and accessible than this current criteria. Like I have said before, some people will always be against the criteria, no matter what. And while the current tournament may seem simple, for me it would/will be a challenge to make something and NOT get to use photoshop or the lot editor  :)

But to make sure that everything is as clear for people who have not yet read the current criteria, I will change the wording above so that people will hopefully not be wondering the same thing.

The criteria is much more inviting this time. I also like the Zoom Level 4 requirement and the resolution (fits my screen perfectly). Good job on the last one Lordy :)

Besides what others have said about the criteria, you also have to remember that this game is 10+ years old. The bulk of players have come and gone now, so to start this contest now, of course it's going to be a bit slow. If you build it....they will come.. (When's the last time you've heard that  quote.lol)

Since there is a resurgence of players due to SC'13, just give those players some time to catch up on SC4 and you'll see more entries being submitted....as long as the criteria isn't too difficult for the "average" player. Hence the no custom batting. Levels the playing field a bit. Bet you'll see a few more submission for this current round.

Too bad there's only been one submission for each of the two rounds so far. On the bright side, they have both been fantastic!

Exactly, criteria is too strict.

This sounds awesome.

Also, and sorry if this is a bit ADHD-y, but what font did you use for the title?

Thanks!

I'm on exam period at the moment and finish the day before the entry's close for this. If I finish in time I'll post a submission otherwise I'll take part in T4.
