Thank you all for the great comments, you definitely help keep New SorGun going.

MTT9: Great update as usual! Love those overviews :) Hope you keep that far-angled-MMP-trail once you upgrade to roads and avenues.

Good eye. Yes, there is a bit of a slope that it runs along, and it should work well as a FAR street someday :)

Vlasky: I like it. Already see the outlines of future boroughs. But I just want to remind you that there were some of the grids applied later, meaning you don't have to worry from the start about the layout of the streets :) A plan of urbanization can be applied at some point :)

For many developing towns, I think you are correct. But western frontier towns, especially ones in the Pacific Northwest developed their street layouts quite quickly. Land owners had incentive to grade and develop the road network so they could sell their lots and make some money. Here is an example of what Tacoma WA looked like in 1884 – you can see that the road grid was very well developed despite a paucity of houses along the streets.

ggamgus: LOL, NAM engineers. :P Great census! :D Can't wait for the 1910s, when the children in these towns grow, and enlist in the military to go fight in Europe. :P

Yes, the 20th century will bring plenty of turmoil to this little region (and the rest of the world as well).

Forthwall: Change has come, I can see it on the trains the roads, and soon the planes ;) I wonder when they will start to pave their inner city roads.

Not to worry, paved brick streets are in the works :)

vinlabsc3k: Good shots!! Your dedication to place MMP is always a "jaw-dropping" pleasure. A little suggestion: plop some carriage or wagon, if you have them, along the streets to make the scene more lively. ;)

I wish I could plop MMPs along the streets, but unfortunately transportation networks do not allow the placement of MMPs. I could delve into T21 modding (like some roadside mods) but I am stretched for time enough as it is. Maybe someday.

Outstanding Comment Winner!

Bluthlucidity: Congratulations on your Trixies, they're much deserved! I'm looking forward to the rest of the 1880 census storyline and seeing how much the other communities have grown. Porthaven is going to boom for the next decade or so, it'll be interesting to see what comes of that. I wonder which city will be the first to have paved roads, Steamer Bay or New SorGun? And when can we expect to see some overwrought Beaux Arts city halls? The City Beautiful movement will be gaining popularity in a decade or so, just in time to be a major influence on the growing towns of the region.

I like how you broke the fourth wall, so to speak, by mentioning the NAM team. It was cheeky but also a little bit creepy, like Inception creepy. I also noticed the city shot of Steamer Bay (third last picture) is incomplete; I can't spot the big Victorian mansion from earlier in the post. Keep up the good work :)

Wow! Great comment! In fact, you have given me a new idea. Any future outstanding comments will be eligible for the New SorGun Outstanding Comment (NSOC) award.

Outstanding comments will be judged entirely by me, but they could be: insightful, informative, entertaining, humorous, thought provoking, witty, or creative (just to name a few adjectives) Winners will be eligible to create a character that will become a part of the New SorGun story. So, congrats Bluthlucidity – I will PM you with the details.

Now, back to the comment. I agree, the late 19th and early 20th century was an interesting time in terms of city development and style. I hope I can convey the changes with some historical accuracy given the BATs available. And yes, you have an exceptionally keen eye. That house did exist, but I made a dumb mistake and forgot to change the prop exemplar. Long story short, I had to demolish the lot (and make some fixes in Reader) and I tried to get it to re-grow in the same spot but the simulator had other plans, so I gave up (not thinking anybody would catch that it was missing in the zoomed out view). But you caught me, so congrats on being the first Outstanding Comment winner :)

Superbacon: Really can't wait to see what kind of boom airports will bring in 30 or 40 years.

Yes, the automobile and airplanes will drive many changes in the coming decades. Now I just have to figure out how to make an airport…

Up next... Part 2 of the 1880 Census.

While Steamer Bay has had a bit of bad luck, Porthaven is on a hot streak. Join Mr. Stevens and his crew...

That's a great shot!

Those train wagons look pretty interesting, I don't think I've seen them before.

Also, where did you get those rocks in the stream? I could find a use or two for them.

NOB created the train automata mod. You can find the mod HERE.

I would suggest using Google translate to navigate the page...  the download you need is called: SL + nearly breaks KUMOHA

It can be found near the top of the page in the right column (first section). Just click the little green button with the down arrow.

The surrounding area is just perfect, nice job as always. And that train is 4-4-0 Eight Wheeler, right?

I want to ask another question too, what will the mod does to the original train? Replace the original one or only as an additional train?

Thanks for this! Definitely downloading for my next region.

I just love the image of the train by the stream, very picturesque.

I know that the MMPs aren't placeable on networks, :whatevs: but I've intended to make a TE Lot with wagons props. ;)
Anyway, I'm waiting for the 2nd part of Census!! :thumb:
