A Tribute

As we all know, today a gunman entered an elementary school in Connecticut and killed 26 people. There is no rational explanation for this; it is simply an act of evil. It is a tragedy that so many lives have been lost and so many families devastated by malice beyond my comprehension. As someone who works in a school, this latest incident resonates very much with me. You can’t do what I do as a job; it’s personal. We don’t just give knowledge; we give ourselves. And regardless of whence they come, we take care of and care for all of our kids. And when things like this happen, regardless of how far away the place is, it feels very close to home. And I think of my own school and the many people who are special and important there. So I have this small tribute for those who were lost in this tragedy.

EDIT: This picture has been circulating on Facebook and I think it's a great addition. When I first made this, I did not know who the victims were. But now we do. And THEIR names are the ones the media should make sure we don't forget.

RIP for they who killed in Newton, Connecticut, USA. May god bless and strengthen the victim's family.

Though myself is not a teacher nor American, I think anyone who act like that should be punished (if the killer is still alive) and there should be a better regulation for guns using. I think there just not enough reason to keep guns can be owned by everyone. There should be some limitation for peoples so it can't be easily owned by bad guys. As long as mad peoples can have a gun, more tragedies and unnecessary deaths might happen in nearby future (Still, I hope such thing will not happened again).

At least, if they want to commit suicide, don't force someone else to go with them. 28 deaths is many and the most sadly thing of this tragedy, most of them are kids.

A tragedy that had hurt millions, as Americans feel they can go no where to be safe. But as it was a tragedy, we must go on, for to complete what the deceased had wanted. Peace.

Touching tribute.

Very sad that there is so much evil and (possibly in this case) poorly treated mental illness in the world.

So many bright futures stolen.. all because of a maniac with weapons..

My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and let us hope another tragedy never happens like this again..

I understand your feeling quite well. I think that it is difficult for normal people to imagine something like this happening because it would not even enter into our minds that it is possible. That is good because we are not monsters, but terrible, because it makes the monsters difficult or impossible to prevent or stop.

It's odd how these things happen. The family was a great one, and Adam was top of his class in middle and high school. The only weird thing was that his mother enjoyed collecting guns. But when a parental divorce occurs, everything goes wrong for that kid. Add in the fact that he was isolated from the rest of the students because of his intellectual capabilities, and you get your monster.

And yet the nation thinks that it's either the fault of violent video games or some sort of psychopathic problem.

What America doesn't understand is that bad parenting and poor gun laws are the primary cause of its troubles.
