Richmore
In this visit, we will stop by the small town of Richmore.
Tucked away in the rolling forests of Hawkins county, Richmore is a sleepy town of only 3500, making it a tier 5 city on the Urbanized Areas Index, or UAI. Richmore has seen slight growth in the past 20 years increasing in population from 3100 in the 2000 census. Most of the population work in or around Richmore but there are a few who commute to some of the larger nearby cities to work.
The town lies along Highway 52 and is the only town for several miles in either direction. In fact, surrounded by farms and forest, it is the only incorporated place in Hawkins county.
Richmore's 5 largest employers:
Calltech - 125
Richmore School District - 97
Piggly Wiggly - 45
City of Richmore - 31
Overnight Trucking - 24
Without further ado, let us explore lovely Richmore.
Our first look is an overview of Richmore.

Here is the only stoplight in town. It is at the intersection of Highway 52 and State Route 24, both main ways of travel in the region as well as into and out of Richmore. Highway 52 is the priority road as it is the larger of the two in the area and the main commercial strip through town.

Most businesses are located along Highway 52 (marked as Main St. through town)in an area the locals refer to as just "the strip".

Just off of the strip and along State Route 24 is the city's main park, Balmer Park. Named after James Balmer, a local business man who donated the land for use as a park back in 1928.

Here we see some of the residential areas of Richmore.

Richmore has three schools serving elementary, primary and secondary education. The school mascot for the district is the grasshopper with the teams known as the Richmore Hoppers, who have made it to the state championships the past 6 seasons in a row.
Richmore Elementary serves students grades K-5th grade.

Richmore Junior High serves students grades 6-8.

And Richmore High School serves students grades 9-12.

Richmore is also served by a public library which helps the population keep themselves well read and informed. It also serves as the meeting place for the town council which holds meetings in the library's conference room.

Richmore is also home to the Sleepy Pines Resort and Spa. It provides peace and relaxation for locals and tourists and offers overnight accommodations in the main lodge or in cabins on the property.

Here you can see some of the farms surrounding Richmore.

And here we see Highway 52 as it leads out of town to the east.

And now we will leave off with some night shots of Richmore, thanks for stopping in!
