Entering Scott Bluff

15. Entering Scott Bluff
Area: Crater Lake
Tile: Scott Bluff
Welcome back everyone; it's update time again. I was debating what to show for this update-more of Treemyst Creek? the farms at Double Hills?-but I decided to jump up to Crater Lake, since I just finished up most of this tile (just some flora still to do in the middle).
This tile is called Scott Bluff because it adjoins the peak to the south-Mt. Scott. I consider it one of my finest nature tiles, possibly even better than the tile in Rip City that held the Powell Geyser Field and Powell Cinder Cone. Enjoy.
As is always true, click for full res.
1. The road entering Scott Bluff from Mt. Scott.

2. Looking downhill, rock trails appear where it drains off when it rains. We're at the top of the hills here and well above the water table, so there isn't a permanent stream this high.

3. Trees in the alpine areas are scraggly little things, with much of the terrain taken up by small and low vegatation. The fierce erosion of the area ensures that rocks are visible almost everywhere.

4. Some outlying houses and farms right outside the town of Scott Bluff.

5. The many wildflowers surrounding peoples' houses.

6. Although some places are more a rock garden than a flower garden.

7. Entering the town proper of Scott Bluff.

8. The 'town' of Scott Bluff. It has exaclty one traffic light. A popular past-time of the townsfolk is to get desert at Cold Stone and sit there and eat desert at 10pm, when the traffic light changes from standard mode to blinking red mode. It beats cow tipping. Barely.

9. Turning left at the intersection takes you around the west side of Crater Lake.

10. Turning right takes us around the east side.

11. Staying straight and going down the little street takes us to a viewpoint...

12. Where we can look down on Crater Lake from the edge of town.

13. It's a long ways down...

14. ...to the shoreline below.

15. And finally another overview of the town.

That's all for today. Next time we'll explore more of the tile.

If you want to see this actual area in Google Maps/Earth, copy paste these coordinates: 42.92771, -122.0540 and drop them HERE.
Don't forget that I lowered the elevation of Crater Lake when I made my map, so it has a different style of vegetation than you will see in reality.

@emperordaniel, gugu3, pielover94: Thank you all very much. ![]()
@escilnavia: Thanks but the skill is more in the hands of the maker of the terrain mod. Although you probably have seen blank terrain that complements well in other CJ's, like Marsh's use of the TSC Pyrraen in Sandalwood.
@k50dude: Thank you although there's really not a whole lot to it. I'm sure you can do just as good if you apply yourself. ![]()
@111222333444, grstudios: The radio tower is from the LEX I believe, try searching there.
@Zulu2065: Thank you, sir. I am definitely enjoying using the seasonal flora these days. ![]()
@NMUSpidey: It is indeed terrifying. It's probably the same one you saw before; its a year or so old. If you're up at 1600 feet and can see the curvature of the earth, you're way too damn high. If you're that high and only have a hand hook tied to you for safety, you're not getting payed enough lol. ![]()
