UPDATE 33:

TOURING SIMCOE - PART ONE

windemeremainbannerdece.jpg

New month, new banner! This one is slightly less bulky. Hope you like it!

REPLIES ARE DONE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF EACH UPDATE! :)

Welcome to Simcoe, the latest new town we are exploring in Windemere! Near the current regional border, Simcoe is more of an open, airy town. With large lot sizes (and expansive parking lots :P) the town is much less "condensed" than others. In the first part of our initial tour we will take a look at some local landmarks and get a general feel for Simcoe. So sit back and chillax as we begin our exploration of Simcoe!

As we approach the highway exit, we notice development doesn't hound the highway. Although development reaches the interchange, there is also alot of open space surrounding it. Also visible is the edge of the Simcoe train station, which we will look at in a later update.

Here we can see a large-format Walmart Supercentre. It's supermarket side is one of 2 grocery stores in Simcoe. You can also notice the large lot sizes mentioned, typically 2x4 tiles. Residents often appreciate the large amount of space between them and their neighbours.

Just to the south of Walmart (right in the picture above) we have a look at a quaint street. Large trees, large lots and walking trails treat the residents of Simcoe to 'the good life.'

At a busy intersection we see this plaza. Home to Kroger - Simcoe's other grocery store - and other various stores, it is a well frequented plaza. Many small, local businesses have taken up rent in addition to major national chains.

update33simcoe4.jpg

Here we have another residential neighbourhood. You will notice the large cluster of trees. Not all of the trees in Windemere are steamrolled, as evident in this picture.

Sears and Kohl's (and Tim Hortons as well) have set-up shop in Simcoe. This is one of the busiest Sears stores in the region. Kohl's is also a popular destination for the many families of Simcoe.

We finish part 1 of our tour of Simcoe with this office complexe. This is the headquarters of Simple Communications, Inc. Simple Communications offers home phone, cell phone, internet and satellite television to the residents of Windemere and vast stretches onwards. (It was actually formerly called Windemere Telecommunications, Corp.) The company is currently rolling out a new fiber-optic network in the region for television and internet, starting here in Simcoe.

And so we have come to the end of another Windemere update. In part 2 of our Simcoe tour we will be looking at some other local landmarks, parks and new developments. Until then I hope you've enjoyed today's update and are looking forward to more!

I'm really loving this city journal! It's given me so many ideas to test out and try myself. A couple of questions:

1) Where did you get the parking lot lots that you use in many of your commercial areas? Are those growing in automatically or are they ploppable structures?

2) Are you growing all of your commercial establishments (Sears, Khol's, etc) or are they also ploppable structures?

Hello, thanks for stopping by! I'm glad I've been able to give you a few ideas. The answers to your questions:
1. The parking lots are plopped, and are available here.
2. Those stores like Kohl's and Sears are also plopped. They are from Simgoober. You can find his uploads here.

Hope I was able to help and thanks for stopping by!
