Update 32: Development and Infrastructure Improvement in Eastburg
UPDATE 32:
DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT IN EASTBURG

REPLIES:
REPLIES ARE DONE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF EACH UPDATE. ![]()

Taking a detour from mamoth-sized developments, we are off to Eastburg today to have a look at some ongoing projects there. Included are the 2 new projects announced in update 25 which have made humble progress. But of course, there is always something new brewing in Windemere. As part of the recent transit/infrastructure improvement plan some station redevelopment is now underway. Onwards we go to take a peek!
In this first picture we see some of the new condominium buildings being constructed in Eastburg. They are smaller than other s constructed previously in the town. However, the future planned community this is a part of calls for larger condominums elsewhere in the future.

Progress is also being made in downtown Eastburg. 1 of to new office towers has been constructed at the site of the former Shoppers grocery store. Behind the 2 new office buildings is a proposal for residential condominiums. Nearby residents are not extactic about that proposal...

At the Eastburg train station construction has recently started on improvements. A new subway station is being constructed as the line now passes directly below. (That is a result of the expansion of subway service to Macoe.) The parking lot will also be replaced with a multi-level parking garage.

Meanwhile, at the existing Eastburg subway station, work is underway as reconstructing the station. A design simmilar to the Macoe subway station will be used. Eastburg is taking this opportunity to widen the road to 4 lanes through to the roundabout intersection. It currently narrows to 2 lanes just north (up) of this picture. During rush-hour this road becomes a parking lot...

Although this intersection design was practical when it first opened, it was never designed to handle the current levels of traffic. Road engineers from both Eastburg and the region are currently drafting a new design. It may require some property expropriation and clear-cutting of trees, but nothing is concrete at this time.

That's all for today. As always, I hope you've enjoyed and are looking forward to more!
