These are awesome seaports, ppl. Thanks for sharing!

Here's mine. It's currently being redeveloped into a high density residential and commercial zone. But this is what it looked like before I started redeveloping.

Port

"Whether it be the sweeping eagle in his flight, or the open apple-blossom, the toiling work-horse, the blithe swan, the branching oak, the winding stream at its base, the drifting clouds, over all the coursing sun, form ever follows function, and this is the law."

—Louis H. Sullivan, "The tall office building artistically considered." Lippincott's Magazine, March 1896.

Great seaports! I tend to make my seaports massive. Sometimes I think I go a little over the top with them!

Here's a container Island I made for my upcoming new CJ:

NewCityContainerislandentire.jpg

I didn't realise when I made the container lots that the props wouldn't show up at this zoom and in the region view. As a result it looks a bit bare!

Well this one is seriously behind all of yours (Mainly due to lack of custom content), But its been my only atempt so far and was build to give reason for the industrial sprawl at the top of the cliff. I think it looks best by night....

Jayster:

Looks good!

I really like the detailing of the oil terminals

Retep Molinari:

PEG's container seaport replaces the Maxis seaport. I don't know if it was wise to install PEG's stuff before having bulldozed all Maxis seaports, but apparently it works now.

I advise you to read the readme files very carefully before you mess around with seaports in your plugins, because a small mistake can ruin your cities forever.

Diamonddog_74:

A very nice dense industrial look. Show us more!

Psander5:

Beautiful containerport. But it is a bit uniform in containers and cranes? Maybe you could use several cranes like the ones by Soulstealer (STEX) and Tag_One (SC4devotion.com).

Hey, this looks really good!

There is a nice realistic scale in the port and, as far as I can see, good railway usage.

Show us some details!

Hey and thanks.

I'll try to make some more detailed pictures, if I'm ready to save this city. I don't know how and why, but my game crashed on my region. I made an new in-gameregion and I will try to import my port-city! I hope it works.

Heres mine, the Port of Deubon. Its relatively small given that its the biggest seaport in the region, however the region is small as well. The Port of Deubon mainly handles container cargo, but also has a break-bulk sector. As you can see, I like to use PEG's stuff a lot;

I used to think I was a good port builder. After seeing these, Ive realized Im way behind. Now that Ive got SOMY's port set and a ton of CDK material, Im off to blow up the port of Acadia and redo it on a massive scale. Ill put up pics when its done.

Hey great seaports everyone!

Here is a small port I made in my capital Banku Taou' for my CJ. Most of It is built on reclaimed land.

The port was built mainly as an industrial free zone rather than the main port of the nation.

I've been following this for a while so I suppose its time to throw my hat in the ring.

This is the Port of Acadia, by far the largest seaport I have ever attempted. This place is huge, taking up most of a large city tile:

Some container docks:

More containers:

Bulk cargo loading:

A large LNG facility:

I hope y'all enjoy.

Wow guys!

What a lot of good work has been added.

Sky Guy: Beautiful, but some pats are a bit too empty maybe? You could add some stuff like cars, containers, boxes, storages of diverse kind, rubbish and the like?

Trainguy4449: You really haven't been idle since your post in july. Wow, what an amazingly large port.

But not only large, it also looks convincing. The only downside maybe: in my opinion the LNG facility, including the refinerystuff, is maybe a bit too large. Perhaps you could separate some parts of these facilities and place them a bit further away. When I look at seaports I always see a lot of unused space, just grass...

CTmandr: Oh, very nice port! Maybe a bit too straightforward. Real ports are always more mixes and matches of several kinds of buildings. Maybe you just blow up some parts and throw in some other facilities?

Hey, since this seems like a good place about seaports, would anyone mind answering a simple question? How do you place seawalls? When I place one, all I get is a little flat concrete thing with a fence, and I can't place it near water since it says "Cannot build on water". Do you need like a perfectly straight seashore or something? Is there a tutorial?

mythmonster2- yes If you are using a straight piece, you must have a straight coastline. you need to turn it so the fence is facing water, then place it on the closest tile to the water. hope that will help you!

If you need any extra help, mythmonster2, look at this tutorial. It helped me a ton and it's easy to follow.

And while I'm posting, trainguy4449, your port looks amazing! I'm sure you'll hear that a lot, but seriously, I can tell you put a lot of effort into it! Nice work!

Quick & simple question: Where can I find some good seaport lots? Especially those blue cranes... thanks in advance!

Those blue cranes come from two different sets. The light blue are from soulstealer's Port Realism Pack, and the dark blue come from PEG CDK3-SP. Both are on the STEX.

UPDATE: This tutorial not only has great tips on port building, but has links to just about every port pack out there:

Nice, I like the big seawalls there. But IMHO, it will be hard to a container boat to goes from the exit canal to the left part with the crane, and vice-versa when the boat wants to exit, it will be hard to turn with that little space ! 9.gif

All the seaports are amazing but are any of them functional?  I'd love to build seaports like those but I kinda think that its a waste if it isnt gona do anything except for look cool and take up space.
