LONDON (Reuters) - Up to a third of telephone users in Britain make calls in the nude, with men more prone to do it without clothes than women, a survey revealed on Thursday.

Research commissioned by Britain's Post Office, which offers a fledgling home phone service, revealed that 40 percent of men admitted to nattering naked compared with 27 percent of women. The results were based on a survey of 1,500 telephone users.

The research also showed that people were so busy that one in 10 people admitted to wandering off and leaving the caller talking to themselves.

I doubt the results are accurate. If presented with a survey like that, I would probably say I make calls in the nude for kicks and giggles.  I'm sure there are at least a few Britons who would vote the same way.

Actually with a statistical population of 1500, and a lot depending how the analysis was done there is a fair chance it is valid. Seeing it was done by Britain's Post Office I would tend to trust it.

Let's see if I recall my stats stuff.  With a sample of 1500, there should be a 97% confidence limit with an error of about 2% plus or minus.

I suppose next I would want to see how they stated their null hypotheses, because if it aint right whats the point. If it checks out (not that I would know if it was bullet proof) I'd have see the chi square and anova table. Then maybe, just maybe . . . . .hahahahahahahaha

In an effort to get this thread back on topic, I'll say that I'm not surprised that Brits make more phone calls in the nude.  In my (admittedly limited) experience, I've found that Brits are more likely than Americans to wander about the house naked.

It's a known fact that a lot of men feel uncomfortable in clothes. Thus, when they're alone at home, they just pull all the blinds and walk around naked. Ever rang someone's doorbell and have them open the door in a bathrobe? That'd be why.

I myself don't generally partake in this, likely because I live with other people, though during the summer I do sometimes sleep naked. It's rare that I'll ever be on the computer naked, though if I'm on late at night, I will sometimes be in my underwear.

I am, however, fully clothed at the moment.
