Some suggestions/requests from Vancouver, BC
(all images link from other web pages)

The Sun Tower - this puppy was the tallest building in the British Empire when built in 1912.
The

Library Square - controversial when built because the people of Vancouver selected it in a referendum despite the negative comments by architectural critics.
Vancouver_Library_Square_July_2004.jpg

The Marine Building - has a beautiful ornate exterior which probably won't show up too well in SC 34.gif
<ahttp://canada.archiseek.com/british_columbia/vancouver/images/marine_building_lge.jpg align=baseline>

BC Place Stadium - IMO a hideously ugly building, but hey, it's a landmark. World's biggest air-supported roof, yadda yadda yadda
<ahttp://www.royaltowers.com/images/vancouver_bc_place.jpg align=baseline><ahttp://www.royaltowers.com/images/bc_place_stadium.gif align=baseline>

Science World - certainly a unique building. I'm not really sure how I feel about it
<ahttp://www.greatervancouverparks.com/IMG_4894.JPG align=baseline>

Oh, and one from where I'm living now...

The Getty Museum in Los Angeles - might be a little tricky because it's perched atop a mountain
align=baseline>

One of these days I'll have the time to figure out how to BAT & I'll probably do some of these myself. Until then, any brave souls want to tackle these?

I'm going to Vancouver in the summer, it's the third time i've been, and i still think it's the best city in the world. there are some spectacular and amazing buildings in Vancouver, so can somebody please make some of them. I might get round to it once my huge new project is complete.

Ok back with some more.

1. A good looking tidal power turbine. You know poeer from the tidal currents rather than waves going up and down.

MarineTurbines.jpg

2. An Underwater SeaLab (like SeaLab 2020, The Abyss or Fathom)
sealab.jpg

3. Underwater Kelp Forests or Coral Reefs.

(Pictures small enough?) c'mon now, you're exagerating from one extreme to the other.

I request a BAT of the Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion, Greece except I would like the field to be football instead of soccer as my redneck city is in desparate need of a football team 2.gif:

What's so stupid about it? There are not many water related items. It would be nice to have more things in the sea.

Glenni, please stop harassing and mocking people who post requests in this thread. That shows some real immaturity.

And by the way, it has indeed already been done. Goldiva recently made some coral reefs, and is about to release them. Besides, corals are not plants- they are actually little organisms that sometimes have plantlike characteristics.

I ment like a lot with some kelp, not plantable kelp. Just like wave power plant. Maybe kelp looking down from an bird eye view or even one with a peir, bouy or boat floating over the kelp. Too bad sea otters are too small but it would be cool seeing some of those floating on top of a forest.

Not true, Glenni. Kelp forests are entirely possible, especially after Gizmo28 made that water plant mod. Also, Glenni, Kelp are not plants either. They are a type of algae that can be classified as protistae. They also have plant characteristics, but, are not classified with the plant kingdom. As for the other part, that is way off topic. But to get to the point, stop harassing people who post requests in THIS thread.

Do i ask for too much? Well probably yes, but one day i will learn to BAT (hopefully).  I do admire the people who spend time making all this stuff, to bring people happiness.  Anyway, it would be nice to see some more old NYC buildings:

The American International Building:

If you would READ i said I ment like a lot with some kelp, not plantable kelp. Just like . wave power plant.

I know the wave power plant was already made. I was the one who requested it to him. And was sudgesting the kelp forest to be just like that in that it had things submerged and floating in the water just like the wave power bouys. Heck i have seen seen ships, submarines and other fully water buildings. In coparason to the wave powered one, beach or seaport which are half in the water and half on the land.

Hey all! I was wondering if with all the talent we obviously have, someone could put together a model of a Culver's restaurant. I'm also looking for a small, compact, simple, realistic looking post office, as well as some good roundabouts. If anyone knows where I can find any of these, or is willing to help out, let me know! Thanks.

I've been informed that the link i gave for concerning the metro in copenhagen, sends you to the site in danish... obviously i gave the wrong link

anyway, in stead, i'll give a few photo's, hopefully, they will be more usefull.

Btw, maybe it has any relevance, this metro has no driver, it's fully automatic.

Here are a couple of things I'd like to see, but frankly I just don't have the skill or the time to do.  Some are very easy, other's maybe a little more difficult.

-Multi-colored (Blue, Green, Orange, etc.) sub lines as t make a real metro system.  It would be much nicer to see the colored lines in the underground view than just to see the default black line the game gives.

-Some new university buildings.  I realize there is a standard university as well as some people have made.  I also realize that some people have attempted to make a buildable university set, but I would have to say that it is incomplete.  If someone could take on this project, I would be very grateful.

-A plopable preconstructed water-pipe grid.  This would be ever so useful in those large flat regions if you could just plop the grid and then connect it to a pump or existing line.

-A good light rail system.  Someone did a light rail, but it isn't very useful.  I would like one that will work well with my mass transit system and be able to move below ground into a subway or raised up to the el.  The regular rail should only be used for freight or amtrak.  The light rail is for inner city and suburban mass transit.

-A large beach with a boardwalk and commercial service buildings for making a resort town.  The problem with the default beaches is that they take so much effort to plop, and they don't look at all realistic when you plop more than one, unless you can line them up evenly.

I probably will think of more later, but this is enough for now.  Thank you to anyone who tackles any of these projects and thank you to everyone who takes the time to make BAT's and other files to make our playng experience better.

-Curtass

those trains would be a train mod actually unless you want a prop but it would be cool to have those in game1.gif2.gif

Two more Vancouver buildings that I forgot when I posted last week...

The Provincial Courthouse in Vancouver - an absolutely stunning piece of architecture, with a massive inclined glass plane for a roof.
 <ahttp://www.queensu.ca/aiesec/pictures/vancouver_2004/2_court_house.JPG align=baseline>

Here's another photo of the Courthouse that shows off the architecture a little better, as well as the plaza/gardens that extend north to Robson St. (yes, that is a terraced pond with waterfalls on the roof)
<ahttp://www.arthurerickson.com/images/buildings/LawCrts4.jpg align=baseline>

And, by the same architect, the Simon Fraser University campus (perhaps as a replacement for the default university?)
<ahttp://www.arthurerickson.com/images/buildings/sfumall2.jpg align=baseline>

Plus a couple of others that IMO would look great in SC4: the Sylvia Hotel, Canada Place, Hotel Vancouver, Hotel Georgia, Sun Yat Sen Garden, Lonsdale or New West Quay, the Museum of Anthropology.

Thx. K.

Sorry for posting twice in a row, but I think the topic of this one is different enough to warrant its own message...

I love all the coastlines in the CJs on ST - some, like the Sculpting Columbia River CJ are absolutely stunning. But it got me thinking... when you look at houses, commercial buildings, etc. that are situated on the waterfront, what do they all have in common? They all have big picture windows that look out over the water. So, what do you say, BATters? How 'bout some houses & commercial buildings developed specifically for these areas - they could be ploppable so that the folks building waterfront cities could line 'em up!

Thx. K.
