Get well. You may look like a viking in your avatar, but even vikings can work too much. Take a well deserved rest.

Drop in to the Moose Factory when you get back for some well deserved lionization.

Get well soon dirk. We can survive without a home page for a little bit longer. The forums and stex are the backbone of this site, not the home page. So, get some warm chicken soup and stay out of that cold Canada air for the remainder of the weekend. Please. And also please refrain from looking like ">this for a while. (I dug this out of the "post your picture here" thread).

I had an error trying to edit the post above this one to put this picture in it and I think this picture is funny so please don't count this post as a double post. Here the picture is. Dirk, please refrain from looking like this.

I remember Dragon's Lair very well. It was popular in the early-to-mid 80s. It was in an arcade near work.

There was a kid who hung out at the arcade who was very good at the game. He was about the age Dirk would have been back then and looked a lot like Dirk. We tried to give him quarters so we could watch him and learn how to play. Being a cautious child, he refused to take the quarters from us so we would put them in the machine and step away.

It would be cool if that kid really was Dirk; that he and I ran into each other 20+ years ago. But I have no reason to believe that Dirk was hanging out in arcades in Washington, DC, so it probably wasn't him.

lol.. I just had a deja-vu ....
thats almost the same post you made about 6 mounts ago when dirk just chenged his avatar...3.gif

EDIT: here it is.......

It did cause quite a stir when it hit the video arcades.  I remember there was an arcade near work where we used to play during lunch.  There was this little kid who hung out there, who was amazingly good at Dragon's Lair.  We used to watch him to learn how to play the game.   He was quite shy and (rightly so) wouldn't accept quarters from us.  The only way we could get him to play was to put the quarters in the machine and step away.  Then the kid would step up and play.

Now that I think of it, that kid kinda looked like Dirk!   Now that would be a bizarre coincidence.   3.gif  (I am fairly certain, however, that Dirk was not hanging out in video arcades in Washington, DC during the early 80s.)

Ditto on all the above Dirk, even though I am new here I am most grateful for all your effort. I know of no other web site or community like this one. You are doing a fantastic job for a lot of very nice people. Thanks again and hope you are feeling better by now as this thread was started about five days ago.
