Darmok,

I am totally speechless at the area you have just created. Sorry for not coming in sooner...alot of RLS you see (friends mostly) so I couldn't come in and comment on your wonderful work, but I really like all the embassies you made...maybe next Fuscienne Bay will include yours near the heart of the city...a good thing actually! The waterfalls and natrual beauty near is magnificent. I love how you made a perfect place for the new giant building in the middle.
I wonder where did you get the Opera house? 19.gif

BTW, I am honored to have my embassy built first! 29.gif It is a pleasure to read this CJ from its humble beginnings around page 7, and now look...40! 29.gifExcellent and BTW, your CJ is now at number 4, thus passing Ocean Point.

Hey Darmok, well last time I posted in your CJ (a really, really long time ago) all you had developed was farmland and I really liked it, but now after seeing your urban areas I love it! Awesome work man, keep it up!!

Wow how come no one ever told me about this jewel?! I can't believe I've never visited this! Great work Darmok, every single picture is so full of detail, it just makes me take a second look at every one. Amazing job, can't wait for more!

This looks like a great CJ although I've just read the first 3 or 4 pages of it so far. Also earlier in the CJ, around the second page you used a train station that had the SCC letters stacked. You can download this lot at Simcity Central. Sorry if this is already found. I can post a link to where you can download it if you want me to.

    Hi everybody!

First I want to thank each and everyone for your good whishes, the vacations were great, still a few days left to enjoy. 10.gif3.gif

    Some news
I probably won't be able to make a regular update until I get my new pc, this one is crashing so often that I simply hope to be able to post these answer without rebooting. I'll try to post an update anyway in the folowing days, we'll see if it works! (knock on wood)

So, glad to be back, and as for the CJ's I visit regularly, give me a bit of time and I'll try to catch up with you. 19.gif

DHOPPE and ALDARA and those of you who like reading...

I've read two James Rollins books while relaxing on the beach. Map of Bones, and Excavation. Currently finishing Sandstorm. GREAT books.... for those who likes action, mystery and archeology.

    And now.... some answers.

    dhoppe
    D.
I'm really glad you liked it D. As I said in the update, there's a lot of work in it, and in the end I was not so sure about it, perhaps by seeing it for so long I was not that good a judge about it. But all the comments I've read so far are really uplifting. 19.gif Everytime I looked at that building, it reminded me of a big cruise ship. And suddenly the idea kicked in, put it on water, and when I looked at the place left in Dol Amroth, the idea of having several streams and falls came in. Lucky I guess! 1.gif
After placing the embassies, I saw that I had a little place left, so I thought why not! So I build me a little pied

Hey again Darmok, I have no problem with you not being able to post for a while until your new computer is up and running, I understand how having a crappy computer or internet server can be frustrating while trying to do great things on it. I just would like to say I'm glad you had a good holiday, and good luck with the computer buddy! 2.gif

Hello Darmok, I'm glad you had a great time on your vacation. Now we get to enjoy the updates. Let's see if you got a lot of inspiration from it. By the way where did you get the name Darmok from? Also are you from Quebec? Sorry if my questions are too intrusive. 44.gif Now if I could just convince my wife that we need a new computer.

Hi friends, Anduin Valley is back in business!

    Some news...
Sorry for the lack of udates, comments and posts last week. But the old box died on me! Don't know if it was the motherboard or the processor, bu all of a sudden, it was gone!

And to top it off, the new pc was delivered later than anticipated, just had my new monitor today. So thursday and friday I was setting up the new box, and the server case is so big I had to find a new place, meaning rerouting all the cables! That was fun! really! Now all is placed, I'm up and running. And SC4 with all the setting at maximum at 1600X1200 looks fantastic!

    Some answers.

Thanks a lot for the good words and whishes! New pc is a blast and I'm loving using it!

Thanks bart! Yes the vacation gave me a couple of ideas, the name Darmok comes from an episode of Star Trek The next Generation. And yes I'm from Quebec. And I guess I have a very comprehensive wife! 2.gif

And now ladies and gents, let's get some pics on that CJ!

    3_dol_am_intro13.jpg

Now here's the avenue that will lead to the opera building, and some terraforming for a new high wealth residential sector to come (left side of the pic.)
    dol_am_up_13_01.jpg

The same avenue on a reverse angle, nearer the opera.

    dol_am_up_13_02.jpg

Both market places are built on that avenue.

    dol_am_up_13_03.jpg

    dol_am_up_13_04.jpg

Near the entrance of the diplomatic sector, an airport tram and commercial zoning.

    dol_am_up_13_05.jpg

Here's the zoning for another residential sector.

    dol_am_up_13_06.jpg

Again the use of the highway tool to get a better slope.

    dol_am_up_13_07.jpg

    Some basic layout

    Zoning, bus stops and parks.

    dol_am_up_13_10.jpg

And new citizens are coming to town.

    dol_am_up_13_14.jpg

Pease note that there won't be a pic 15.

    The new airport tram sector.

    dol_am_up_13_16.jpg

And some new industry is zoned. To be continued later....

    dol_am_up_13_17.jpg

Here it is folks! Hope you liked it!

Please note that I have still some work to do on the new PC (setup is not completed yet.) But I'll try to post another update as soon as possible.

Again thanks to all of you who are supporting Anduin Valley!

Really glad to be back! 44.gif

    In the meantime
    Take care

I love the new residential sectors, looks so nice, and really love the way you plan your cities. The residential embankements are so beautiful, I really love the addition of the marrast walkways to it, that is something I love to do and I'm glad you have found it too. Excellent work once again Darmok! 2.gif

I have one suggestion and that is download the asphalt highway mod. 1.gif

    Hello Darmok!

First of all Thank You for your kind post in my CJ. As you made a similiar experience you know how hard it is ...

Now to your update: Great work (may I say as always ?31.gif2.gif): I like the layout of your resdential area. Those 1 tile deep Residentials with the commercial in it - great layout. I might try it too. And as I can see you use my favourite Busstops (from SimGoober) too. Have you tried to use the 3tiled ones as pedestrian ways? If not you should, they work great!!! 29.gif (Maybe I should ask SimGoober to make them 4, 5 and/or 6 tiles long!)

    All in all: Great Update!

    D,

As always, a really great update.  Glad to see you are back up and running...I was beginning to worry that something was wrong.  In fact, just the other evening I was asking Dhoppeii in the chat room if he had heard from you or not.42.gif  Glad to see you are back with us now.

    Let see now...where to start...

Picture 13-03.  Just a thought for you to chew on, but when I do an intersection off of an avenue I try to do it with a street rather than a road.  Normally, I do just start at the first tile off of the avenue and drag to the other side of the avenue (but not to the other tile beside the avenue if you are only trying to create a T intersection.)  What this does is places a stop light at the intersection.  I think that is more realistic...because think about it, how hard of a time will the people leaving the markets have trying to turn left on to the avenue.  Can you say crash, Bang, BOOM! 46.gif  Like I said, just a thought. 2.gif

The airport tram is cool as usual.  Another thought for you...have you considered using the NDEX Parking Lots by Ardecila?  They are here https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=all&category=default&sortby=DatePosted&show=12&Str=ardecila . They are the 2nd download on the page.  One of the parking areas is a 6x6 area.  All of the spaces are interconnected and they are transit enabled.  You could simply butt your park trails up to the parking areas.  Just another though for ya. 2.gif

Picture 13-06 and 13-11.  What is that high-rise...that thing is awesome, I want it!! 9.gif29.gif

The whole update is great as usual.  I'm glad to see you are back among the living now. 9.gif   Keep em coming... 44.gif
