Well, I was more active in this thread last season, but life sort of took my attention away from here this season. But count me in as another Chargers fan. I said we were going all the way earlier, though I didn't expect this to be the road we were going to take. I actually threw in the towel just before the Chargers started their winning streak. I gotta say, these are looking more like the Chargers we used to know. Although if Denver hadn't lost to the Bills, we wouldn't be in this situation.

But it shows how much character the Chargers have, because they still tried to win games even though it seemed like it was impossible to get into the playoffs.

Anyway, I'm thinking that if we can just beat Indy, we might just be able to go all the way to Tampa.

Go SD, charge!

The Denver Broncos fired Mike Shanahan today. I was certainly suprised by this. I am not sure that the Broncos' management made the right choice in doing this. It is true that Shanahan presided over a shocking late season collapse this year and in general have been rather mediocre over the past few years, but I think he has made the team better than most coaches would. He is a smart guy...maybe the Cowboys can pick him up 2.gif

Dont look like the cowboys will be looking for a new coach, if only because Mr Jones would

have to eat some crow if he did fire Wade. Unless the Lions hire Jason Garet that is, then we will need a new offensive guy ( Mike Shanahan ? or is he beter know as a defence guy? )

Dont even look like TO will be cut.

Pacman is defenetly gone,Roy Williams ( Defence) will most likely be gone.

Well here go my playoff predictions...

I think the Giants are not going to make it back to the Super Bowl. Judging from what ! saw at the Eagle Redskins game and the Eagles Cowboys game the Eagles are maddeningly inconsistent, but can be supremely dominant. Reminds me of the Giants last year...So I think the Eagles will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Over in the AFC the Colts are entering the playoffs on fire. They are more healthy than they have been all season and they have Peyton Manning. Manning alone is a convincing cause to choose the Colts to win the Super Bowl. However, the Titans and Chargers both represent highly talented teams that could easily make a run at the Super Bowl. Even with the loss of Merriman and the decline of Ladainian Tomlinson the Chargers posses one of the most talented rosters in the league, and despite their early season struggles they have pulled together at the right time. Looking back at it, it is almost unbelievable that the Chargers only have an 8-8 record (or 9-7 if you prefer with the blown call at the first Denver game). In the end, however, I still am going to pick the Colts to win the Super Bowl and give coach Tony Dungy a triumphant swan song.

so....

Colts over Eagles in the Super Bowl (which Super Bowl number is this btw? 44?)

Let's hear your picks guys, and Happy New Year everyone!

2 Good games.
Was supprized  Arizona won today, considering how bad they have been playing the last few weeks. Not supprized the chargers won, both teams playing well recently, Both good teams
An OT win for the Chargers still dont think they can takes either the titans or Steelers.

Word is Shannahan may come to the cowboys if Jason Garet leaves.

look if the chargers can beat the hottest team in the AFC then the bolts can take out any AFC team

Indy has many weponds but Pitsburg or Tennessee dosen't have that many

Chargers are going deep into the playoffs this year

Pittsburgh and Tennessee have defenses, though, which Indy doesn't really have.

Round 2 is Set

AFC

Sat., Jan. 10, 4:30 p.m. ET, CBS
Baltimore (11-5, 1-0)
at Tennessee (13-3)
Sun., Jan. 11, 4:45 p.m. ET, CBS
San Diego (8-8, 1-0)
at Pittsburgh (12-4)

NFC

Sat., Jan. 10, 8:15 p.m. ET, FOX

Arizona (9-7, 1-0)
at Carolina (12-4)
Sun., Jan. 11, 1 p.m. ET, FOX
Philadelphia (9-6-1, 1-0)
at N.Y. Giants (12-4)

Can SD, Philly and Arizona  find that magic again?

Arizona and Phily may have a chance but i think SD wont be able to score on Pittsburg

It may have been. I just did a search for 8-8 playoff teams. I had forgot Arizona ended 9-7 this seasonor there would have been 2  8-8s again like 1999.

v v v v

Playoff teams with 8-8 records since the NFL began playing a 16-game regular-season schedule in 1978 (x-wild card team):

2008 — San Diego, vs. Indianapolis

2006 — x-N.Y. Giants, lost to Philadelphia 23-20.

2004 — x-Minnesota, beat Green Bay 31-17; lost to Philadelphia 27-14.

2004 — x-St. Louis, beat Seattle 27-20; lost to Atlanta 47-17.

1999 — x-Dallas, lost to Minnesota 27-10.

1999 — x-Detroit, lost to Washington 27-13.

1991 — x-N.Y. Jets, lost to Houston Oilers 17-10.

1990 — x-New Orleans, lost to Chicago 16-6.

1985 — Cleveland, lost to Miami 24-21.

Wow...if San Diego beats the Steelers and Baltimore beats the Titans the Chargers will actually be hosts of the AFC Championship game, 10-8 record and all. Weird and kind of lame but also interesting.

What the Cowboys really need to do is find a way to get their playmakers open more. Why in gods name do we have two of the top wideouts in the game, one of the best tight ends, and a host of solid running backs and back up wide recievers that can hardly get open?

Are you mad?!? Has this years playoffs taught you nothing?!? Underdogs always win and home teams always lose. And being a bird is good. 3.gif

in other news, the Patriots lost their offensive coordinator. McDaniels is now the new Broncos coach. Smart hire if I don't say so myself.

All the Bird teams except one made the playoffs this season.

The NFC side is bird team heavy with 4,The  AFC has only one.

Colts looking for a new coach too. wonder if Garet will get an interview, hate for him to end up at the Lions.

yay!   Arizona knocked Philadelphia out of the playoffs  4.gif

I only root for Philly when they are playing Dallas.   and the Cardinals haven't been to the superbowl in decades.   I think it's their turn.

I'd like to see Baltimore win.   They are local and it would be fun to have the youngest QB and the oldest QB playing against each other.   But I suspect Pittsburgh will win.  Which is okay.

Those rails look kinda rickety, EB.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

The Cardinals have never been to the Super Bowl.

Only  5 teams left that have not been at all.

Lions

Texans

Browns

Saints

Jaguaurs

Personaly going for the Steelers to Win.

Those rails are the  spur section that  runs behind a GM assembly plant, the ones to the right are the main tracks are in much better shape.

Edit

Wow that was a massive Hit to McGahee. Looks like they both got knocked out.
