Meg: Quoting from the article that EB linked to:

The action could potentially cost Haynesworth more than a suspension from the football field. The Nashville, Tenn., police department issued a statement saying it "stands ready to assist [Andre] Gurode in criminally prosecuting [Albert] Haynesworth if Gurode so chooses."

Gurode's cooperation appears key to any charges being filed against Haynesworth.

"In assault situations, an affirmative desire for prosecution and an acknowledgement of cooperation from the victim, in this case Gurode, are preferable before officers and prosecuting attorneys move forward with the development of a case," the statement continued.quote>

If you voted in the poll that they have on that page, you'd notice that by a slight majority, people think that this was too harsh.  IMHO, how could this be too hard?  The guy should have been banned from the NFL, fined for unsportsman like conduct, and be facing criminal charges.

However, since that wasn't the case, the NFL should have at least done this much.

1). Suspended from the remainder of the season (or at least however many games Andre will miss plus one).

2). Fined for conduct to the tune of $1 Million.

3). Be forced to pay for both Andre's medical bills and any pay he will lose because of missing games for this injury.

Now that would have set a real precedent.

On the subject of Haynesworth's actions against Gurode, I point you to this article.49.gif

Basically, it sounds like Haynesworth has realized the error of his ways and is attempting to show he is sorry for his actions.  Interestingly enough, the people that were mentioned in this article said that Haynesworth's punishment wasn't severe enough for his crime.  Good to hear as Haynesworth essentially "took it out" on Gurode.  Hopefully, the NFL's research of the situation might lead to tougher penalties for incidents like this.

Its good to hear him mention he wont appeal the suspension. even though the  union was wanting him too.

not sure if the union can persue an appeal when the player does not want to appeal it.

I believe the league can appeal on behalf of the player without their consent. In this case they are choosing not to.

I still think it sends a bad message to young people. In my opinion.....

"You can stomp someone's face as long as you apologize"

isn't too far away from"

"You can abuse your spouse/kids/pets as long as you feel bad about it."

yes i heard that too.

There still talking about it here.

And will probably be revived when haynesworth returns to play.

Gurode however is going to play this week. if it deamed feasable since face injurys can be problimatic... no pain normaly but put on a

tight fitting helmet and it could be a different story.

Tampa may actually win one. OK nevermind. Maybe if they stop tackling like a high school team they will win one....maybe.

Oh yes, the Bears are quite good.

I actually have tickets to the Tampa v Chicago game in mid Dec. Any tips on how to keep from freezing solid while the Bears annihilate the Bucs?

Lots of layers of clothes.   and bring a blanket.  and some of the hand/foot warmers could help.

You might want to check with the stadium and see what is allowed in.  They been searching everyone going into FedEx field for a while now.   A rather lame pat-down search.  Once I was with some teenagers, one of whom had three cans of soda in his sleeves.  They only found one.

You can say that again. Second pathetic performance by the Bengals in a row. They deserve to watch the playoffs with the other wanna-bes with performances like that one.

You guys are just Bucs haters! You know they just flat out whooped Cincy!

HAHA just kidding. I almost couldn't type it I was laughing so hard! Well at least they won't be winless when I freeze myself in Dec watching them play Chicago. The schedule gods were not kind to my Bucs this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they only win 4 or 5 this year.

THAT was heart attack football! I was jumping up and down screaming for joy when Bulger threw his first interception in forever and when Josh Brown nailed that 54 yarder! Why did Morris have to fumble? lol 3.gif

17-0 Cardinals?

Are they letting the '85 Bears team play?

Flashes of that 2001 season again... but this year, even though Grossman forgot to come to Arizona, they've got a pretty good offense (tonight excepted).

As i sit here drinking bad whiskey and watching something about robot chickens because my cat will not allow me any where near my remote control. I must say that the cardinals deserver that loss. That was [explicit] pathetic. Something like thirty nine yards and you still win? The bears must hang their heads as low as Phoenix. Nice stadium, tho. Will anyone from Chitown be able to down load it soon?
