OKay as some of you may know, Adam (gingerblokey) has come to stay with me for six days, starting last Wednesday. Anyway, since then, weve taken quite a few pics, that I'm gunna share with you.

Adam lives in Norfolk, the flattest place evar, and I live in Wales, which is FULL of mountains, therefore is automatically awesome 3.gif. But anyway, he has been absolutely amazed by the sheer scale of things. We have been walking up foothills of foothills of mountains, which he actually thinks are large mountains; its awesome.

Anyway, so far we have done a number of walks, and visited quite a few places. Shame the weather has been so foggy and generally grim.

(WARNING: Loads of images! 3.gif)

Our first real trip was up onto the Epynt mountain range (approx 380 metres above sea level). The entire area is also a military training zone; with the lots of active squadrans from the SAS, to the RAF, and army, and even the Iraq Police, training up there before they go to war.

The area is almost totally treeless, apart from blocks of evergreens, which were placed artificially so that the sheep can shelter within them (local farms do have grazing rights on this dangerous military area, funnily enough).

We also came across this absolutely amazing little glacial valley.

And finally, the first pictures of me and Adam; in front of the lovely valley.

Here is one of the many many warning signs that are on this mountain range. It's in Welsh and English. MOD stands for Ministery of Defence.

IMG_1023.jpg

We also found a very blunt sign that scared Adam quite a bit and made me laugh 3.gif

IMG_1024.jpg

When the red flag is raised, it means that there is active military training going on at the very moment.

IMG_1025.jpg

After the Epynt, we descended down into the 'lowlands' (still a good deal above sea level), and visited to the town of Llandrindod Wells.

Probably the unoff

Oh man I feel like I'm spamming here, but I have a few more pics to upload!

Today, me and Adam went for a four hour walk, around 10 miles in total, along the local canal.

Today was a really nice day, and I must say that the Autumn (Fall for you Americans) colours here were absolutely stunning!

The leaves were quite literally coating the entire paths down to the canal, you couldn't walk without stirring up a 100 leaves. (and those are Adam's feet)

IMG_1113.jpg

This is a rather dramatic picture taken looking back under the bridge that the local by-pass travels above.

PA274744.jpg

Looking back from the tunnel to the rest of the canal. The canal itself splits into two, and runs to two different destinations, and runs for around 35 miles. The tree colours were absolutely stunning once the canal towpath went right into the rural areas, away from the main roads.

IMG_1085.jpg

IMG_1097.jpg

We diverted off of the towpath and diverted down to the beautiful Usk river. And yes, those are my legs and shoes.

IMG_1086.jpg

IMG_1092.jpg

IMG_1094.jpg

We then came to the canal lock. A part of the canal actually collapsed a few weeks ago, and thus it was extreamly quiet along the canal. We only saw two canal boats in all; at this time of year you could expect to see around 20+.

IMG_1098.jpg

IMG_1099.jpg

IMG_1100.jpg

As the canal and the Usk run almost parallel to each other, a road has to cross both the canal and the Usk to get to the villages on the other side. We crossed over to the middle of the bridge and I took a stunning picture of the Usk looking back towards where we had come from.

IMG_1101.jpg

The canal then swaps sides with the Usk, therefore there is an aqueduct over the Usk. I went over to the opposing side of the bridge and took a picture of the aqueduct bridge.

IMG_1102.jpg

Over the aqueduct, we spotted the only two canal boats.

IMG_1117.jpg

IMG_1119.jpg

We can also see the main road bridge from the aqueduct bridge.
