Ok, I went back a few pages, and lo! there is a conversion!

I was wrong,

anyway, one track piece that I shink really should be in here is an 'S' curve, like this one:

scurvecp1.jpg

and also a similarly shaped Y split.

I know this is an unrealistic expectation, seeing as the origional people working on his are gone, but if anybody wants to continue this, these would be very helpfull puzzle pieces.

I really like the HSRP and i have read through most of this thread and done some searching. I was curious if there are any plans for more stations? Not small ones, I like the transition one that comes with the beta, but a variety would be nice. I guess some batr's need to take a look? It looks like the project may have ended at the beta tho 15.gif

This is indeed not possible. You can cut a hole in the LOD so the trains can visually enter the station, but since all textures are just single-layered pictures, the "transparent" windows will only show the empty tracks and platforms. It's even worse, if you have a transparent roof or something similar, that would show the neighboring lot/building from a particular perspective, you'd only see a black area "through" that roof, since the background in gmax's rendering window is black.quote>

Oh really?

Yeah, that would make a cool skin! If you want some videos of the TGV

The normal speed of the TGV 186+ mph

before the final test

A more pro video, with aerial footage goin the full 357.2!

Also, some pics of this beast (in case someone makes a skin)

from RailPictures.net and some more

And yes, they did need to use a LearJet (An actual one at that) to do the aerial footage

well, making this would be very cool.

There is however one problem... the design used on the carriages means that the carriages have to arranged in one particular order, which isn't possible tin simcity.

The way to get around this, i would say, is to alter the design so that each carriage is the same but it still joins to together to create the same type of design. I will probably have a go at making this, and once i have anything worth showing i will post it here.

Hey Folks..

I hope people who are knowledgeable about the HSRP project would be willing to answer some questions for me.

I m creating an HSRP Terminal bat out of some model I found; so far so good (think Im gonna do an modified Philadelphia 30th St. Station. If people think its worth it, I will also design a through station on the same model. If you want to know what it looks like, here is the wiki article on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30th_Street_Station )

Two Things: 1) the model file on STEX did not include HSRP supports; rather, it had bridge supports included. Do the models themselves use the default monorail support or otherwise? I need to know whether to add it or not.

2) Can you give me an measurements of exact height, from ground - track, and track - train. I dont want to see the train getting beheaded every time it pulls into this station. Also, since im not THAT great, can someone also give me the width from the edge of the tracks to the edge of the tile itself, or is it a full tile within itself? An answer in meters would be appreicated since thats what the program I use utilizes as unit of measure.

I will check this for replies tonight-- I have a full day of class (until 10pm EST, that is.) and will reply, including pictures of progress. (I have already started modifying the model into an full-fledged HSRP terminal.)

Thanks for the help!

I cannot continue this project until I get the information I need for the height measurements for the track and the trains, and also whether to use the monorail supports or else. Hope to hear from anyone who knows more about this subject!

Stephenh2-- hope this is close to the real thing. I realize it s not exactly what it looks like, but then, it is just preliminary.

Even if it's not like the real thing, it still looks pretty good. I can't wait to use it in my cities!

Nice, extremely nice, it looks practically the same! I can see a new transit hub in my cities! 19.gif

Here is some info that might be helpful

"the monorail cars extend above the Z = 0 plane and ride at path height 15.5. At the moment, I am looking at the monorail track models from within the Reader. The height of the upper surface of the monorail tracks is at 16.778215 on the straight track section model. Maxis uses 15.5 to make the monorail appear to "stradle" the tracks. So by using 15.5 for the deck height, we won't have to re-write all the monorail path files for the hi-speed train system. The hi-speed rail system 3ddz is designing will replace the monorail network."

I'll keep looking for more... Good projects deserve to be helped!

After reviewing page after, after page I can not come up with why I can't change the switch to a different track? Is ther an update that I need? The program only shows the green straight arrow and never goes left or right.

Aha! Yes, you were right. I also extracted the train from the main HSRP files, so thats two for two. Thank you for the help! Now, back to work modelling the terminal. I have to redo the entire back part to accomodate the new height measurements.

Hey Everyone--

I have an event to attend this weekend, so the terminal project will be delayed slightly. Progress was halted recently due to issues with the BAT not installing, so I might have to inquire if anyones willing to render it into a .sc4 model. Let me tinkle with my computer when i get back, and see where it goes.

AndI m a sucker for punishment. Im also making an thru-station for HSRP based on the San Diego Santa Fe Depot, with spanish designs (Im originally from Southern California)... Progress pictures will be posted next week.

Sorry this update isnt robust, but it ll have to do today.
