It might be a fantastic day for all of the couples but for singles like myself, it's the most depressing day of the year8.gif! But hey, things will turn around I guess.

Including the word saint in the name, eh? Yeah, you're defintitely off the deep end with your religion.21.gif

As far as just about anyone is concerned these days, it's just Valentines day, and has no religious meaning whatsoever. It's a commercial holday that celebrates love.

Yay capitalism!3.gif

Prettey  useless and stupid capitalistic day i think. though it dosnt do any more harm than that the newspaper was pink and made it really hard to read... and thats for me with perfect eyesight.

Happy single awarness day anyway ^^

Wow...you look at everything in a rather skewed manner IMO. Here in Australia, it's called Saint Valentine's Day as well as plain Valentine's Day. In the end, who cares?? 30.gif

I seriously doubt it's a subversive attempt by dev to convert us all, merely him being accurate in his labelling of festivals. 21.gif

And yes, Happy Saint Valentine's Day to everyone!! 36.gif

I guess for some of us it could also be called Old Coupled Fogey(s) Continue To Rekindle The Long Term Relationship Day (OCFCTRTLTRD for short) too,  huh. 3.gif

(eh, oh yeah: I'm the fogey and she's not... and in addition to this day there is the anniversaries,...  and the rest the year too, ...and uh... and, and, why is it the female and not the guys gets the chocolates anyway?34.gif,

...oh okay... I'm going to Rite-Aid, J.C. Penney, or Walmart, or someplace, during my lunchbreak to get a card or something.... I may even spend a couple of hours away from the computer...
...yeah, Mr. Romance, that's me alright! 21.gif)

St. Valentines Day...Isn't that the day you innocently send a card to someone you have a crush on and they recognise your handwriting and within a day the whole school knows your crush...Oh, thats just me...ok...Well that's just a bad experience I had a long time ago...anyhoo, maybe next Valentines Day I will actually have a Valentine, days like these I long for the Primary School days, when you sent card to EVERYONE, even the teachers because it was a laugh. At my age now, it's taken so seriously, one wrong move and you'll regret it for the rest of your...month...either because you messed up with someone, or you went for someone who already had a partner and...well, you get the idea...

Oh, how a sad story Muzzy! But yeah, i liked it a lot better back in primary too, when everyone was forced to write something postive about everyone. Ive quite good memories of this day. Though none the last 5 years ^^

Oh, and i made a special pic for all of you ^^

Cheers

Edit, just noticed how wrong i spelt the picture... but it fit anyway, and thats the main point ^^

Duke87 | You get vaccinations in school in Canada?47.gif Don't you need a doctor to do that?42.gif

The government regualtes health care and education. They do vaccinations at school over a 2-5 day period. This way, they dont miss anyone. You do have to fill out consent forms, and you dont have to get it if you dont want to, but they say you should. It's a better way of preventative health care, and because they're under 18 it's covered by their provincial health insurance plan.

It's a good thing. We're less likely to get meningitis or hepititus A/B than you!44.gif

Everyday should be Valentine's Day. Oh well, I guess today we actually take a little time to recognize the people we love (family, friends, significant other)

Happy Love Day all!36.gif

I don't really love or hate Valentines Day. I'm not religious, at all. Nobody outside of my family loves me, or likes me really. So I'll be alone for the rest of my life.

Hurray for lonliness! 39.gif

Ah nuts to the depressing paragraph above, Happy Valentines Day! 36.gif

I like you all. 18.gif Note: Not using the word love. That would be creepy on a forum of SimCity fans.

I remember getting a polio vaccine in school.  It wasn't a shot, though.  They marched us all to the cafeteria where there was a nurse with a tray covered with little paper cups, each containing a sugar cube with (what looked like) food coloring on top.  We each had to take a cup and put the cube in our mouth and chew/dissolve it.  Seems like we did it more than once.

Getting back on topic, the valentine day dance is over here .

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Wow! thts a long time ago, was this when they first devoloped the vaccine in 1954, or in the 60s sometime?

yea, valentines day sucks, too happy. they had ballons and candy in school today, a heart balloon got stuck on my coat, and i was outside when i finally realised it, so i let the balloon go off in the air, i watched as it turned to a little dot, and i wished that little blue piece of rubber a happy flight, its probably over The atlantic somewhere now, that or popped somewhere in the woods, or caught on a power line.

They also had vaccination guns. My mom has a scar from it. The only thing you get from needles is a tiny barely visible dot for a few hours 3.gif

Then it blends in with the rest of the acne.30.gif
