    Welcome To Page 3!

Looks like Sloppet can't wait for the new update! Haha... okay, 2 hours after this anchorage post is posted (so that I can secure the 1st post in the 3rd page?) I finally can get my hands on my personal computer. And here goes the 7th update of this CJ! 9.gif

    botaniamayortedheader72kn.jpg

Welcome to Botania again! Well, and also a warm welcome to page 3 too 31.gif Well, in this update we'll be focusing a new city I've built overnight called Pleasant Hill. It is located to the West of Candomile and South of Slumberland.

Here is the first photo for this update:

    pleasanthillbotaniamt103xr.jpg

A very random shot of Pleasant Drive, which is actually a ground highway, that runs through all the districts (you can know about them below 2.gif). There are some bridges than span across the highway to provide access of residents to both sides of the highway.

With some very basic photoshop jobs I've divided my not yet completed city into a few districts (the 1st of its kind in this CJ!):

    pleasanthillbotaniamainmap7bm.jpg

We've got this main map over at the top. So now let's move on with the update. We'll start from the top left district, Pleasant Green District. This update will introduce you all the featured districts in a clockwise motion starting from Pleasant Green District. Here we go! 5.gif

    Pleasant Green District

Sandwiched between the city's border and Pleasant Drive, the Pleasant Green District is indeed a very small

    pleasanthillbotaniamt261td.jpg

Isolated residential lots from the district. They are built to accomodate more residents and make full use of city land reserved for development.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt270vd.jpg

Mixture of commercial and residential buildings. In order to provide more city land for residential usage, the government has to zone more medium density commercial instead of low density commercial to save space. 31.gif

    pleasanthillbotaniamt283ri.jpg

The Pleasant Green Interchange. It is a typical interchange whereby only the traffic on the 2nd level is affected by placement of traffic signal lights while the 1st level traffic (the highway) can continue cruising at high speed.

    Pleasant's Ridge District

Pleasant's Ridge District is the build up zone for Pleasant's Ridge area. In this district there is the Pleasant Ridge's Trail that takes visitors on a magnificent journey of the wide spectrum of flora and fauna found in the ridge area. The zoning for residential lots are more disperesed as compared to other districts to avoid damaging the fragile ecosystem at the ridge area.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt50yn.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt111fx.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt124hm.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt138qn.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt145bv.jpg

Up next are several screenshots of the suburbs and pocket neighbourhoods located at the foot of the ridge:

    pleasanthillbotaniamt180yb.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt199jt.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt217bi.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt225di.jpg

    Pleasant Lane District

The unique thing about Pleasant Lane District is that it has the one and only highway bridge in the city. This highway, which is also known as the Pleasant Drive, links Pleasant Lane District to Slumberland. On the other hand, the Pleasant Lane District is a pretty narrow district as it is located at the bottom right corner of the city where the river also cuts through. Of couse, the mayor had a hard time zoning 18.gif

One of the busiest interchange at Pleasant Lane District:
    pleasanthillbotaniamt208dh.jpg

    Pleasant Park District

Pleasant Park District holds the highest percentage of population among all the other districts in Pleasant Hill. It is also the most traffic-problematic district the government claims. However, the Land Transport Authoirty of Pleasant Hill (LaTAPH) has made improvements over the years to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduced commute time.

It also contains a small lake (made with PEG's Pond Kit Lots, inspired by how magpieshooter uses it in his CJ Kinata Region 48.gif), which looks awesomely nice and pleasing as it is concealed by medium density buildings around it.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt174tg.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt231ux.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt256rm.jpg

    Pleasant Prince District

Pleasant Prince District is named after George Prince, the guy who founded this town and eventually became the very first mayor of this small town many years back. It is not transformed from a small riverside village to a bustling city! All the credits goes to George Prince 44.gif

    pleasanthillbotaniamt290pk.jpg

    Pleasant Home District

Pleasant Home District is the largest district in Pleasant Hill, but in terms of proportion of population it ranked 2nd after Pleasant Park District. It is a district along the river, giving more than 30% of the residents in it to have a beautiful river view and view of Pleasant's Ridge located at the opposite side of the river.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt93tw.jpg

I guess this is the end of Update #7. Remember, this city is NOT YET COMPLETE, so it can get itself featured again in update #8, which will be coming along in a few days time. Hope you like the screenshots and the layout! 19.gif

All sorts of comments and suggestions are welcomed. Feel free to voice up 1.gif And thanks for following this CJ. 9.gif

    botaniamayortedheader86kw.jpg

Hi all! A warm welcome back to Simtropolis! Honestly speaking, the downtime of the Simtropolis forum actually gave me plenty of time to work on this update and my cities in Botania. So within a week's time I am able to work carefully with my city named Pleasant Hill. Remember? It is the uncompleted city in the previous update (Update #7)... so sit back and enjoy! face-icon-small-smile.gif

Now before we start, let's have a look at the latest region map:

    botaniamainmap108gz.jpg

And below is the OLD map for the city Pleasant Hill:

    pleasanthillbotaniamainmap7bm.jpg

And now what we have after a week of work, a NEW Pleasant Hill! Now the Pleasant Green and Pleasant's Ridge districts have been extended to the top right corner of the map. More development has taken place to accomodate more residents in the lush greenery of Pleasant Hill. On the other hand, there are some developments in the Pleasant Hill Nature Reserve... don't worry! The Housing Development Board of Pleasant Hill (HDB-PH, a.k.a. HoDeBoPH)

    pleasanthillbotaniamainmap23vi.jpg

    PLEASANT GREEN DISTRICT

Featuring the extended of Pleasant Green District. Below are some of the screenshots taken during gameplay: face-icon-small-happy.gif

    pleasanthillbotaniamt416kh.jpg

    pleasanthillbotaniamt421en.jpg

    PLEASANT HILL NATURE RESERVE

This nature reserve is the reowned primary forest of Botania. Untouched by human beings and the city's urbanism. However, due to space contriction HDP-PH forced their way into the nature reserve, but clearing only limited spaces in the primary forest. The land prices of the cleared pieces of land rose immediately as demand for houses rise because people just can't wait to live in a place of clean air and green environment.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt303we.jpg

Low residential housing in the middle of the forest with a highway cutting through the primary forest.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt315mt.jpg

Cute little railway roundabout in the middle of the forest.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt326ww.jpg

The waterfall of the central lake in the nature reserve.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt398dc.jpg

    Another shot of the waterfall.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt331vt.jpg

Medium density housing at the edge of the nature reserve. The law states that only low residential housing are permitted in cleared lands of selected areas in secondary and primary forest.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt347ze.jpg

Well, I have to give the credits to Magpieshooter because I got this inspiration from his awesome Kinata Region CJ face-icon-small-tongue.gif Thanks for all the ideas, MS!

    pleasanthillbotaniamt351tc.jpg

Pocket neighbourhoods located at the edge of the nature reserve district.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt368cn.jpg

Sweet little waterfall with viewing platforms on either sides of the cliff. There are mountain trails around the nature reserve that takes visitors on a journey of discovery of the large variety of flora and fauna in the nature reserve.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt378pn.jpg

Central park of the small neighbourhood located in the heart of the primary forest.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt382ug.jpg

Windy roads cutting through the forest with small neighbourhoods aligned on its sides.

    pleasanthillbotaniamt405nx.jpg

The Ridge Reservoir that provides 70% of the water supply. Environmentalists suggest city builders not to exploit the aquifers under the nature resserve in fear of distrupting the delicate ecosystem. So citizens have to rely mainly on rainwater collected at this reservoir.

That's all for this update... hope you guys enjoyed reading it! face-icon-small-wink.gif

@jacqulina: Thanks a lot for your constant support, visits and comments! face-icon-small-happy.gif

@sloppet: A million thank you for your continuous support! Well, you've motivated me to make this CJ better!

@Fabiocb: Hey thanks for dropping by again! Well, I didn't do much planning actually - what I did is actually to layout the avenues and highways first. After that, all the roads, rail, streets and zones just come along with imagination on the spot. face-icon-small-wink.gif

@sisu: Thanks for commenting! face-icon-small-smile.gif Well, in my cities of this CJ people live very near to the environment and nature... so I named it Botania face-icon-small-wink.gif

@ThomasAH: Welcome to Simtropolis! I am actually very honour for you to post your very first post in my CJ!!! Thanks for your support!

This CJ will be updated very soon! face-icon-small-happy.gif

Great CJ I love your use of PEG's stuff. The canals are very pretty as well. You might want to check out Simgoober's irrigation canals for your rural areas.

@magpieshooter: Hey MS, thanks for dropping by again! Yup, I really have to give you almost all the credits for giving me the inspiration to start this CJ. Really! I was in Simtropolis since 2004, but back then I was just a little quiet lurker. After reading your CJ Kinata Region, I decided to start my own! And apologies if this CJ made you feel that I've got lots of layout ideas from your CJ. 4.gif

@SoulStealer: Thanks for commenting! Well, I like PEG's stuff because they're indeed very useful in CJs! Like the PEG's stream kit and pond kit... they helped me out a lot to insert some extent of realism into this CJ. 2.gif

@jacqulina: A million sincere thanks from me for being super supportive since the start of this CJ! Well, you do really deserve the title - friendliest forumer! 10.gif

@azul_blue_aoi: Well, I like your picture... a woman accidentally falling into sime big hole 9.gif *ouch*

@Fabiocb: Thanks Fabiocb for dropping by! Well, actually I must admit that I am super lousy at terraforming. What I did was I used the Hill Brush Tool in God Mode and anyhow create a little hill in the middle of the map. Anyway, thanks for your comment and support!

@realdimension: Hi there! Thanks for reading this CJ and your priceless comments!

@jobass24us: Hey thanks for dropping by! In fact in this CJ I didn't really put much detail into it. Just the close up screenshots made it look great 2.gif

@mjig_dudy: Actually how I lay out the roads is my random and on-the-spot imagination. I never really put much effort into laying out roads and streets (except for the highways)...

@EricPoehlsen: Thanks for dropping by! It looks so green because it is Botania 9.gif Anyway, not to worry too much about the double post.

Due to real world hold ups (thanks to loads of college homework, again), I am forced to update this CJ this coming Friday or weekend. Sorry for those who can't wait for the next update to be posted. Apologies from me. Anyway, enjoy your stay in Simtropolis! Cheers~ 9.gif

This Cj is looking fantastic terrymunweihao!  You have your own unique style which you are developing, its very nice!

I like the lush greenery of the city, but more than that I like the way its set out and designed.  The national park is a fantastic addition, and it looks very realistic.  With an odd coincidence I made one just like it in Green Depra while simtropolis was down, great minds thiunk alike, eh? 9.gif

Anywho, this is looking great and I have a feeling Botania is really going to go somewhere!

Hi all! Thanks a lot for following this CJ of mine! A million thank you. Before I start this update, I would like to reply the viewer's comments (anyway, thanks a lot for commenting! 9.gif)

@chocolatemax285: Omigosh, I didn't really expect both of us will come out of making a national park / reserve area for our CJ... what an interesting and fascinating coincidence! Well, I also have to give credit to you for giving the the courage to start this CJ, after reading yours 2.gif Cheers! And thanks for commenting!

@jacqulina: I have to thank you for giving me to extremely important motivation to keep on updating. Actually due to school work (loads of them) I actually planned to do the update this weekend. But after seeing your (and of course, others) comments, I have the urge to update this CJ asap so that I won't let my readers down 4.gif

@mkwetters: Hey dude a warm welcome to Simtropolis! Anyway thanks for coming to this CJ and commenting! 10.gif

@magpieshooter: I am extremely apologetic about this CJ forcing you to change the layout of your city name. Well, actullay I am the one who should change because you suggested the city name in your CJ first. Sorry! Anyway, thanks for following this CJ and thanks for the effort!

    botaniamayortedpr5no.jpg

    Lakeside Drive

It is the highway that cuts through the entire width of the city, providing it access to Pleasant Hill and Nicole (not yet featured in this CJ). It is the only route that residents can exit the city to work in commercial sectors of other neighbouring cities.

    lakesidebotaniamayorted16oh.jpg

Construction of the highway. I've used the method suggested by somebody (sorry I've forgot your name, but your tutorial that teaches me to make curved highways is unforgettable!) - placing labels along the length of the desired highway path, and then build the highway through the labels. And the final result is indeed very pleasing 2.gif

    lakesidebotaniamayorted27zk.jpg

    The partly completed Lakeside Drive.

    lakesidebotaniamayorted138wl.jpg

This is featuring part of the curved highway with an extensive interchange built to facilitate vehicle movement, reduce commute time and also makes the city looks nice 9.gif

    City Screenshots

This is the part of this update where the screenshots of the city are taken at the normal 4th degree zoom. Enjoy viewing!

    lakesidebotaniamayorted106xi.jpg

    lakesidebotaniamayorted118zu.jpg

    lakesidebotaniamayorted127ci.jpg

Now we've finished this section. Here comes the exciting part - we're moving on the close-up section, where you can have a really good look at some city details 9.gif Yay, now let's go~

    lakesidebotaniamayorted147jt.jpg

    lakesidebotaniamayorted157de.jpg

    lakesidebotaniamayorted187xo.jpg

    lakesidebotaniamayorted193ij.jpg

    lakesidebotaniamayorted204qg.jpg

Well, due to time constriant, this is probably the end of this update. I am sorry for any disappointment caused, but rest assured that the next update will be out this weekend *promise!* 9.gif So fret not, because besides the immediately coming out update (the next one, this weekend!), I've made a mosiac of Lakeside 2.gif Enjoy!

    See you!
