Time for an update on my life:

Not much went on in the last week. I had asked my friend to lunch at the JROTC drill meet Saturday, and she had said yes, but when we both finally had free time, I couldn't find where she had gone so I ended up laying partially under a desk depressed and listening to music.

There's now less than a week til the Navy Ball, so this week is either going to crawl due to anticipation, or speed by because I have so much still to do. At least my car is finally driveable in time for the ball.

I'm planning on asking her to dinner some time, but I think I'll wait until after the Ball.

Wish me luck, and I'll take a french dip sandwich and a Sprite.

You can get a dozen of them from the Polish Alliance here in town. They also sell cabbage rolls and pyrogy. Every friday from 9am to noon, first come first serve. (go early, they're always out by 10)

well, we call the cabbage rolls krokiety (one cabbage roll - krokiet)

and pyrogis are pierogi

Right, pyrohy/pyrogy is Ukranian, pirogi is polish. We actually get our pyrogy/cabbage rolls from the Ukrainian church, though the place we used to get them sold ones that were made at the polish place.

edit: there are so many ways to spell pyrogi. On our local Shaw access channel, it has ads from all the churches advertising pyrogi on sale, and each one is spelled differently.

I know, but they simplify it here for english people, so it's pirogi and kapunaki. We can't pronounce 'Toru?' 'Dwumiasto' or 'Bydgoszcz' in English, you just end up choking on your tongue..

This forum doesnt support unicode! That '?' is an n with acute accent.

It's 'pyrogy/pyrogy' or whatever because the Ukraines outnumber poles 7:1 here.

Those aren't zurkish, they're just vowels with diacritical marks on them. P

Thats because the are Zukish, not zurkish. Zukish has changed to the latin alphabet when the Terrans came, and those are the markings the zukes chose.

Well it turns out my friend was busy helping one of her aquaintences. She is the date I'm taking to Navy Ball, and last night I talked to her about getting together for either dinner, or a nice walk sometime, so hopefully that will pull through.

It's funny, a year ago, I never would have thought I'd ever been anywhere near this close to a relationship.
